Is Eclipse aware that hiding things from those you love and care about can cause bigger problems in the future when found out?
Sun and Moon clearly love Eclipse greatly, and he clearly loves them, their relationship and feelings make them a strong family that would not be torn apart unless one tries to seriously hurt another(something we are all aware wouldn't ever happen) So I doubt Sunny and Moony would leave or hate Eclipse if he opened up about his past and the...instinctual habits...that Taitens often have. Eclipse doesn't seem to show any of those...wants in eating his own kind or family, so I doubt they will see him as a monster. Especially when told the whole truth.
They might be a bit confused at first, and may be emotional about it, but its not that much different from telling a child something heavy and important. It will take time to process and understand, but they will get there and no doubt still adore Eclipse despite his painful past and origins.
Keeping it hidden, especially when they can interact with other beings, just makes the pain harder to bare for all three of them. But also, Eclipse should not be silently suffering with that pain.
They wouldn't want that at all and would probably be more hurt that Eclipse felt the need to hide. They are your family, and family rely on each other. The best way for all of you to heal, is to be trusted and able to help each other.
So, maybe if you aren't ready now, at least consider opening up. Even if its slowly over time, thats good enough. Tell them that you want to be open with them but need time. At least knowing that you trust them and want to try and be open with them will definitely make things better and easier to handle.
Maybe start by telling them the cannibalistic tendencies that Taitens are raised on. That way they can see that there is still hope even in the darkest places and time, bc you exist to prove that.
Maybe start off by telling them about what being the smallest and weakest meant to your birth family. Being able to know what behaviour and morals you were raised on and how kind you grew to be regardless, might help them understand that its not always instinct that drive a creature.
Idk what you may want to start with nor what is small enough, but just know. Even small things have big positive impacts. And with time, everything will be okay. Bc you have each other, and as long as you have each other to love and trust, you will all be okay.
