man sometimes i just think about how much andrew and neil love each other and it just absolutely floors me
like not only did both of them never imagine that they would find Their Person, someone who loves and understands and stays wi th them, but they also both didn’t expect to really...survive that long? like all andrew really had to live for (in his perspective) were his deals and those all had expiration dates and neil didn’t even expect to live past the YEAR
but then they find each other and sure it’s bumpy at first but they both fall so hard for each other and no, i’m not saying that they “saved” each other, because they saved themselves (andrew was already working with betsy and trying to heal and recover and find those thing that will make life worth it after his deals with aaron and kevin end, and neil was clinging to the foxes and putting everything he had in them and their friendship) but think about the safety and understanding between them
neil found safety in andrew. he was solid and unyielding, he was someone to hold him up. neil placed his life in andrew’s hands and knew wo th absolute CERTAINTY that andrew would protect him. and further than that, neil believes in andrew and thinks that he’s so incredibly strong and AMAZING. neil was so far gone for andrew and he didn’t even realize. the thing about neil is that he loves his people, his foxes, with every tiny inch of his body. he loves them so much and andrew is absolutely no exception
and andrew? andrew trust neil. coming from someone who didn’t trust anyone because he had it broken time and time again, he knows that neil will stop when he asks him to, abd he trusted neil with KEVIN. like neil feels safe and protected with andrew, but andrew feels the same toward neil? he knows that neil will never hurt him and that he will defend him just as much as andrew defends neil. ALSO! neil understands!! he’s sees andrew, really sees him, and doesn’t flinch away or call him soulless or a monster and andrew puts on this act that he doesn’t care what people think of him, and maybe he really doesn’t, but that wears on you after awhile. and neil being there and defending him was maybe a fresh of breath air for once
just....their relationship is so equal and balanced, give and take in equal measure, ask before doing anything, side by side they are there for each other. they love each other so, so much
