look i know this is a bit niche, but I would die for the human who wrote this pattern description. maybe you won’t feel the same if you haven’t spent hours and hours reading knitting pattern blurbs by the designer or the designers hype person.

The double knitting technique is great. It has a light side, and a dark side, it binds the scarf together… you can see where I’m going with this can’t you. I only found out about double knitting this past summer and got monumentally carried away. This Star Wars Scarf is just one of the results.

Edit: For everyone asking I used UK size 10 (3.25mm) needles and the yarn was a reasonably priced dk weight (8ply). I used about 150g of each colour but I knit pretty tightly so you may want to get extra.

The Department of Extraordinary Embroidery can’t get enough of these exquisitely stitched miniatured foods created by Japanese artist ipnot (previously featured here).

“After discovering embroidery from her Grandmother and then being fascinated by the French knot, ipnot has spent years perfecting her hand-embroidery art and today creates “paintings” using just needles and yarn.”

Working with a collection of 500 different colors and shades of yarn, ipnot creates everything from bowls of soup and sushi rolls to fruits and vegetables to chocolates bonbons and more. Each tiny creations is remarkably realistic.

Our favorite piece is this embroidered miniature matcha, which actually looks frothy and ready to drink:
