i think it's so funny that the manager offered to give arthur and john a fresh start right at the end because like. there's no way in hell they were going to take that deal, they very recently got their own bodies and were immediately like actually this fucking sucks no thank you. john had all his power back and was the king in yellow again and he was like i hate this i need to be under your skin NOW. one thing about them is theyre #weird about it. do NOT separate them
An adult Faroe showing up at the end doesn't erase or retcon Faroe's death, and I'm tired of seeing people critizising it acting like it does. The new Faroe is not the Faroe Arthur lost. This Faroe lived a completely different life, she is a different person from the child Arthur lost. Which is why this twist is such a good hook for Treshold, because Arthur will have to reconcile with that, that the daughter he has gained is not the daughter he lost, and this Faroe will have to find out that her father isn't the father she knew. This isn't something thrown in to "fix" things for Arthur, this is an element that complicates his seemingly perfect ending. It's an inspired twist to put in, and one I can't wait to see explored.
Faroe showing up is the epitome of hope horror because the first reaction is âoh my god!! Oh my god itâs HER!!â with so much excitement and joy because weâre finally going to see her after all this time! But then you start to think. And you realize that this is the Faroe whose father was mercy killed by John in the Dark World and that Johnâs going to be saddled with that guilt. And Faroeâs easy acceptance of Arthurâs presence means her memory has been altered in some way, and that eventually she will have to grapple with these false memories coming to light. And thatâs when the horror sets in.
