hello!

I misidentify animals. Feel free to send asks with animals for identification! Please only submit photos that you have taken personally or have permission to share (with photo credit as needed), or public domain images. No AI. More info under the cut!

• This blog mostly runs on a queue- asks may take a while to be published either because they are in the queue or I can't think of something funny to say. I do see your animals and love them<3

• I try to look at my mentions once in a while but if you'd like me to ID something in a post the best way is to DM it to me so I get a big obvious notification about it.

• I will most likely not post animals that are dead, injured, or in distress. To the best of my ability I will also not post anything showing unsafe human-animal interactions or poor husbandry, but I am not an expert on every animal so if you see something concerning please let me know! Animals with a healed injury (such as pets with a missing limb/eye) or animals who look like they're dead when they're asleep (it happens) are totally OK but it's a good idea to provide some clarifying information.

• Predator-prey interactions and carcass feeds/etc. will be accepted on a case-by-case basis but as a general rule I won't post anything gory. A pelican with a fish in its mouth is probably OK but a puma tearing into a vicuña not so much.

• Please don't be rude to people who make genuine mistakes identifying animals. Everyone has a different knowledge base and the secondary purpose of this blog is to help educate people about different animal species (the primary purpose is shits & giggles).

• We love all animals around here- that includes wasps, snakes, spiders, whatever creepy crawly you can think of. Calling an animal weird (affectionate) or joking about how silly they look is totally cool, but "ew kill it with fire" and similar comments will get you blocked.

• Racism/homophobia/transphobia/ableism/general bigotry will not be tolerated. This is a silly animals blog and I probably shouldn't have to say this, but it's also Tumblr, so.

• If you run an animal blog (or any blog) that I reblog from and you'd prefer me not to/want me to take down a post, please let me know!

• Aside from that, go crazy :)
