25% is better than 0%. trying a little is better than not trying at all. eating a protein bar is better than nothing. using dry shampoo is better than not showering. cleaning one section of your room or house is better than not cleaning any of it. writing a paragraph of your essay is better than not starting it. whatever you can manage today is okay. you can try again tomorrow. little steps are to be proud of.

i went to a local protest today for VINCENT TRUITT
it was truly inspiring to listen to his story and talk to his family members, i was so happy to be out there to support my community and rally for justice. not just for vincent, but every victim of the criminal justice system
as a white person i know i don’t have a lot of experience with police brutality, i haven’t seen it first hand, it hasn’t affected my family, but that doesn’t make it any less real. if you’re white, i urge you to seek out protests/rallies/marches in your area and GO OUT, LISTEN, FIGHT!
i went to this event thinking i knew almost everything, but it didn’t. i learned SO MUCH from just being there, because you won’t ever have the whole story if you’re watching from a screen. there are people actively trying to suppress information, and it’s working. so we need to yell louder, we need to spread our message to EVERYONE not just the political bubbles on the internet. there were probably less than 70 people out there today, a majority of them were families of victims, but the amount of people in the square who cheered and watched us as we marched came from all walks of life, all races, sexualities, political parties, etc. we made them watch and listen to us, even if they didn’t want to. every person who was in that square went home with something to think about, but if we weren’t there it would just be another shopping spree/lunch/coffee date/work kind of day

the perfectionism in the “zero waste”, vegan, and environmentalist communities is insane and totally unattainable especially for teens/young adults and from what i’ve seen that’s their target audience. i’m not getting into how we should be getting large corperations to be held accountable for their actions against the environment, that’s another post
but for example, being vegan/vegetarian is incredibly hard as a young person. either you’re living with your parents who now have to constantly check labels and buy new products to fit your diet or you’re on your own paying almost triple the price for products with no animals in them. this is coming from a vegetarian
and this “fuck fast fashion” mentality can really only be applied to cis people that have stopped growing. trans people that have recently come out need new clothes to fit their gender & feel comfortable. growing kids & teens need new clothes to fit their bodies! and while thrift stores do have good clothing, it can be hard to find things that will last another season. yes fast fashion is bad, but sometimes it’s a great temporary resource for people that are changing
this new wave of people bashing others for donating to thrift stores, being “only” vegetarian, or not being plastic free is crazy & shows how much privilege they have. being environmentally conscious is hard, and not everyone has the resourses to do it. what matters is they’re trying their best, any little bit helps even if it’s just passing on info

you don’t even have to label your sexuality if you don’t want to! love who you want to love and be who you want to be, don’t let labels restrict that

okay, but the way you phrased it made it seem as if you were saying that not using labels is the norm and using labels needs to be defended as the outlier that goes against the grain, when really there's a lot of pressure to pick a label for baby queers and it was specifically messages like op's that helped me not spiral into "is this the Right Label for me, is it okay if it's an umbrella or do I need to go hyperspecific"
