Nah cause fr fr.
If you subscribed to say 8 patreons.
Im not gonna say names but give a example off their highest usually most exclusive tiers:
$30
$25
$15
$10
$8
$5
$3
$1
Your paying all of that per month correct?
Added up thats: $97 in total. So if your paying $97 every month thats $1,164 a year.
In comparison the sims 4 most expensive pack is about $40-$50(USD)And they a expansion pack every single year followed by a stuff pack($10)and a game($20) pack a couple of months after within that year.
In total thats $80 a year.
So your paying MORE for custom content than you are for the game as a individual person.
Indont even pay that much for my netflix and hulu subscription a year
And yall keep saying “EA is money hungry”
Yep they are. Definitely agree.
But as a individual consumer, your paying WAY more a YEAR for custom content. Not to count alot of these creators are inconsistent. They could EASILY pause your monthly payments if they know they arent gonna create that month or refund you. Because they advertise it as monthly creations.
Especially for content that is more than likely conversions from imvu, secondlife, turbosquid, 3dsky and more.(Dont believe me? Go look on those websites, bet you’ll find alot of stuff)Also Content that isnt even worth how much its cost. Im talking about simple recolors of other cc, flat plane hairs, bad textures, bad meshes, and bad attitudes.
Should creators make money off their content? Yes. Absolutely should, those who work hard on their stuff and the quality SHOWS it. And they actually made their stuff from scratch at that.
I am also a creator, not a good one outside of my skins, and thats why outside of my poses and the skins I make for commissions(Still on break), I dont charge for my cc. Im not going to make people pay for something I feel is bad quality.
The quickest way to end this debate is to do the following:
Early access tier AND a exclusive tier. You still get to make money, everyone has a chance of getting your content, and you are within EAs TOS when it comes to paywalls.
All in all:
Nobody asked you to make cc. You CHOOSE to.
If you want a career in 3d meshing, rendering and etc: Secondlife is an amazing option, there are also 3d modeling platforms where you can make meshes and upload them and still have liscense and rights to your own content.
Why not go there? Why not take your talents to them? Or is the reason because your stuff wouldnt be accepted on those platforms due to the many issues and quality stuff created has? Or maybe because the stuff is stolen in some cases?????
100% CORRECT ON EVERY F*CKIN WORD AND POINT!!!!!!!Â
