Idea: when you’re hiding something in the tomb of a legendary hero, include a statue or a relief of some monster they slew.

True fans of the hero will remember the famous battle: first, she dodged beneath the dragon and pierced its foot with her sword. Then, battered by its tail, she climbed up onto its back and struck under the wing. Finally, as the monster opened its mouth to breathe fire, she threw her blade into its maw and the dragon died. By repeating these wounds upon the depicted dragon, PCs can unlock a hidden compartment with the artifact or information they were seeking.

For an extra layer of security, maybe the lock only reacts to the hero’s actual sword, now in the possession of a pompous collector or a royal treasury.
