A cold breeze blows in the room and pushes against the red curtains. They tap against the dark wood bedframe and tickle your nose. The smell of cedar and cinnamon rise in the air and an arm wrapped around your waist pulls you closer. You open your eyes and see the sun entering the room. Shifting in the small bed, you see an ocean of red locks strown across the white pillows. Sharing a bed was difficult but his Gryffindor dorm room had become home in the last month.
"What is that look for?" You narrowed your eyes. Your boyfriend had a mischievous look on his face. He shrugged and looked at the lake beside you.
"Garreth?" You had more of a weary tone this time. He had been silent since the meeting with the headmaster. You knew it was about his results of his N.E.W.Ts, they were impressive and everyone spent weeks congratulating him. His eyes darted back to you and in an instant, his arms were wrapped around you. He lifted you up into the air and you screamed. He laughed loudly and tried to throw you into the lake. You refused and snagged hold of him, resulting in both you falling into the lake.
"Garreth Weasley!" You shot up from the water and splash him. He laughed even hard and swam close to you. He leaned in and pressed a soft kiss on your lips. They tasted like cinnamon, they always did– he was insistent on cinnamon rolls every morning.
Memories of last night came back, and you felt a small prang of pain shoot through you. He was going to the Americas at the end of the week and you were going to Romania. In fifth year, Professor Sharp became a mentor to Garreth– more Professor Weasley's idea than either of theirs. Garreth had a new additional assignment every week, more complex elixirs– and he even had to find antidotes for potions he hadn't covered yet. In his seventh year, he had a project with Sebastian Sallow in order to create an antidote potion for certain curses. All this work led him to his own professor position at Ilvermorny in North America. It was an amazing opportunity for him and you were so proud of everything he had accomplished but you were going to Romania.
Dr. Edan Noble is an infamous dragonologist in Romania, specializing in the Hungarian Horntail and other local species. Your seventh year was occupied with polishing up your draconic alongside Ominis Gaunt. You had spent countless hours in the library reading every book Hogwarts had to offer– even the restricted ones Sebastian got for you, and writing letters with your new mentor. Both yours and Garreth's were careers neither of you could pass up and it created a silence that suffocated the air between you. You are angry. You wasted so much time the last two years when you could have been so much happier. Maybe it would make the goodbye harder if you didn't waste time.
"What's going on?" His raspy voice snapped your attention back to now. You smile and brush the wavy hair out of his face. You debate on saying what was on your mind but a cough from across the room interrupts. It was not uncommon to sneak people into dorms– especially seventh years– but it was still awkward to have the talk here.
"Maybe not here.." You whisper and sit up from the warm covers. A cooler breeze shoots up your arms and you decide it is time for a hot bath.
The Slytherin dorms are colder than his dorm but you didn't mind it too much. You need time to breathe and truly think about things. You enter the common room and see a familiar red-head talking to Sebastian and Ominis.
"I see you made yourself at home like always." You hum and walk to the couch. Garreth tilted his head up and gave you a bright smile.
"Ah yes, we were discussing him being a professor–" Sebastian snorts and rolls his eyes at Garreth. He poked fun at him from time to time about becoming a professor.
"Ah yes, Professor Weasley just like his aunt, I do think he is cuter though." You giggle and Garreth's face blushes. He stands up and says goodbye to Sebastian and Ominis. He intertwines his fingers with yours and moves out of the common room through the halls of the castle.
"Are we going to talk about it?" He speaks gently and stops walking. It was a private corridor that no one walked by and ironically, it was in front of the statue that represented heartbreak.
"Do we have to?" You whisper and did not mean to. This conversation was one your brain rehearsed again and again, and it did not go well every single time.
"No, I suppose not. It might make it a little less painful if we did talk about it.."
"Would it? I mean….it doesn't change anything if we talk about it…you are going to the Americas and I am going to Romania." You swallow and could feel tears fighting to come up.
"It does not change what will happen after we leave here but it does change our future. I am going to the Americas and you are going to Romania. That is not changing but we can still be together. If you'll have me we can write letters. We can write and… and I can use apparition on holidays…. It is not ideal I know but I cannot lose you again.." He breathes out and his eyebrows furrow. The smile he held disappears with every word he speaks. You wonder if it was even possible. Apparition is a dangerous spell if not done correctly. What happens if he meets someone in the Americas? It would crush you but then again, this is crushing you.
"How about we write letters and I see apparite every other month. On holidays you will come see me. But you must give me every detail in your letters so I can come see you.." This plan is crazy. Using a spell like that frequently would be exhausting for both of you, but it was worth it. It's worth it to see him again.
"Letters for seven weeks and then you will come to me?" His question felt more like a question of the idea. You nod and he laughs loudly. He wraps his arms around you and pulls you tight.
"I will make sure to write every detail down. I will write everything down, I am in love with you (Name) and we will make this work, I promise. In a year we will discuss future plans. If I dislike my position I will step down to be with you." He breathes out against your neck. Shivers run along your spine and the stomach ache you had evaporates. You nod again and close your eyes. You have a plan, it is not perfect but it is better than saying goodbye.
The train blares its horn and alerts all the excited graduates that it was at the last stop. You squeeze Garreth's hand and let out a breath. You hadn't let go of his hand the entire journey back to London. Stepping from the train car you felt the rain pouring down on your head. Carriages fill the streets and carriage drivers call out while holding signs of various names. You say goodbye to Sebastian, Natty, Amit and now it is Garreth's turn. You hear purring and glance over. Your owl, Percy, was saying goodbye to Lacey, his mate. She is Garreth's owl and it breaks your heart. They have to say goodbye too. You suggested to Percy that he could stay with Lacey and Garreth once, he only squawks aggressively in response. Garreth clears his throat and pulls you to him.
"We will write, not like the 'oh yeah we will keep in touch' but actually write. A letter a week is expected. I want everything. Even if it's a five page, front to back letter, I want it all. Promise me you will write because if you don't I will worry and if I worry then I am making a very tiresome visit." His voice is stern but you can see tears forming in his green eyes. You nod and clench your teeth. Tears threaten to fall down your cheeks but you refuse to cry now.
"Yes Garreth, we will write. I want to hear everything about Ilvermorny."" You smile and slink your arms around him. He pulls you in for a tight embrace. He lets out a shaky breath and a hand tapping on your shoulder breaks you apart.
"Garreth! She is so pretty!" A bright girl with strawberry blonde hair stares up at you. She has similar green eyes and it is no doubt Gwendolyn Weasley. You had heard so much about his sister but never met her until now.
"Oh hello.." You wipe your face and force a smile. You want to make a good impression even if it is a small introduction.
"Gwen, where are our parents?" Garreth pulls from the embrace and glances in the crowd. The young girl shrugs and continues to watch you. She starts listing questions and it was clear she had planned this. You giggle and try to answer everyone you could.
"You are attending Hogwarts this year–"
"Nope! Mother and father are letting me attend Ilvermorny! They say I would be better off with Garreth than auntie Matilda. I guess Garreth left a tiresome reputation to uphold" She giggles and her words make your heart sink. It also captures Garreth's attention back to her. She is attending Ilvermorny and he cannot leave his professor position within a year if he wanted to now.
"Miss (Last Name)? A driver with a fur hat approaches you. His sign held your name and Ominis Gaunt's name. You smile, happy you will have a friend and one that can also speak Dragonic with you. Your smile falters and you realize this was it.
"Yes?"
"I am Dr. Edan Noble's driver. I am here to escort you to his carriage, just down there!" He yells over the rain and points to a black carriage just down the road. You glance over at Garreth and his smile has faded. You hadn't seen him look this upset since his confession a month ago.
"Yes! Yes! I am delighted to meet you. I will just grab my things–"
"No ma'am, I am here for those. This suitcase here?" He gestures to your suitcase and owl cage. Percy chirps and flies into his case.
"Yes! Thank you.." You look back at Garreth, this was it.
"In seven weeks?" He holds his hand up with his pinky finger out. You laugh softly, repressing tears. You hook your pink with his and he squeezes them together.
"I look forward to your letters, Weasley." He lets out a breathy chuckle and you part from his grasp. You say goodbye to Gwen and follow the driver to the carriage. Your clogs clatter against the wet cobblestone underneath you. Your chest is heavy but you press on. The driver opens the door and you see Ominis sitting there with a hooded figure. You step into the small space with Ominis's extended hand. You thank him and sit across the two men.
"I apologize for keeping you waiting, Doctor." You breathe out. The rain pours against the roof of the carriage.
"That is quite alright my dear, goodbyes are important." The man has a deep scar across his left eye. The man has slicked back blonde hair and scruff on his jaw. He looks to be in his mid thirties, younger than you would guess.
"Thank you sir. I would like to extend my gratitude for accepting me for this position. I am beyond excited to learn from you and to experience what all dragons have to offer." He laughs and tilts his head at you. Another laugh left him and he purses his lips.
"They are vindictive and will leave you scarred more times than you can count." He pulls up his pants leg and reveals a wooden prosthetic.
"With your studies I believe we can start communicating with them. Your language section really inspired me and led me to believe that perhaps we got off on the wrong foot. Get it?" He laughs once again and both you and Ominis awkwardly laugh with him. Perhaps it was your nerves or how amused he was, but you let yourself seep into this mutuality. The carriage shakes slightly and the door opens. Rain sneaks into the carriage and another man steps into the small coach. His shoulders are broad and his cape drips on the seats. You scoot over instinctively and study him. He had auburn hair and he smelled of chai tea and moss. Nasua fills you and his brown eyes caught yours, Leander Prewett.
"Prewett, Gaunt and (Last Name), this will be our research team. Gaunt and (Last Name) will study communication with the dragons and with Mr. Prewett's beast handling capabilities why I outta expect the Ministry of Magic will be hearing about our work quite frequently. Please, sit down Mr. Prewett. I realize not everyone knows each other at Hogwarts but we will need to be a close team to gain the local dragons' trust." Your eyes shift to Ominis's face. His eyebrows furrow and he leans forward slightly. He knew of your past, hard to escape when you spent so much time together. Edan's words snap you back into the conversation. Gain the dragons' trust? He had studies and casework all in Romania, why would they suddenly not trust him?
"Excuse me Doctor, please forgive me but your studies are in Romania with the local dragons there. Hadn't you gained their trust over the last ten years?" Leander sits by you and you have to swallow every urge to bolt out of the carriage. Breathe. Seven weeks. Seven weeks.
"Romania has accepted my studies and will continue my research with my local team there. We are opening a new research team in Bergen."
"Bergen?" All voices echo and match the same confusion. You must have all not been informed of this switch.
"Yes, Norway. Most dragons up there are uncharted and only in muggle folk lore. It is rich with life and a boosting economy. We shall be there by nightfall as long as the weather holds up." You blink and try to focus but his words grew an ill feeling in the pit of your stomach. It could still work right? Norway was much closer to North America than Romania. In fact, it's more doable than before. You breathe out.
"Oh I almost forgot, your contracts!" The carriage jumps into the sky and he digs around in his pockets. Pulling out parchment, he hands both of you a copy. He then pulls out an additional copy and gives it to Ominis.
The Noble Association Contract
Under the Noble Association, I agree and abide by these rules in order to protect myself, the other members of the Noble Association, and the citizens of governing local bodies. In order to protect dragons, the Noble Association has created these guidelines below.
During Mating Season only mated pairs may enter their lair. No party members of the Noble Association will enter any claimed territory by the bonded pair.
Dragon eggs must not be taken from their lair and must not be touched by any party members.
Any magic beast cruelty will perish any connection with the Noble Association and the individual. The Association has a right to submit a report to the Ministry of Magic involving any magic beast cruelty.
Nonlocal visitors are prohibited from any visitation to the dragon lairs and to any party member of the Noble Association.
There is no superiority in dragon lairs amongst party members. Dragons are a higher hierarchy and all must act upon it.
I agree to these terms. Inability to abide by these terms will lead to a dismissal of employment with the Noble Association and any further work with the Association. This contract will start June 30th 1893 and will end June 30th, 1895.
"Nonlocal visitors meaning what, our families and friends cannot visit?" Leander speaks first and your brain keeps repeating the words.
"That is correct, I apologize as it is not the most convenient but please understand that dragons have powerful scents. It takes quite a while for dragons to trust humans and if they smell an untrusted individual, our progress is gone."
"Can they sense the locals?" Omnis questions, his voice drops in tone. You knew he was going to miss Sebastian.
"Yes. They have lived in these caves for millennia. Bloodlines and lineages have been forged deeply. The muggles are unaware these magical creatures live amongst them but the dragons know their human populace. We actually had an uproaring in Romania. Refugees flooded in and the dragons were in a riot–" He rambles and you catch Leander's eyes again. The bitter irony tastes sour in your mouth, you were going to puke. Breathe, just breathe. You look out the dark window and the night feels suffocating. Two years? Could you survive two years in only letters? You worry letters would be prohibited but you did not dare to ask and have it added to the contract.
"I suppose we are able to catch up now.." The idiot beside you chuckles and you grimace. The words on the parchment burn in your mind and you think about what you want to do. The bustle in the carriage churns your stomach again and you feel a burning feeling in the back of your throat. Like a powerful wind, you heave up breakfast across Leander's lap. He yelps loudly and Ominis bursts out laughing. You heave again and empty any food content left on his lap again. After you finish, you wipe your mouth and start apologizing profusely.
"I am so terribly sorry, I have no idea what came over me." You pull out your wand and quickly change Leander's pants and the smell in the carriage. Your body trembles and your cheeks flash hot. You were mortified at what just happened.
"Altitude sickness is very common my dear." Edan murmurs and wipes his face. You silence yourself and look at the contract. It is crumpled but safe from any vomit.
"I am sorry Doctor but can we discuss a change within the contract? I would like to sign on for a year if possible."
"Do you have plans to do any other work?" His words are sharp and catch you by surprise.
"It can be one year if you provide me with two years of data." He looks down at the contract you are holding.
"Yes Doctor. Thank you."
The carriage stops at the edge of the rocky coastline. A tall lighthouse made of red and white perches at the cliff. Next to the light house was a white cottage. You softly describe everything to Ominis and the driver pulls your luggage off the back.
"We will not be staying here long. Meals, sleep and writing our reports. There is a loft area with three beds. There is not room for a dresser but we have a built-in closet underneath the staircase for your things. The restroom is down the hall. I will sleep on the couch. There is a shed out back where I have arranged to be our study. Get some sleep, we have an early morning." You say your goodbyes, take turns in the restroom and one by one go upstairs. The stairs were old and creaky. You step and listen to each creek. Finally, you find your bed. You slept on the far left side, Ominis was in the middle and Leander slept on the far right. The pillows smell like dust and fish. Back at Hogwarts, Garreth's elbow would dig into your hip by now.
It is dark when you hear Leander's voice calling your name. You blink a few times and your vision unblurs. You hadn't slept much, if at all. You see Leander in deep brown corduroy pants and a blue checkered jacket.
"Dr. Noble is having us begin our first assignment, fishing. Get dressed in something warm." You groan and roll off the bed. Your stomach still feels churned but you ignore it. You dress when the boys leave. A cream colored sweater with the letters Weasley on the back. He forced you to take it. It had been a Christmas present from his mother and you cherish it. You wrap your arms around your waist and pull the sweater in for a tight hug, cinnamon and cedar.
"Thank you for joining us on this fine morning!" Edan beams and looks at your Gryffindor cape.
"Homesick already?" His words catch Leander's attention. He eyes the cape and stares at the logo. His jaw ticks and he moves a boat from the sand with his wand.
"Yes Doctor." Edan smiles and walks across the nearby dock. You three follow him onto the boat. Edan went first, Ominis, Leander and then it was your turn. Stepping into the boat, the boat rocks against the water and dock. You did not want to fall in the water, especially when the sun hasn't even come up yet. A hand grasps around your wrist and pulls you into the boat. Ominis has his hand extended but it wasn't him who grabbed you. You pull your arm away from Leander and gain another eye roll.
The boat glides through the water creating small waves that hit against the boat. It was peaceful. No words are shared between any of you. Your stomach growls and you wonder if you would eat fish frequently with Edan.
"Here we are, now we wait.." He muses and stops the boat in a small patch of cattail and lily pads. The bank's grass presses against the boat and holds it in its grasp.
"Wait for….what? Wouldn't there be more fish in the middle of the lake?" Leander looks over the boat and the water. He was right. Any fishing rod would get stuck in the muck and fish had a perfect hiding spot underneath the vegetation.
"We aren't here for the fish..now hush…" Edan waves him off and watches the water. The lake is silent, there were no birds, frogs, dragonflies or any other animals in sight. It's eerily still. You wait for a moment, then a few more and then it feels like an hour. Every time someone speaks, Edan hushes them.
"We would understand the silence if you would just tell us what we are looking for–" Leander isn't met with a hush but a screeching. The water pushes the boat into the bank and large waves form. The boat crashes into the bank again and a sharp wind smacks against your face. Another screech and a deep bellowing clicking noise echo in the silence. Scales of clay and charcoal come into view. The dragon swoops its wings downward and settles itself in the water. If you jumped into the water right now, it would fully submerge you but for the dragon it only went up to its ankles. She had large obsidian horns and her tail narrowed quickly at the end. She breathes out and shows off her serrating teeth.
“I know you are there, I can sense your magic. State your purpose or I will have no choice but to feed you to my hatchlings.” She clicks and her voice commands deeply. You turn your head to Ominis, his head is at tilt.
“Our magic is drawn to yours but we only want to witness your power if you let us..” You hope to reach for her superiority. Edan mentioned he was interested in you and Ominis for your work with Dragonic, can he speak it? You watch the dragon's amber eyes pierce into you. She opens her mouth and pours steam across the water. Her silhouette glides across and she disappears in the smoke. It's silent and you struggle to breathe. Is this an attack?
"What did you say?" Leander speaks softly, his hands are up. One is in front of you while the other hovers in front of him– as if he could protect you from a dragon. You stand up and try to see anything through the haze. A ripple hits against your boat and she lunges. Her large head weaves through and she digs her teeth into your pant leg. A mixture of laughter and screams bursts from the boat but then you could only hear the wind. The ground is farther away and you watch the boat become tiny. You thought about teleporting back down but why did the dragon pick you up? She wanted to feed you to her young, why didn't she? Also, why is Dr. Edan Noble laughing when a dragon is taking you to be eaten.
She stops and holds you still. Her wings flap, pushing the clouds far from you both. Her amber eyes blink and she holds you tighter in her talon.
“You are mine now. If any other dragon calls upon you, tell them you are Myddreth's. We both have hatchlings to worry about and your power is strong, ancient. They are insignificant." Her words are confusing but you did not speak. You watch her carefully and nod in agreement.
You are hers? Dragons do not bond with humans, do they? You have more questions for Edan than you thought. Myddreth releases her grasp on you and flies off into the clouds. The wind screams at you and your body plunges downwards. You take a shaky breath and hold out your wand. Closing your eyes you think of Edan, Ominis and Leander waiting to catch– His light freckled skin, red locks pressed against the pillow and the smell of cinnamon. No– the boat– His kiss on your cheek– Garreth–
"(Name)!" A shrilled voice and then flowing water. The cold water surrounds you and your hands push you to the surface. Hands pull you from the water and onto the wooden boat. You push yourself up and away from Leander's grasp.
"Doctor, we need to talk–" You are cut off by laughter and another bellowing click.
Dear Garreth,
There are so many things to say that I cannot even fathom but I think the first thing is that we cannot see each other for the holidays.. I am also not in Romania. My mentor changed locations without discussing it with me or my new teammates. I expected Ominis to receive the same offer as I did but Leander is here too. Which again, it was not disclosed that I would be on a team– especially with anyone from Hogwarts– let alone him. I had to sign a contract to even begin my work and the nature of the contract is to protect myself and dragonkind. To protect myself from dragonkind, I cannot have anyone visit me during the entirety of the contract, two years. With enough work, I had it lowered to a year.
I am so sorry, but what happened today… I was chosen by a dragon. A dragon Garreth! She chose me! I had a lengthy discussion with my mentor and I suppose it is a secret. Dragons do bond with humans, rare but it can happen. The dragon sensed ancient magic and chose me. That part I did not disclose to Leander or Edan. Ominis agrees that the ancient power might be connected to dragons.
You would not believe where we are staying. We live in a white cottage by a lighthouse on the edge of a cliff near Bergen. I share a small loft with both Ominis and Leander. I do not think I will survive within the year. I wore your sweater today and I regret not keeping it for my bed,
Please write about North America. Are the other professors envious they have such a young professor amongst them? Are you excited for Gwen to attend? Please tell me everything..

Notes: This has a very similar theme to my Garreth Weasley but what else to worry about when you are in the midst of love and seventh year? I also like exploring society at that time but only hinting at it. I also tested out page breaks! It looks funky on dark mode but I hope it looks better in light mode! Please let me know your thoughts on it! This is also a softer Sebastian Sallow smut because the whole best friends to lovers trope.

"Sallow, a word." Sharp's stern voice captured your friend's attention before you were able to whisk him away. You had attempted to leave class to avoid a lecture from Sharp but he picked up on your plan before escape was near.
"You can bring Miss (Last Name) as well, since the two of you are a pair." He muttered with a dull annoyance. You glanced at Sebastian who only gave you a half smile from the corner of his mouth. He wanted to bring you down with him and maybe with that you should have ran. You decided to stay and followed him up to Sharp's desk.
"Mr. Sallow, your grades have slipped up and are so close to the N.E.W.Ts, I fear you do not want to become an Auror like you planned. I am also tired of taking points away from Slytherin. It is not wise to upset your classmates in the last year.. Miss (Last Name), I am disappointed with you as well. I expected you to keep him on the right track…considering your history.." He had become your closest ally since Professor Fig. He knew mostly everything and knew about Sebastian's misguided path from 5th year.
"I am actually on my way to practice for my final potion, professor. I have finally allowed (Name) to help me. Please allow me to prove to you that I am serious about this class and being an Auror." Sebastian spoke in a low tone, and a tone you knew all so well. He was disappointed.
"Very well, I do not want another discussion or I fear it will end very differently." Sharp nodded your way and released you from his scolding. You nudged Sebastian and made haste out of the classroom. Once you were sure Mr. Sharp couldn't hear, you both let out deep breathes.
"Sebastian, you told me that helping me with my ancient magic studies wouldn't mess up your coursework."
"I know, I know. I am sorry. I just got carried away.. and I didn't want to think about my classes anymore…"His hand slid from your arm but rested on your wrist.
"Why not?" Your brows furrowed and you studied his face. His eyes were hollow and the corner of lips were turned downwards.
"I didn't want to think about having to leave Hogwarts. 5th year was such a hard year and I lost so much time with Anne and Ominis. Only then you began at Hogwarts so I had less time with you. I don't want it to end. I don't want to take my N.E.W.Ts and only write letters. Monthly letters turn into yearly ones and then..." He shifted his jaw and glanced around the crowded corridor.
"Sebastian–" A group pushed past the two of you to step into a class they had.
"How about we talk more later..? We can catch Ominis and Anne for lunch and then we can go to the Undercroft.." You moved your other hand and placed it on his. You gave it a tight squeeze.
"Yes, I would like that." He nodded and his gaze dropped from your features. He let you pull him away to the Great Hall.
"Come now Sebastian, we cannot be serious!" Anne laughed loudly and glanced at Ominis. Her side pressed into his and she rested her head on his shoulder. You watched them for a moment and felt a small prick of jealousy creep into you. They had been together since the end of 6th year and your mind traced back to Sebastian. You watched him explain a story you have heard several times. He animated the troll that fell down countless stairs from your previous shenanigans you found each other in. Did he have feelings for you? It hadn't been expressed but neither of you dated anyone these past two years.
"(Name), you cannot let him continue this, please. I beg that you keep him in line after graduation." Ominis mused and continued eating lunch. Normally, you would have been starved. You and Sebastian both skipped dinner last night from being caught up in a cave, but the thought of saying goodbye to Sebastian flooded your nervous system. In fact, you had no idea what you were going to do after graduation. At least Sebastian wanted to be an Auror probably from his near escape of Azkaban.
"I promise I will try my best." You mustered up a smile, the best one you could have. Your eyes traced back to Sebastian and you met his gaze. He did not want to talk about the after..
"(Name)....may I have a word?" Leander's voice caught your attention. You glanced at the red head. He held a bright smile and his shoulders sat back. He did not teeter from your watchful eye.
"Oh, yes Leander?" You were wary, he had a reputation that only grew from the start of this year.
"Oh I, a private word perhaps?" His eyes wavered to the person beside you, Sebastian Sallow. Sebastian was still. His lips were strung across his face in a straight line. He cleared his throat and then broke into his sarcastic smile.
"Well, you can say anything you want here, she will tell me anything you say anyways." Anne gasped and your foot kicked his, gentle of course but nonetheless a warning.
"Sebastian Alfie Sallow. That was rude. (Name) is allowed to have privacy." She scolded him and Ominis snickered.
"It is quite alright Anne, we all know you are the sensible out of the two of you. (Name) I will just say it. We are graduating soon and I would like to take you on a proper date, Hogmeade on Friday?" Leander tore from Sebastian's gaze and looked back at you. His words surprised and you froze. You had been unable to respond and struggled to breathe for a moment. No one expressed interest in you before. You wanted to look at Sebastian. Was he happy for you? Was he jealous? Did his jaw twitch or roll his shoulders when he was frustrated?
"I um, I am sorry Leander, I have feelings for someone else." He looked over at someone and then nodded. He left your table and it grew silent around you.
"Why did you say no?" Anne chimed and watched you intently.
"I don't know…I suppose I hadn't ever thought of him like that."
"You said you liked someone, well who is it?" Ominis pushed his way into the conversation and your stomach started to churn.
"I uh…it is a secret.." Your voice felt uneasy.
"For Merlin's sake.." Ominis muttered and let out a sigh. Anne rolled her eyes at him and looked back at you.
"Fine, keep your secrets…but from your closest and loyal friends? I dare say maybe you should have been sorted into Slytherin."
"It is not like that Anne, I haven't told anyone…not even the person I like.." Your face warmed and you wanted to look at Sebastian desperately. He hadn't said a word and it was starting to drive you mad. It wasn't like him to stay quiet for that long.
"Maybe you should. It is the end of the year and maybe it will give you an idea on what to do next." Anne was right, she happened to always be right. You knew that if he didn't feel the same about you then it would ruin a friendship you worked so hard for. It required a lot of patience and forgiveness and if you told him, your dearest friend, and he did not feel the same…then the foundation would crumble.
"I am so sorry, I almost forgot– I need to work on some last minute assignments. Please forgive me, Sebastian didn't you need to work on–"
"Right. Yes. Sorry Anne, Ominis. We are still on for dinner right?" He stood up from the table and followed you right after.
"Yes! Are you going to the Undercroft? Our final project for the Defense Against the Dark Arts is in there and it is a sight.." Anne laughed and watched both of you with a narrowed look.
"Oh no, we are going to the..library." You waved goodbye and heard whispers behind you. They spoke like they had their own language and again, it made you envious.
"Are we really going to the library?" Sebastian caught up to you. He knew of the Room of Requirement but had never been. Deek had been very clear about visitors as it was a gift for you, and what you needed. It was not for the public and of course, you told Sebastian.
"No, we are going to see Deek." You finally looked at Sebastian and he had a smile on his face.
The room was no longer a room but a home. You had created a living room with deep dark wooden bookshelves, stained glass windows allowing different colors to seep in, and a cream colored couch. Other rooms in your home were a greenhouse with a birch twisted arch and a brewing station attached to the greenhouse, a bedroom with a tall iron casted window, and a sanctuary for rescued beasts. Your tour had ended when Deek approached.
"Ah (Name), you are back! Your mandrakes are thriving nicely in their new pots and– oh." His voice cut off when he saw Sebastian. He did not try to hide behind you since it was impossible due to his broad shoulders and height but he stood behind.
"I need him here, Deek. He is failing potions and well, I need help with my project. Please Deek? Professor Weasley said this is for students who are in need and he needs help in potions class. We will be in the greenhouse wing. We will not bother you! Once we are finished we will leave immediately." You pleaded with the house elf. You wanted to also ask if he would not discuss with Professor Weasley about bringing a boy here but one plea at time. He tilted his head, his ears bounced a little with the motion. He tilted his head the other way and gave a simple nod.
"I suppose you are right and you wish for me to keep this from Professor Weasley…" You only nodded and gave him the tiniest bottom lip pout.
"Alright, however I cannot leave you two all by yourselves. I will be tending to the beasts. If you need anything, I am a call away." He looked at you and then at Sebastian. His stare lingered on him and then he poofed away.
"That was a little easier than I expected." Sebastian's voice made you jump a little and you laugh lightly.
"Yes well, I am a pretty good persuader. Come, let's work on our potions." You smirk at him and link your arm with him.
"Yes you are.." He hummed and walked with you.
"Sebastian, this is too difficult.." You sighed in defeat and looked at him behind you. He studied his cauldron. His cape had been thrown over a chair, his sleeves were cuffed and his hair was pushed back with a hint of sweat. His focus did not leave the pot and he muttered a small noise of acknowledgement. You rolled your eyes and watched him. His biceps flexed ever so slightly when he poured various ingredients in the cauldron. Your eyes traced over his jaw and to his lips.
"Sebastian?" You tilted your head and you heard him murmur, he was not listening. You inched closer to him and watched over his shoulder. His eyes darted to his journal and then back at the cauldron. He went to pour in the wrong ingredient and your hands quickly grabbed onto his hands.
"That is the wrong ingredient, Sebastian. It is asking for this.." You gestured to a brown stained bottle from the back. He lifted his head and looked up at the ceiling. He let out a deep sigh and looked over his shoulder. He watched your eyes and then glanced down, was that to your lips?
"I would not have tried putting the wrong ingredient in if you weren't distracting me. You called me twice when I was concentrating." He spoke softly but continued to stare downwards.
"I am sorry, I know– I know. I just…I am doing an Amortentia potion and it turns out, it is much harder than I thought.." You let out a sigh and pulled away from him. He was right, he needed all the focus to be on the potion.
"What do you have?" He started to follow you to your own cauldron. You began listing ingredients and stopped abruptly.
"Wait…if I put this in then I must need to put…" You looked at your ingredients and found the one you needed. You poured lilac petals in and stirred the pot. It bubbled dramatically and finally soothed. You look at Sebastian who watched the liquid intently.
"How do we know if it worked?"
"I am not sure, I suppose we smell it?" You planned on testing it by yourself but you did not want to test it alone.
"Both of us? Wouldn't that.."
"What? Make us fall in love? Are you scared to fall in love with me, Sebastian?"
"What? No!" He said it a little too loud because you both flinched. He whispered an apology and looked back at the black pot.
"It is okay, I will test it myself." You felt something odd in your chest. Why did he outburst like that? Was the thought of falling in love with you so horrible?" You bent down to the cauldron and took a breath in through your nose. It smelled like nothing. You frowned and hovered your face closer to the bubbling goo. A swirl of moss and fresh bread had come to your mind when you thought of Sebastian. You wanted to smell that scent desperately but you smelled nothing.
"Huh..I don't smell anything..perhaps I didn't do it correctly.." You muttered and looked back at the book. Tears threatened to form and you did not want to tear up in front of him.
"Let me try.." He bent down and smelled the pot. Just like you, he frowned and leaned in. He pulled away and shook his head slightly. It warmed you a bit, he didn't smell anything either. It was a potion creation error and not you being unattracted to anyone. Sebastian also not smelling anything meant he didn't want someone else.
"Did your eyes well up?" He asked, it was an explicit question but he asked in a kind way. You frowned and avoided his eyes.
"Yes.." You whispered, embarrassed that the thought even occurred. You were just asked out and since it didn't smell of anything– mainly him– you felt undesirable?
"Why?" It was a simple question and you had no idea how you would respond.
"I thought it being unscented meant my feelings weren't real or that no one would have feelings for me. It is silly really,, my emotions are all over the place from the graduation discussion earlier.." You tried to calm your heart.
"Those thoughts made me emotional as well…I..the thought of not seeing anyone after is daunting….and you being what…undesirable? That is most amusing since you were just asked out by Leander. Why did you say no anyways?" His question stumped you. What was an appropriate way to say you liked him instead without saying you liked him? A shiver shot up your spine. Your legs instinctively pushed together and your abdomen almost rolled forward. What?
"It's a little hot in here.." He captured your attention. He adjusted his uniform with a flushed face. You shivered again, and a warmth caressed your face. Why was it so hot? Did the potion give you both an illness? A thought of his hands gripping your thighs made you bite the inside of your cheek.
"Perhaps it's the ambience lighting…maybe I could get…" It was the tiniest thing and you almost missed it.. It was a whisper, quieter than a whisper– a whimper. You turned your head and caught the sight of him. His cheeks were crimson, he stared in a half-lid gaze, his soft brown locks frumpled and he had winced when your eyes caught his.
"Sebastian…are you feeling alright?"
"No." His voice came out raspy, and he rolled his shoulders back. He moved from his spot by the table and walked by the oak arch. He grabbed the golden-trimmed door handle and stilled.
"How do we go back to Central Hall from here?"
"I just imagine it but I…I don't want to. Not until, not until you tell me what's wrong? Is it about Leander asking me out?" Your voice turned into a breathy whisper. Your breathing picked up and you felt your intrusive thoughts grow. You glanced at his throat. You imagined him moaning out your name.
"(Name), I cannot discuss this now…. I feel like I am on fire.." He breathed out. He pressed his back against the door and he stared at you from afar. You stepped closer to him but he moved his hand up.
"Stay away from me.."
"Sebastian…you are acting…weird…" You giggled and stepped closer. Another shiver went through you and so did confidence. You stepped again and again until your chest pressed against his hand. You looked down at his lips and then back up to his eyes.
"(Name).." He whispered and the hand that pressed against your chest dropped to his sides. He took a step back away from you and the door and his gaze tore from yours. A prang of embarrassment and guilt shuddered through you.
"Prehaps you are right, we should leave…" After you uttered those words, the room disappeared. You were back in Central Hall and the cool air did not ease any warmth you had in your cheeks. A pain in your heart did not dull the buzzing your body had. You did not want to think about what just happened. His rejection, his step back made you want to hide from the world. He did not like you, not like the way you loved him. You did not look at him or say goodbye. Your feet carried you to your dorm and you hoped a nap would wash over the intensity your body craved.
The laughter from your roommates woke you up. The room was dark and judging by how many were in their beds, you had missed dinner. Your chest was torn but your hips bucked up. A familiar shiver ran along your skin. You rolled over and tried to ignore it. Your hands rested on your stomach. Your hip rolled again and a grumble escaped you. You would not find relief here. You grabbed a towel and slipped out the door. The bathroom was well lit and most tubs had privacy screens covering them. Jaw clenched, you felt your abdomen starting to hurt.. A private place, a private moment was all you needed.
You had appeared in the Room of Requirement again. It was dark but you moved quickly to your bedroom. You reached for the handle but froze.
"Deek? Are you here?"
"Yes Miss? It is quite late.." He appeared beside you and yawned out. He held a lit candle. He had a long white tunic and a matching flopping hat that covered his right ear.
"Yes, it is. I apologize. I could not sleep in my dorm and I had hoped to have a moment alone in privacy.. Please go back to sleep. You can check on me in the morning.." He gave you a look and your eyes pleaded. The pit in your stomach was unforgiving.
"Yes.. I will return in the morning. I believe that is best for the both of us." He grumbled disappeared.
The bedroom had a large bed with thick duvets. The top blanket was a lavender satin and the pillows matched with floral lavender designs. The satin against your legs gave you goosebumps. Undernear and pants were discarded elsewhere and you settled on your knees. Fingers gently ran down your mound and drifted to your clit. The small touch was enough to let out a small moan. You pressed your fingers firmer on your clit. They moved in a circular motion and your hips instinctively grinded down. The lack of contact underneath you was frustrating. Your left hand traced the hem of your nightshirt. The thin fabric pressed against your hardened nipple and the cool air made you shiver.
"Sebastian" your head tilted back and you closed your eyes. You imagined his hands across your skin, his lips pressed against your breasts and his voice moaning out your name. You imagined his hold around you, the smell of moss and fresh bread flooded your senses. You massaged your clit and grinded down again. The cool air had been replaced with warmth. You opened your eyes and looked down. Sebastian had appeared underneath you. His shirt was off, his brown hair disheveled and his night pants were pulled down. A freckled hand was wrapped around his cock and his mouth agape. So many thoughts and emotions flooded your system but the sight of him ripped out a moan in response to his appearance. He was stunning and the need for release overpowered you.
"(Name)" he breathed out. He ran his hand up and back down across his shaft. He tilted his head back, his hair stuck to the satin. He moved his hand again and this time his hips grinded upwards. He let out a deep moan and your fingers resumed the circular motion. When his hips jerked upwards, you felt him run his cock along your hand.
"Sebastian.." His name flowed naturally. Your other hand traveled against his chest. You memorized every crevice, freckle and muscle you grazed against. He moaned and followed. His hand wrapped around your waist and grinded you against him. His cock glided against your folds and he let out a deep breath.
"I want you but I know this is the potion and I don't want to ruin…ruin this for you.." He whispered, his eyes stared up into yours.
"Ruin this?" You furrowed your eyebrows and watched him.
"You told Anne you had feelings for someone and I know this would complicate things. If we were caught we would have to marry.." His words poured out like honey and he jerked against you again.
"It is just the potion.." He whispered to himself and he had closed his eyes. Did he believe you felt that way or did he feel that way?
"Is it just the potion for you?" You whispered, afraid if you spoke louder he would say yes.
"No…but–"
"I am in love with you Sebastian. I have feelings for you…please…" Your words stopped him. His hands left him and wrapped around you. He pushed you down against him and pressed a deep kiss on your lips. The kiss felt electrifying, it almost tickled when you pulled away.
"I have been in love with you since fifth year… and I wanted to do this for so long." He captured your lips again. This kiss was quicker because he guided you off of him. Your head pressed against the bed and he hovered above you. The knot in your stomach arched your back. His fingers traced from your collarbone down to your chest. He guided his touch around your hardened nipples and gently underneath your breast. They danced across your stomach and landed on your mound. Your hips jerked up at his touch. He chuckled and leaned down. His lips pressed against your ear and his warm breath tickled your neck.
"You are so needy aren't you?" He whispered and pulled away. His fingers on your mound land on your clit. They glided across and he watched you shiver at his hand.
"Tell me how needy you are for me or I will.." He murmured and lifted his fingers off your clit. He hovered, watching you with hungry eyes. You whimper begrudgingly and your eyes narrowed at him. He was teasing you when you needed him most.
"Yes…yes..Sebastian.." You breathed out. You didn't want to cave but you felt like you were on fire.
"Was this how you were feeling when you wanted to leave the green house? That is too bad…we could have sped this up…maybe I should have you wait.." You mused and traced your fingers along his cock. He clenched his teeth and hissed out.
"I was an idiot and I worried you wouldn't want me like this but believe me, I will never make that mistake again." His lips pressed against your neck and his fingers dropped back down to your clit. He kissed you from the backs of your ear down to the base of your neck. He found a sensitive spot and nibbled on the skin while your hips jerked up from his touch. The knot in your stomach tightened you let out a whine. His lips part from your neck.
"So pretty…and all for me..tell me again…that you love me…and that you want to be with me after graduation.." He commanded but did not slow his pace on your clit.
"I love you..Seb..and..I…I only want you after…" Your hand wrapped around his cock and started to copy his earlier movements. The hand on your clit halted and snatched your wrist.
"My sweet girl, I have dreamt of this for so long…let me show you.." His words sent vibrations under your skin. You nodded and he lined himself to your entrance. He waited for a single nod from you before he slid himself past your folds. He groaned and his entire body shivered. You pressed your head into the blanket and let out a shaky breath. His lips drug across your jaw and down your neck. Coils in your stomach tightened and you moaned out. Your body trembled under every touch and you felt your face burn. You needed more. Your left hand wrapped around him and your right hand snaked its way down to your clit. Whimpers escaped you while you massaged your clit again. The hand on his back pressed against his skin. Your nails dug into him and he let out a whimper.
"Fu– (Name)....don't stop…" He whispered and thrusted quicker. His body trembled against your and shivers ran down your spine. The knot in your stomach was unbearable.
"Seb– I am– I am getting close–" Your hardened nippled pressed against his hot chest. Your hips moved with every thrust, chasing his touch.
"Release with me.." He breathed out. The tightness in your abdomen released. You yelp out and shudder underneath him. His voice tightened and he moaned your name out loud. A warmth spread inside you and he shivered against you. He thrusted a few more times and stilled. His lips pressed against your lips and he pulled away just enough to speak.
"I love you (Name). I could not have survived without your friendship these past years and I don't think I can survive without you after….." He slid out and laid down beside you. His arms pulled you against his chest and he held you tight.
"You do not have to, I will be here with you."
"What if the N.E.W.Ts assign us to different careers? Or I know you have more ancient magic secrets to find and I do not want to stop you–"
"Sebastian. Look at me." Your demand pulled him from his train of worry.
"Whatever the test shows us, we will find a way. We will not separate as long as we want."
"Keep saying that and I think a marriage proposal is in your future." He smiled and brushed a stand of hair out of your face.
""Sebastian it is not nice to–"
"I am not teasing (Name). I will ask you to marry me. Could be next month, could be in a year. As long as you will have me." He kissed your forehead and breathed out. Your heart fluttered and you did not want to ruin the moment by questioning more details. You sighed in content and nodded against him.
"Was Ominis and Anne upset that I missed dinner?" You hummed and looked up at him. He looked down at you with a big smile.
Summary: Your friend brushed you off for a couple days now and you can't seem to figure out why. Ominis on the other hand was struggling with flight class. Most reactions were pity, ignorance or simply; annoying. However, he is a wizard and wizards need to learn how to fly with a broomstick. His anxiety about everything is causing him to fail class which is more frustrating and anxiety inducing. He sneaks out to try and practice but has no luck. Sebastian knows if he tried to help him, it would embarrass him more but you... Ominis has a soft spot for.

Notes: I wrote this yesterday but realized I switched to first person vs third person too many times so I had to rewrite it a bit. I hope there are no typos and if there are well, I suppose that's what I get for rewriting it and not proofreading it again haha. Let me know what you think!
Words: 3,000
An ocean of red and orange wrapped you up in a solace. Leaves poured down and the sun peaked just barely through the dense forest. Between school, the additional assignments and trying to keep up with your ancient magic research, it was rare to have these moments. Your best friend has also been weird. He has been rather distant and avoiding you lately. Sebastian swears he is just in one of "those moods" but you couldn't help feel like it was your fault somehow. A gust of wind chilled you, it was time to go back.
"I thought I would find you here.." Sebastian's voice caught you out of thought.
"Oh yeah? How'd you guess?" You glance over at the brunette. He had a long wooly sweater with hints of green down the sleeves. It looked cozy and much warmer than your school uniform.
"You are always out when it's too cold out.." He sighs with a big huff. He shrugged his sweater off and slid it onto your lap. You look down at the sweater and then back at him. Protests rose from you but the sharp wind hit your skin again.
"Fine, but only this one time…"
"Yeah..I am sure there won't be another time...." He winked and sat down.
"Can you keep a secret?" He lowered his voice and watched you shrug his sweater on. It wasn't the first time the cold blood saved you, and it probably won't be the last.
"Ominis is…he's having a hard time (Name) and I don't know how to help him or what I can do…" His gaze shifts to the sky and he continues.
"I am worried about him. I haven't seen him like this in a while.."
"What's wrong?" You had wondered what was wrong but Sebastian knew and you felt guilt forming in your chest.
"He is failing a class and you know how he gets…I think he just needs you"
"Me? Why me? I am sure he wants his best friend to help him more than me–" Before you could finish your thought, Sebastian turned and squinted his eyes at you. It was an annoyed, 'are you done speaking' look that he held too many times.
"You know why. He gets irritated with me breathing too close to him but you, he doesn't even blink twice."
"I suppose you are right about that…" You spoke quietly and nodded your head in agreement.
"He's on the flight field…I think he had hoped with it being sunset no one would be around." He stood up and held his hand out for you.
A raspy groan let loose. You watched Ominis fall off his broom and onto the ground, again. His pale cheeks were red and his breathing was exacerbated. His murmuring stopped when you stepped closer.
"Sebastian, I stated that I would like to be alone." His voice curt and his eyebrows furrowed.
"I am offended that you thought I was him.." You giggled and stepped closer, now peering down over the blonde boy. He displayed a small pout and it was the cutest thing you had ever seen.
"Were you with him? You smell just like him.." His head tilted at the sound of your voice and a crinkle in his nose flashed. Your cheeks warmed and a blush crossed your features. You were a little embarrassed and a little nervous. Why did you feel nervous? It was just a sweater.
"I uh, he fussed over me. Claiming if I froze over there would be no one else to duel with. Threw his sweater at me….hey where's your hand?" You had gone to help him up but his lost wand concerned you.
"My…wand?" His hand searched his body and the ground underneath him. He groans louder this time and let out a deep sigh.
"It must have fallen when I fell….could you–" You reached down and grabbed his hand. Giving him a small tug, he sat up and shifted into a stand.
"Possibly it's by your broom?" This broom had been meters away. You hadn't realized how far he fell the second time you watched him.
You fell from all the way over there?!" Your voice was higher than you wanted it to but you were frustrated with him. He could have gotten seriously hurt.
"You are still holding my hand.." He mumbled and turned away. Despite his vision, he didn't want to face you. Was he embarrassed?
"I apologize, I just don't want you to get hurt….I'll go get your broom for you."
"No! I will get it! I don't need your help!" He shouted rather abruptly. He moved a couple of steps and then froze. His head tilted and a whisper in a different language let loose. He reached for a moment but stilled his grasp.
"Ominis…" Your voice was soft, you wanted to help him but you could see the frustration holding back every other emotion he was having. He wanted to get it himself but he needed his wand and to get his wand…he needed help. You weren't sure what to do. Do you run to grab his things quickly? Do you stay quiet and let him figure it out? Do you speak up and offer help again?
"I do not give credit to Sebastian, I am still freezing…my fingers are icicles, can you warm them up?" You reached your hand back for his. He didn't respond for a moment and you waited, breath held. He nodded slightly and his hand found yours again. You intertwined your fingers and stepped through the field without a word.
"Thank you (Name)..." He spoke gently and waited by the broom. Your other hand picks up the broom. The dull silver and a green embedded snake felt scaly. You handed the broomstick to him and released your hand from his. His wand had to be somewhere. You step carefully, worried you might step on it. After a few circles you found it. The wand had fallen into some mud. You brush it off in the lightly damped grass.
"There we go." You slid the wand into his other hand. He scoffed a bit and tilted his body away.
"I am an excellent wizard but I found I struggle in some areas…I fear.." His words were chosen carefully but in the end they ceased. A moment passed and the wind picked up. The yellow beams of sunlight were covered by a few clouds.
"The sun is still up there, we have time. Climb on to your broom."
"No- no I cannot– especially while you are here." His body moved back to face you and the previous pink from his cheeks started again.
"What? No– no I cannot, especially since you are here.."
"Do you trust me?" Your words caught him off guard because he was still.
"Yes…."
"Then step onto your broom." Your demand snapped him into action. He stepped onto his broom and he waited. The slender brown wand he had slinked into his pocket. Your hands made him jump. You tug at the knot around his neck. He opened his mouth but decided not to speak. Once untied, you snuck his wand out of his pocket. Wrapping the green tie around the broom, you push the wand against the broomstick. The tie held the wand against the silver.
"Okay, you are going to place your hands here…and here.." You stretched his hands out. One hand wrapped around the wand and the other below. Once he was set up, you moved onto the back of his broom. Stepping on, your hands wrapped around his torso.
"I think you are ready and I will be here if things get frustrating again."
"I uh…okay…" He nodded and pointed his head forward. In a second, you were off the ground. Stilled for a moment, he adjusted his grip and then you blew past the broomstand. The broom rocketed across the field and then made an erupt turn upwards. You let out a squeal and a soft yell. You held him tighter. He curved around the Quidditch Stands and over the gushing river. He turned his broom to avoid the Forbidden Forest. The warm pasture underneath you faded and the shade of trees grew. You entered a different part of the deep forest.
"Ominis! You have bested many I am afraid. I think you are going to be a Quidditch captain in no time!" Your lips had pressed against his ear while the blasting wind threatened to silence you. He chuckled and motioned you upwards again. The trees had not only darkened around you, but the sky did as well.
"Ominis…I think it might rain soon!" A droplet flicked your head and then another. Soon, a downpour came. The harsh rain pelted you. Ominis slowed the broom and a crackle of thunder sounded. Lightening followed and it lit up the deep violet sky.
"It is not safe to fly back…we will have to find shelter!" The broom descended to the earth. The forest was dense but not enough to catch all the rainfall. You had squinted your eyes and noticed a small cave by large boulders.
"There!" You grabbed his hand and pushed through the storm. When you approached the cave it was almost in total darkness. Thankfully it did not descend, just hid behind thick brush and rock. The rain trickled in through small cracks but it was thankfully enough coverage to hide from the monstrous lightening strikes. You hadn't realized but you did now, Ominis was almost trembling.
"Are you cold?" You whispered and looked through the dark cave. You muttered a spell and the cave lit up. It was bare and for a second you worried there was nothing to warm you up.
"No, well yes but that is not…not relevant." He murmured and held up his wand, he must have untied it when you looked around. He stepped closer to the wall and touched a burnt torch. It looked years old, maybe half a century.
"Incendio…" He spoke, aiming his wand at the torch. The torch flickered, stubborn to lit. Finally, the warm hue filled the cave and the warmth instantly drew a hum of content from both of you.
"Thank you (Name), I do think Ablie will be able to help me make an attachment for my broom."
"Of course Ominis, anything for you." You inched closer to him and the torch.
"I think we might be here for a while…it is not going to stop for a while…" Detention was expected once someone caught you and Ominis out past curfew. Silence filled the cave.
"I…I know it is not my business but it is all I hear in the common rooms…Youi and Sebastian…"He stopped before he finished his sentence. His head faced you and his milky eyes bore into yours. Goosebumps rose against your neck and a shiver slithered through you.
"Are we? Wait, are you asking if Sebastian and I are together?" You had a rush of emotions flood through you. You felt nervous because you had no intention of telling Ominis how you felt about him. Sebastian annoyed you for letting talk spread through the common rooms. Finally, you felt worried because if this conversation happened, what would that mean between you two?
"Yes. Your laugh is louder when he is around and you spend more time in..well caves than..others.." He gestured to the cave with a big sigh. Was he annoyed?
"No, we are not together. I do think when we get back I am going to have to duel him again because his ego seems to be deflating a bit."
"Why?" His question confused you. No, more than confused, it dumbfounded you.
"Why? As in, why are we not together or as in why his ego needs deflating?"
"Obviously his ego is too high but I am referring to you two being together.." He sighed a bit louder this time. Was this conversation bothering him? He was the one who brought it up in the first place.
"I am sorry, am I bothering you Ominis? I didn't know that expressing my disinterest in our friend annoyed you so much."
"How? His ego is inflated but for a reason. I hear girls approach him all the time and he doesn't give them a second thought. You are his best friend and he clearly cares for you." His words sounded supportive, in a way iit felt like he was trying to convince you to like Sebastian. His tone however, had an almost accusatory way. Sharp, quick and his eyes had narrowed when he spoke.
"You are my best friend Ominis. He is a close friend, yes. I cherish the memories I have with him but I never had interest in him and never will." You held your breath in an attempt to calm down your racing heart. A deep frown settled on his features. Rain had washed his hair down. The blonde strands barely touched the tip of his nose and his cape dripped on the cave floor. The sight of him made your heart flutter. His silence created a jumping feeling in your stomach.
"Ominis…why did you ask me about Sebastian?"
"Because you smell like him…" He muttered, almost inaudible.
"I…" You were speechless. Perhaps you let Sebastian pull this ruse to push other people away but if you did, it was so you could spend more time with Ominis. You grab the soaked sweater and throw it down on the ground.
"I suppose I did not help these rumors and I am sorry for that…But Ominis, I do not have any feelings for him. I know it is hard to tell at times but he is just a friend." He turned his head from you and it sparked something within you.
"I do have feelings for a friend, my best friend. The one that helps me with homework, the one that helps me escape Sebastian's continuous crusade, and the one that lets me help him when he needs help flying a broomstick.."
"You can't like me.." It was quick, airy and nauseating. He took a step back, hitting the stone. It looked like you scared him and horror flooded you. Of course he doesn't like you back. Maybe he knew you liked him and had begged you to like Sebastian instead. You glanced at the opening of the cave, it was pitch black by now. You could make it to Hogwarts, right? You started to gnaw the inside of your cheek. The beauty of today was drowned and you couldn't fix it.
"I apologize for making you feel uncomfortable…I just wanted you to know it wasn't Sebastian who I liked. I am sorry.." You whispered the last part– no longer having that spark of confidence. You shrink back against the stone behind you. You were going to swear an unforgivable curse to Sebastian when you got back. He made you believe that maybe you had a small chance or perhaps, he played a cruel joke on you. Tears threatened to spill and before you could stop them, they slid down. Quickly and quietly, you wiped them. You were thankful for once that he could not see. You felt bad for thinking it but then again, you embarrassed yourself enough tonight.
"Are you…crying?" He whispered. He stepped towards you. You froze and tried to wipe any evidence you were upset.
"No…the rain is dripping down from the cracked ceiling." This was the most embarrassing thing that had happened to you, aside from being late during the sorting ceremony and coming in as a fifth year. You wanted Merlin to strike another lightning bolt down.
"You cannot like me (Name). I am a Gaunt. My family…they would not approve…and in all honesty, you could never meet them. I would never want you to meet them. They destroy everything they touch and they can't ruin this– us. I suppose that is why I never stood up to Sebastian when he acted with his ego. I was jealous. He would be a better match for you. Not someone broken…" His voice dropped and he stopped moving when he was right in front of you.. He was trying to convince you to be with Sebastian but not because he thought you liked him, because he was too broken?
"Ominis, I do not care about Sebastian. I care about you, I like you and I know Ominis Gaunt. He is loyal to his friends, protective when they are hurt and kind. They will not ruin us if you have any say in it. You are not broken.." He had raised his hand and pressed them against your cheek.
"I trust you Ominis…" You touched his face, wiping wetness from his pale cheeks. He was frosted to the touch.
"I trust you too…"
"I also want to be with you…" You lean in and brush your nose against his. He took a breath and nodded slightly.
"I want to be with you too…"
"Good, for a moment I was worried you wanted to be with Sebastian." His hopeful smile turned into a quick glare. His hands left your face and wrapped around your waist. He pulled you in closer and pressed a small kiss on your lips. You jumped at the chilled touch but quickly closed your eyes. He held you close to him. Thunder boomed loudly again and he jumped. You pulled away and looked across his features.
"Are you frightened by the thunder?" His brows furrowed and his lips pressed into a straight line. He nodded very slightly and pulled away from your embrace.
"Do you still have his sweater?" You leaned down and picked up the soggy mess. Placing it in his hands, he held up his wand. Inched to the entrance, he tossed the sweater into the forest. You let out a laugh and shook your head. You step closer to him and wrap your arms around torso.
Flying Lessons || Ominis Gaunt -- Coming out tomorrow!
Please read my other works while I proofread! I am so excited for this one. I was worried about the length of it but with around 3.400 words, I am not worried any longer. I will post a small snippet down below~
An ocean of red and orange wrapped you up in a solace. Leaves pour down and the sun peaked just barely through the dense forest. Between school, additional assignments and trying to keep up with your ancient magic research, it was rare to have these moments. Your best friend has also been weird. He has been rather distant and it felt like he avoided you like a curse. Sebastian swore Ominis was just in one of "those moods" but you couldn't help feel like it was your fault somehow. A gust of wind chilled you, it was time to go back.
"I thought I would find you here.." Sebastian's voice caught you out of thought.
Summary: It was the end of the year, N.E.W.Ts were just weeks away and your boyfriend of two years dumped you. For what? So he wouldn't be weighed down and could go anywhere after the N.E.W.Ts. There is some aftercare but usually I like more. Please let me know what you think as this is my first smut I am posting online! Thank you!
Ps. I totally made a different version of seven minutes in heaven but I didn't like how short it was and the name sooo shhh haha.

"They say it was an old wing that was meant to be for Hogwarts but during construction a curse fell on the grounds so it was long forgotten.." Amit muses while he takes a swig of his butterbeer.
"Come on now, that cannot be true, could it?" Natty glances at you and then back at Amit. "I suppose if anyone would know, it would be you..."
"It is going to be fun, please, come with me! It might be dangerous and I need…" His cheeks flush and he glances at Natty again. It was obvious this boy was starstruck with her. Perhaps if you went with them, you could get your mind off him and maybe you could push Natty in flirting with Amit a bit.
"Yes, we will go with you Amit. You can stop asking now." You muse and take another drink. The Three Broomstick was like home, however, it is a bit dull now that you are all grown up. Same chairs, same smell, same patrons, same drink. Sirona will always be your girl but you needed to get a buzz she could not offer– especially to students.
"What are we going to wear?" Natty looked down at her school uniform, what do you wear to a party held in an ancient part of the castle? You take one more drink from your tankard and link arms with her.
"I am not sure but let's find out." She smiles and says a small goodbye to Amit. "Natty, do you fancy Amit?"
"What?" Her voice went from a calmness that helped you out many times to a shriek. Her face dusted a small pink and she quickly looked over her shoulder to see how far away you both were.
"Do not say such things (Name).." Her smile was forced downwards, repressed like most emotions were.
"I suppose I have never seen a Gryffindor be so…bashful. It is amusing, no?" She pushes you a bit and you let out a giggle. Leaving the The Three Broomsticks, you see a larger group of boys making it their way to you. A few of them you would like to avoid. Head down, you continue walking with Natty.
"Oh hey Natty, hey (Name)" Leander's voice caused your whole body to warm up. Your heart pounded and your palms grew sweaty.
"Hi Leander." Natty's voice had gone from the shrieky mess to a hardened gargoyle.
"You both going to the party later this week? I heard they have new instruments such as the guitar and saxophone, and a few special treats…there is even a mummy unwrapping for selective guests…" He whispers at the last part.
"Where did they get a mummy from? That is not appropriate–"
"Relax Natty. It's a fake of course. Anyways, you should come (Name), maybe we could…catch up a bit before the tests…" His voice churned your stomach. He dumped you a month ago and now he is discussing catching up? You both made plans on marrying after the N.E.W.Ts. You gave him everything those past two years, enough to make yourself publicly outcasted back home in London.
"We will be going but if you attempt any catching up I will feed you to the mongrels Lea." His old nickname slipped from your lips. Cursing inwards you pick your head up and move with Natty away from him and his pack.
In the mirror you examine your outfit. It was a skirt pulled up a little higher than society standards, a button up with the snake's logo, the buttons not fully done, and stockings cuffed down. They hugged just at the tops of your knees. Nibbling on your cheek, you let out a defeated sigh. Maybe you shouldn't go. He was going to be there and it's going to feed into this agonizing acid in your stomach. Imedla steps into the room and looks you up and down.
"Wow (Name)...that is definitely not for the common rooms.." She laughs softly and adjusts her blouse.
"Is it too much?"
"For pissing off bloody Leander? No. It's not enough. But I suppose this will have to do since we don't have many options here." She moves over and looks down at your shirt. "Here, let's unbutton one more for good luck." She unbuttons your shirt and now your breasts almost fell out.
"Imedla…" Your face felt warm and she shrugged. "Okay…let's go. I have to pick up Natty and Amit too."
"Amit? He is coming? That is….odd…"
"I am hoping this will get him and Natty to confess before we leave Hogwarts…" You sigh breathily, tonight was going to be hard work. You could hear her laughing more and she earned an eye roll.

The pillars holding up the massive additional wing had vines hugging every curve. Moss grew on the underside. Lush plants pressed against the castle and a dark oak door stood guard. Knock. Knock. A long pause. Knock. Knock. Knock. A long pause.
"What are you doing?" Amit tilted his head, watching you hit the door. The door opened, bright candles lined up the deep sandstone walls. Stepping into the large entrance was eerily quiet. This was where the large party was being held? The tile held every house symbol in a deep cobblestone.
"Where is everyone?" Natty's voice almost echoed in the large room. In the center there was a hint of a haze in the air.
"There is a Disillusionment Charm there." Amit points. The four of you walk toward the haze. Glances amongst each other, you found yourself touching the haze first.
Music flooded the room and the room darkened to a night shade. It smelled of rain and incense. It had been cool but now flashes of heat hit you. The room was filled with people and the tile was no longer able to be seen. Laughter, and music echoed the room and Amit's mouth was agape. This was what you were looking for.
"You made it!" A voice chirped and the freedom you felt dulled instantly. Your eyes drift to the red head. You haven't seen him much of this year and you were more than thankful to Merlin. His freckled kissed skin and his green eyes sent you in a rage.
"Wealsey. I suppose I don't know who else would organize something this…big." You clenched your teeth.
"Then you have missed my charms and efforts (Name), I am actually saddened we haven't seen each other as of late. I miss making your life oh so much better."
Better? He has given you so many failing grades, is he that delusional with his impact on your life? Fifth year was a different time, pranks were a fun way to let loose but then they became tiresome. He has set your projects on fire, spread rumors about you and Peeves- out of everyone, Peeves, he had set your beasts out of their pins and had poured ingredients in your cauldron without you looking. In fact, you have been to the infirmary wing more than once because of him. He was an absolute idiot. If you had to deal with him and Leander this night, you will need way more than a butterbeer.
"Right. Better. Where are the refreshments Weasley?" You didn't even look at him while you spoke. His face bothered you too much.
"They are over there, they are a special brew. I created it... inspired by you actually. The potion you made in class last year was an absolute treat. You remember when you tried some and Sharp that you lost your mind? You danced on the table for about a minute before he had processed what possessed you." His laughter was loud enough to make you turn back to face him.
"Do you mean my potion you spiked when I wasn't looking?"
"Hey, I gave you a delicious memory in sixth year, I am quite proud of myself…" His smile only grew.
You took a deep breath and walked away from him before you got violent. You walk to the refreshments and see the bubbling cauldron, the smell reminds you of the embarrassment. It took you so many curses to try and make everyone forget. Leander's voice was beside you and a shaky breath let out. You couldn't be by him right now. Taking some of the brew, you drink it quickly. Your skin hummed and a haze filled your head. Music bounced off the walls and you felt your body wanting to move. Guided by Natty, you both hit the dance floor. Swaying with each other, you move your hands up in the air. It felt like a cold mist sat above you and it cooled down your warming skin. A pair of hands move around your waist and a familiar scent hits your senses. Leander. His touch had you reeling your head back, hitting his shoulder gently. You missed his touch. You missed your skin being kissed. Maybe it wasn't so bad, catching up before the N.E.W.Ts....
"No…" you whisper before jerking your head up. You pull your body off him and turn, not even glancing at him. If you looked at him, you knew you would cave. You excuse yourself from the dance floor. Pushing past people you hear a few whispers of boredom. A thought came across your mind, you couldn't be with Leander if you were elsewhere. A muggle game came to mind. A smirk played on your lips and you began telling others of a game. An excuse for awkward teens ignoring societal chaperone rules.
"It is called Afterlife…. It is as if you shifted to the afterlife for some time. A way to express yourself without being pressured by society.. Muggles use bottles of beer to choose partners but why not make it more like us…" You slide your wand out of your stocking. "This wand will spin, it will choose a partner for you. You and the partner will get fifteen minutes of alone time. Let's see...." Your eyes drift around the party, trying to find a private spot.
"The forest. There is a forest out back, through those doors there." Garreth spoke up. At this point you did not care who was playing as long as it was not—
"Room for one more?" Leander spoke. You wanted to say no but some Ravenclaw agreed for him to play. He winked at her and you felt like you needed another brew.
"Okay, who's first?" Garreth spoke and glanced down at the wand on the ground.
"I'll go." You quickly spoke, you wanted to be far from Leander as Merlin could get you. You flick your wand and watch it spin. It felt like centuries before stopping. It had stopped directly in front of Garreth. Fuck.
"Well, I suppose a host should always demonstrate. Shall we?" He laughs softly and holds his elbow out. You bite the inside of your bottom lip and look at his arm. Could you make it to the door if you ran out of here now? Sighing a bit, you snag his arm. Your eyes betrayed you and you looked at Leander. His jaw ticked and you felt almost worried. Worried? Why would you feel– worried? Afraid to what, betray him? You almost scoffed at yourself. While you and Garreth walk past, you grabbed another brew from the refreshment table. Garreth stopped and watched you. He says something so gently. He grabs a brew and shoots it down. You go to leave but you watch him refill his tankard. He slurps it down again and then another. Pain hits you. Did he need this much to be private with you? After his third, you both leave the hot room.
The backdoors led to a forest almost instantly. It was clear they didn't finish building the portion of the wing. You look at the trees and let out a deep sigh. Edging closer to the forest, you wrap your arms around yourself. The warm spring air was enough but the discomfort chilled you.
"Are you cold?" His voice was quiet but you could feel his presence closer to you.
"No I am just…I don't want to be here.." You didn't mean to be so honest with him but the brew loosened your lips.
"Is it me? Did you wish for Leander..?" His question stopped you. You turned to look at him and his gaze was focused on the forest ahead of you.
"Yes…no…I… I don't know Wealsey…" You mutter, and follow his gaze to the forest. A silence overcame both of you. "I shouldn't miss him. I– he broke my heart. My trust. He always said we would get married after graduation…and I could lie and say it was sudden but I felt him pulling away months ago….lingering looks at…" A rage swirled in your chest. He was looking elsewhere before he even uttered a breakup.
"Lingering looks?" He turned and looked at you. His lips pulled upwards in disgust. "He looked at other girls while he had you?"
"I guess I wasn't enough.." A bitter laugh escaped you and you look at him. His green eyes had a freckle of gold in them. You never really looked at him this close, at least not in a long time. "I suppose that is why you had three brews before coming out here with me.." Merlin's Sake. This brew was going to be the death of you. Did it have truth essence in it?
"Me? You downed a tankard before I touched one…" He pulls back slightly, lifting his head the tiniest bit. His eyes narrowed and his tongue pressed against a canine tooth.
"Me? I was enjoying the party not downing a sorrow– you chugged three of them Weasley. Next time just tell a girl you don't want to go with her next time." A bitter laugh escaped you again.
"Who says I was drowning in sorrow? Suppose I was trying to catch up to you or working up the courage."
"The courage? For what? Tormenting me again?"
"Tormenting? That is what I do to you?"
"Yes. You are a complete bothersome. You distract me from my work, you…you.." You were a loss of words. He had turned so he was in front of you now. His eyebrows furrowed and his lips turned downwards. His lips were, have they always been that shade of pink? His freckles hugged the curvature and his jaw. A sharp jaw to be exact, when did he look so..handsome? Oh no. The brew. No. No.
"I apologize if I have been so…tormenting (Name). I suppose I was trying to distract you or myself that is."
"Distract me from what? Passing classes?"
"From him of course! We were best friends fifth year– if you even considered that. We used to prank everyone, swim by the boathouse, and…and…you were mine before he came around!" His voice was sharp and loud. It had taken you back. "I had you for every meal, every study hall, every time we weren't stuck in studies. He took you away from me. I became so pathetically desperate for your attention and affections. It was a humiliation ritual at some point." He whispers the last part.
"Weas...." You were lost for words. He steps forward, his body inching you back towards the tree trunk. His? Has he had an affection for you? You could not have possibly known he had and…a guilt settled in your chest. You didn't realize how much your friendship had meant to him.
"Garreth. (Name). Or did you forget how to say it with those pretty little lips of yours?" He moved his hands down. Your back pressed against the tree and his hands sat on either side of you. His body pressed against yours slightly and he gazed into your eyes painfully.
"I– what are you doing Wea–" You stutter, a whimper hitches the back of your throat. You felt heat spread through you.
"Distracting you again. Or what were your words….tormenting you?" He whispers, his hands grab your waist. He pulls you against him and his breath warms your cheeks now. "Let's forget about him shall we?" He hovers over your lips but doesn't move. You were frozen. You watched in horror? Excitement? You could feel your thighs trying to press themselves together and a pressure bubble in your stomach. You could feel time passing by and your heart beating rapidly. He clenches his jaw and his warm dissipates. He pulls away quicker than you could think. A disgruntled laugh escaped him and his eyes landed back on you. "Forget it. Go in and try again for him." He takes a deep breath and looks away.
"I hated you by the end of last year. I…I couldn't…" A sliver of chill ran up your spine. "I couldn't release…with him... and then you visited me in the infirmary and I could only think…of your voice when we were intimate…." You whisper, worried if you spoke louder the world would cave in on itself. His head snapped back and he stared at you. You couldn't breathe and your body trembled.
"Please…Garreth…I…I was foolish..I still am…but …come back." You were utterly embarrassed. You had spent so much time irritated with him and now here you are, begging him to be near you. He steps forward, and takes a deep breath in.
"I shouldn't…this brew has created this storm in me…(Name)...I am dangerous in this state.." His voice sent shivers down your spine again. You press against the tree and your hips judder upwards.
"Say my name again…like you mean it– like you missed it.." Even in the firm demand, there was a hint of sadness in it.
"Garreth….I have missed you..truely.." You hiss under your breath. He was against you soon after. His right hand grasps at the base of your neck. He presses his lips against yours. They were warm and sweet, similar to the cinnamon rolls from Honeydukes. His other hand snakes around your waist. Fingertips pressed against your ass, pushing you into him in one motion. Soon his lips escape yours and they travel down your jaw. Teeth grazing while he makes his work down to your neck.
"I missed you too, but I must say, you speaking of being intimate with him…especially when you couldn't release ... .angers me.." He hums against your neck. His teeth bite gently at the base, leaving a small mark where he kissed. Whimpers leave your mouth and his other hand reaches underneath your leg. He pulls your leg from the ground and wraps it around his waist. "Everyone deserves a release, wouldn't you agree?" His hand at the back of your head tugs your hair slightly.
"Yes Garreth.." You moan softly and the tension in your lower stomach grew harsher. His lips travel from your neck back to your lips. He presses a deep kiss, cinnamon spreading to both corners. The shiver of nerves spike up your neck and in your lips. It felt electric, nothing you had felt before. He pulls away from your lips and his green eyes bore into yours. "You are mine again (Name)...tell me that you are.." A confusion floods you, did he want to be with you romantically? Now? It wasn't the time to get together despite Leander's betrayal; the logic was there. You open your lips but you feel his hand move from your thigh to your underwear. He presses his fingers into the fabric and touches your clit. A moan leaves your lips. His fingers move slowly, teasing and your grip on his arm tightens. "Garreth…" you whisper and your hips buck up. It felt so good.
"Still haven't distracted you enough?" He releases a groan in the back of his throat. He was frustrated. You wanted to reach out but your thoughts trailed back to his circling fingers. They quickened their speed and his other hand pins your hip against the tree again. "Touch yourself darling.." His lips move back on your neck and travel down to the tops of your breasts. He had pulled his fingers away from your clit into your underwear. They drag across your folds, goosebumps run through you. Your hand acts quicker and you replace his touch onto your clit. Moving in a magnetic way, you began to moan. Your hip jerking up into his grasp and the coil in your stomach grows.
"Gar..." You haven't been touched like this before, it made you feel almost guilty receiving all this pleasure. He chuckles against your breast and bites down. You moan again and your hips jerk to his movement. You continue rolling your clit around in your fingertips, and feel the pressure in your stomach grow tighter. The hand on your hip moves away and up to your throat. He presses very softly while his lips move from your breasts and back to your lips. His fingers inside you quickly remove themselves and your body trembles from the lack of touch.
"Garreth?" Your voice came out harsher than you intended it to. You wanted his touch again, you wanted a release– no you needed a release. Your fingers on your clit stop, a feeling of uncertainty runs through you.
"Say you are mine and I will give you a release." His heavy breathing caught your attention. You had forgotten about his body in all honesty. His freckles hid behind a deep blush on his face. Chest heaving and his lips started to swell. Your eyes met with his and your lips let out a gurgled moan of frustration.
"Yes, I am yours Garreth. For the love of Merlin please. I am yours. I am yours!" You shout louder at the last part. He nods and swallows roughly. He works on his pants, unbuckling his belt, he threw it down on the ground. His pants unbuttoned, he slide them just enough for his underwear to reveal itself.
"I need more of you (Name). Do you want more than my touch?" His consideration was frustrating beyond this point. You groan and your fingers snag at his trousers. You dig your hands in and feel his hardened cock. It pulsated in your hand. He moans roughly while your fingers pull him out of his trousers.
"Give me more Garreth." You whisper and he nods in response. Pushing your underwear to the side, he lines himself up. You saw a hesitation in his eyes and you opened your mouth to say something. Before you could, he thrusted inside of you. A loud moan spews out from both of you. He attempts to thrust upwards but his grip on you slips. Your leg falls off his waist and he slipped out of you.
"I– I am sorry I–" His voice quietened and his gaze lost yours. "I have not done..this.." His eyes cast downward.
"You did all that and you haven't...Garreth, lay down." You see him get some spark back and he nods. He sits down on the ground and then shifts on his back. You quickly follow suit. Straddling him, your eyes meet again.
"Are you ready?" He nods quickly and you slide yourself back onto him. He moans and jerks his hips up. You breathe out and press your hips into his. "Like that..keep going like that.." You feel him jerk upwards again and then back down. You moaned loudly and felt your pressure build back up. One of his hands grabs your waist and the other travels up to your breast. He squeezes your breast while thrusting up into you. His breathing turned into whimpers. You hips come down into his quicker and your hand touches your clit.
"(Name)! Time is up! Where are you?" Leander's voice shoots through the air. You widen your eyes and look down at Garreth. He freezes his motions and watches you for a moment. A smirk spreads across his face and he whispers words you couldn't hear. His hips snap back upwards, ripping a moan out of you. You force a hand on your mouth and shook him a look.
"Garreth–"
"A disillusionment charm…he can't see or hear us…unless you want to stop…" His fingers leave your breast and hip. They travel to your thighs and give them a squeeze. This time, the coil in your stomach almost made you nauseous. You shake your head and move your hips again. He thrusts quicker this time, moaning loudly. Every thrust, his grip tightened.
"You are perfect, so perfect....(Name)-- I..I feel close…" His breathes were airy and his voice higher than before. The pressure in your stomach becomes unbearable. Rocking your hips into his, your fingers quicken on your clit. Eyes closed, your moan loudly. Your voice becoming soft and broken.
"Garreth....garreth ..please.....release- release with me.." You whisper like its a curse. You had collapsed into his chest, unable to move while you felt yourself clenching him. A snap in your abdomen and a shiver sprouts through you. He shutters and releases, filling you with warmth. The noises from you blur and his arms wrap around you. He tightly holds you, pressing his face into the crook of your neck. His breathing was harsh and he gasped out your name.
"(Name)...that was…I cannot even describe.." He whispers, his lips trail your jaw gently. "I missed you more than you could have known…" His words burn into your skin.
"I missed you too Garreth.." You spoke before your brain could catch up. This would make a mess of things, especially in a week. But for now, the haze dulls out any thoughts you could have. His embrace makes you feel safe. There was no one else but you and him. You feel him adjust, pulling out. Your body ached for his touch but he doesn't let you go.
"Let's just stay out here..." He whispers and you nod your head, unable to open your eyes. Sleep threatened you and you let it win.

"I will be back in one month, Eleazar, you will both be fine.." Miriam giggled softly. She embraces her husband, stroking his cheeks.
"But Miriam…" He whispers the desire for a private conversation. A lot has changed between the two, and it was hard to not blame myself. I studied my clogs, the warm brown was polished and the colorful floral fabric peaked from the insides. It was my last birthday present from her, from Poland I think? It was the last time she traveled and both me and Eleazar knew she craved more.
"Very well…(Name), come over dear." Miriam's voice always felt like the sun.
"Yes?" I walked to her and felt her arms wrapping around me. "I cannot wait to hear about the train ride to Hogwarts...I wonder what house you will be in?" She hummed with a bright smile on her face. "I am going to miss you my sweet…" Her fingers squeezed me again and I let out a breath I had been holding.
"I am going to miss you…" I felt the tears fill my eyes, every time she left it felt colder.
"Oh I am going to be late!" She pulled away from the deep hug. Her luggage was a single suitcase and her broom sat against the wall. "Please take care of each other! I love you both very much." She leans forward, kissing Eleazar on the cheek and then mine.
"Don't forget your broom dear…" Eleazar chuckled while he watched his wife step out the door without it. Glancing back at me, he sighs gently.
"Only for a month.."

The sounds of the carriage captured my attention. My breathing attempts to steady and my harsh heartbeats hurt my chest. I had been pacing, my black boots could have indented the tile beneath me. The doors opened and Eleazar appeared. He cleared his throat but stood there silent. The air had been so heavy between us, it was hard to breathe. Leaving the front door to my home felt hallowing. Outside was brisk, I tightened my coat around me. The dark clouds threatened to rain any minute.
"Ah, it appears we are almost ready to depart. I presume you have been practicing the spells we worked on.." His voice was soft but he did not look at me.
"Yes professor, I have." I knew it was a bit much, me using his title. However, if he insisted I were to attend Hogwarts this year then I could not simply call him Eleazar whilst I was in school.
"You are forced to be reckoned with…especially once you get your own wand I am afraid…" He mutters, now looking at me. His eyes were widened but his mouth was firm, I couldn't tell what he was feeling but in all honesty, I do not care much. "(Name)..." He had started when an apparition appeared.
"Oh, Eleazar!" George says chipper, he smiles at me and then back at Eleazar. He begins speaking about his journey here and I couldn't hold the conversation. George had come to the house for dinners and to discuss work with Miriam from time to time. My attention was captured by Peabody. The owl chirped, tilting his head at me. An amused giggle left my lips a bit and I moved over to him. He pushes his head into my chest with a small purr noise. My hands brush his feathers. He missed Miriam as much as I did. He was the one piece I had of her I could bring to Hogwarts.
"Ah yes, we have a start-of-term feast and a Sorting Ceremony to get to.." Their voices caught my attention. I whispered a goodbye to Peabody and moved back to the men. We stepped into the carriage and I heard George speak up.
"As long as your daughter doesn't mind me tagging along?" George knew I was adopted but not many did. Then again, if others questioned as to how the Figs had any children– that conversation was not held in my presence.
"Not at all, sir." I give him a small smile before resuming daydreaming out the window. The carriage shoots upwards and into the sky. The dark clouds enshroud the carriage and thunderous booms shoot through the cabin. I was thankful we would be above this mess, if we left any later we would have had a harder time. Our carriage pushes past the dark storm and emerges in the golden yellow glow above the clouds.
"How extraordinary, a new student starting as a fifth year…" George spoke, and I could feel an annoyance sit in between my eyebrows.
"Yes yes…It is indeed, none of the faculty has ever heard of anyone being admitted to Hogwarts so late…" They begin discussing my late start date and all the work I have done and will have to continue doing. My thoughts led me elsewhere from the conversation. I also did not want to think of how I was supposed to start years earlier. She was supposed to be here with me. The clouds were beneath our carriage but the mist stirred. A hint of something more was below us, the misty form almost looked like a distant dragon? Odd that it was this close to our carriage..
"Miriam? How?" Eleazar's voice edged while he leaned forward. My attention from the mist was drawn back to the men.
"She wrote to me about Ranrok before she died– wondering what the Ministry knew about his activities…before I could respond, I received this. It was the last thing she sent me, Eleazar….it had no correspondence.…" George held a long silver tube. A swirl in the middle of an oval in the center of the tube. It had hints of deep green in the metal.
"I had only kept it for all these years, to investigate but I cannot open it. It is protected somehow…and with the news of Ranrok as of late… I assumed.."
"That she had to get rid of it quickly to keep it safe…" Eleazar's voice wavered while he took the long tube from George. He looks at the fine metal muttering how it looked of goblin metal. I meet his glistening blue eyes. All these years he hadn't cried when she passed. It felt like it was a bad day for him then..nothing. I often felt alone. I didn't feel alone with him, I just didn't feel the same warmth as I did with her. I feel so guilty for feeling that way. Him and I used to do puzzles, discuss books and magic theories, laugh, but now I just can't help but feel this dullness– the emptiness now.
"There's a glow to it…there.." I hope I could avoid his gaze. My thumb touched the swirl, the blue hue seized my hand.
"I don't see a glow…" Eleazar looks back at the tube and slides the tube into my hands. I stroked the metal again, the light traces the oval. It opens with a hum, revealing a long key inside. I could hear whispering, I looked at him, curious but hesitant. They didn't speak. I hover over the key when his voice stopped me.
"Wait! We do not know what-" Eleazar's voice was cut off by a sudden explosion. Pieces of wood crackled, spewing into the air and into my face. Harsh bits cut into my cheeks. I could feel something wet drip down my cheek.
The carriage was split in half and George was taken in the other half. Eleazar reached out for him with one hand and the other pushed me against the seat harshly. Its red glowing eyes pierced into me. It was a dragon. A scream left me and my vision focused on the scaled creature's mouth. George.
"Apperate George!' My throat was sore from the scream I held, and the dragon's teeth snapped shut. I tore my gaze away. Please, please let George live– I looked behind me and could see the thestral pulling the carriage, tears stung the cut on my cheek.
"Jump!" I could feel Eleazar's grasp on my shoulder and a shove from the carriage. Harsh winds blistered while I fell through the sky. I could still hear the roars behind us but I did not dare look at the dragon. The tube had fallen with us and the key escaped its grasp. I reached out for the key, my fingers touching the cold metal. I clenched in my palm so tightly my nails dug into my skin. I could hear Eleazar say words but I couldn't place what he said.
Then there was darkness.
.
.
.
My lungs felt like they were under water and my body grew immensely tired. The cut on my cheek had dried and I had no idea how long I had been out.
"Professor?" The room swallowed my voice. "Eleazar? Are you okay?" Please, let him be okay. I cannot…my body trembled even thinking about him not being more than okay.
"Okay…" I found the key was still in my hand. Wherever I was, it didn't dishevel me. I squinted, trying to see through the darkness. To no avail, I was in the abyss. Okay, think. Oh a spell! I place the key in my pocket and search for my wand. I pull out the dark ashy wand. What was that spell?
"Luna-mos?" The wand remained still. Sighing, I close my eyes. Focus.
"Lunmos?" Nothing. At least it was easy enough to tell that Ravenclaw won't be my house.
"Lumos!" I shout, the tip of my wand glows and the room illuminates just enough to see what was around me. The floors were glass and I could see hints of blue radiating off of it. Tall pillars were afar and only darkness beyond that. I step towards the pillars, at least I would have a landmark from there. Whispers cradle the back of my head again. I tried focusing on the words but it felt like another language. A burning feeling, someone watching feeling, grabbed my backside. I looked behind me but like before, there was no source. I quickened my pace, the pillars only slightly closer. My light bounces off and a figure catches my eye.
"Eleazar!' My boots should be echoing off the floor while I run but they don't. I threw my hands out and instead of him, I hit a harsh stone. Wincing, I tilt my gaze at the figure. A stoned knight. What? I looked beside me, there was another on his left and another on his right. They were forming a triangle.
Their reflections in the glass move when I step from them. I inch to see all of them from the same distance. Like a clock, a click and a shift happens. The stoned knights awaken and Unsheathe their swords. They march forward, swords up towards me. Merlin. I don't know too many spells, at least not defensive ones. The one on the right swings its sword at me. I raised my wand at him and could feel a bolt blast from the wand. A red energy smashes into its chest. It stumbles, I focus on the same feeling again. More bolts of energy radiate. A second knight throws its sword at me. I jump to my left, rolling on the ground. In a heavy sigh, I throw another bolt at the second knight. It lands on his helmet and it crumbles beneath me. Where's the third one– I turned around and a sword threw itself above my head.
"Protego!" A bubble forms around me, my chest hurts. The sword clashes against the bubble and it disappears. I send another bolt of energy and push the knight far from me. Again. Again. Again. Finally my fourth shot bursted the stone. Finally…
In the darkness, an archway was not too far from the knights. The pillars were twisted stone and the space between them was the same blue hue as the tube. Through the doorway, the cold was achy and whispers assaulted me. I placed my hand on the light and the blue hue lit up. Stepping through the doorway, the cold dissipates and I can breathe. Not from relief but actually breathe crisp autumn air. Trees were all around me and I could hear a creek running alongside.
"(Name)! Please!" A familiar voice hurled its way through the trees. He was yelling, something I never heard him do. My feet acted quicker than I could. I ran to his pleas. The creek was between me and him, at this point I didn't care. Hiking up my dress, I step into the creek. The water was freezing and deeper than I thought. It hit my thighs when I centered it. Getting out was harder than stepping in. My chest, covered in mud, my boots engulfing all the filth and I hope no leeches, I slide down further into the mud.
"(Name!)" He stood in front of me, his chest heaving at his labored breathing. Grabbing my arm, he pulls me from the sinking hole I created.
"I am so sorry, I had meant for us to apperate here but you were gone. I had no idea where you ended up and I-" His voice left him and tears dripped down his cheeks. "I thought I lost you too.." His arms crush me in a deep hug. He smelled of pine and an old book. I could feel the tremble in his body. My arms wrap around him and I crush him back, if not harder.
"I am okay…" The empty years did not erase my love for him. We could have ended up worse– like George.
"We are going to be late….and Headmaster Black will not allow that." He wiped the tears from my cheeks I didn't know I had. I nod at him and he takes my hand. We walked quietly to the castle together. I wanted to tell him where I had gone, ask him what the key was for, why a dragon attacked us, if he was okay about George but we didn't have the time.
The castle came into view and it was enormous. All the lights just reveal more parts of the castle. We cross the bridge and open the large castle doors. Instant laughter echoed in the hallways. Loud commotion and conversations were flooding the castle and it overwhelmed me a bit.
"That seems more than appropriate.." He mutters. "Besides, I could not have had you a muddy mess for your sorting ceremony.."
"Thank you Eleaz - professor Fig...." I felt a twinge of an upset stomach calling him professor this time. A tall man with raven black hair emerges behind Eleazar. His glare was sharp and the first words were scolding. He threatens my sorting hat ceremony and that gives it away– this is the headmaster. A twitch in my nose was hard to hide.
"Very well.. Let us see if we can have you sorted." He spoke firmly and quickly returned to the Great Hall.
"See you soon kiddo." Eleazar kisses the top of my head and slinks off. I took a deep breath, this was it. I couldn't think now because if I do, my body would run the other way. Stepping through the doors, I see the impatient look from the headmaster. Nodding slightly, I quickened my step. The floating candles twinkled and loud chatter almost hurt. Smells of food hit my noise and I couldn't tell if I was starved or nauseated.
"Professor Weasley, We've one more to be sorted." A declaration from the headmaster made my insides turn. I am going to be ill.
"Welcome. You're just in time. Have a seat." Her voice was sweeter than his but had the same firmness.
The chatter did not cease on my count and I was rather thankful for that. In the chair I look at the tables. Where do I look? Should I stare at Hufflepuffs? Miriam and Fig always said I was their little Hufflepuff, an embarrassing nickname nowadays. Then it would be too obvious, maybe I should look up at the candles? Then I would look rather too nervous in front of all my peers. Maybe I should look at an opposing house..
"Ah yes– a bit older than the others, aren't you?" Its gravelly voice chimed. "You come here with preferences and preconceptions – certain expectations…" Did he mean this as an observation or was this a question?
"Indeed..hmmm I wonder…I detect something in you. A certain sense of– hmm..what is it? You recently learned something, something rare. An ability perhaps...power…you belong in Slytherin!"
Slytherin?! No…no I cannot be in Slytherin… nothing's wrong with Slytherin I just— I am a Hufflepuff, their little Hufflepuff. I can't be…I no– the hat is wrong. Should I say something?
"I am never wrong, so much as a thought proves how less wrong I am." Its voice was curt and I could feel my chest tighten. I look for any escape, was Eleazar here? Was he watching my ceremony? Looking at too many faces, none was his. The hat was taken off my head. I look back at the table of green and a warm set of brown eyes startle me.
