Been a hot minute since I've drawn a car the last time. I got kinda demotivated and put stress on myself again with the whole "a car a week" thing I started early this year. I decided to abandon that and just draw when I feel like it, but the overall idea of "drawing classics in their - in my opinion - most unflattering or ugly official colour" still goes on.

So I decided to get a bigger drawing pad - A3 instead of A4 - and some really cheap but surprisingly good alcohol markers (decotime dual tip) to not burn through my Ohuhus with supbar drawings and off I went.

The result is supposed to be a 1st gen (1978-82) Honda Prelude in what was supposed to be Longleat Gold Metallic. It's the farthest cry from looking like it's metallic, but I did the colour pretty decently.

I also went really wild with shadows here but if anything it looks like some hippie threw up some psychedelic blobs onto the hood 😂

Entry 9/52 in my car art project is done! To stick with the unconventional/ugly color theme, I originally wanted to draw this Shelby GT350 in Playmate Pink. However, it never officially came in that colour. So I had the choice between Lime Gold and Brittany Blue - a greyish, washed out baby blue I tried to imitate here. I picked the blue because the Lime Gold would've been so bad it would've been cool, but a delicate blue isn't really what I think of when I think about colours for a legendary muscle car.

This is also kinda dedicated to my fiancee as she's helping with picking what cars to do to kill my decision paralysis and also cause she's just amazing. I'm not saying this drawing is amazing, I'm not arrogant, but it's something I'm quite happy with.

WIP of my current project, a Shelby GT350 as was kind of requested by my fiancee. She's just getting interested in cars and already shows peak taste.

Originally I intended to do a Playmate Pink one but historically the GT350 never came in that color from the factory, so womp womp.

But going with my theme of picking unusual or ugly colours, I thought to myself that baby blue isn't what I immediately think of when I think off a legendary muscle car, so Brittany Blue works, I guess?

Character Design Project 7/52 done

The idea is a mage casting a spell while a book with glowing runes floats around. Befitting my Project Based Approach, I decided to try and combine two different light sources and combine it with a Triadic colour scheme with the beige, brown and grey of her robe breaking it up a bit.

I know her cheeks are a bit too hallow looking and that I'm 110% sure the folds are wrong, but other than that I'm pretty happy with it!

Entry 8/52 in my car art project and the first one that's almost fully in profile and I still messed up the wheels.

Anyway, I thought to myself "hey, every car artist draws red Ferraris and orange Lambos, so why not go for a more unconventional route myself and pick ugly or nonstandard - but official!- colours for my own drawings!?"

So that's how we ended up with this cream (which sadly got mudded cause of the underlying pencil drawing) Jaguar. To my knowledge there was at least one beige/cream XKSS being sold, so boom, historical pretext! And I also looked for an interior only a mother would love and settled on dark green suede which didn't quite turn out as it should here.

That being said, I'm still quite happy with this drawing.
