A hindu man was beaten, stripped naked and burned alive in Bangladesh recently for alleged blasphemy against the prophet of Islam. This is another such lynching in a series of attacks on the Hindu minority of the country following Sheikh Hasina’s ouster.

OPERATION SINDDOR: a summary
Credit to Kushal Mehra
I am so sick of people going around saying 'OmG InDia Has StaRTed WaR. It Is ATtacKiNg InNocenTs'. Freaking it never did? it has attacked on The Terrorist BASE CAMPS. And about the children dying do you think those children are not being trained to be a terrorist? Fucking hell. It was a precise attack not targeted at civilians but terrorists.
And to all those who say 'nothing can justify war' oh really? so what, you want us to just shut up while those terrorists invade...yes INVADE into our country kill the innocent and threaten our existence and we just shut up and be like 'oh okkk let's just endure this silently and they'll get bored of this'? dude outsiders really don't understand the severity of it do they. Bitch do you even realise that there are nearly 100...100! sleepers cells of Pakistani terrorists in Bangalore alone!! which is like one city. Now does it sound serious? now does it invoke fear of your existence? imagine there are nearly 100 sleeper cells or terrorists in your city who can launch an attack on you at any moment. Then? now shall we stay silent? now shall we talk about peace? no they must be gone. yes I do agree that we must not attack innocent civilians and I do hope that this won't turn into a full blown war. But the terrorists...who are an abomination to the world and in fact to their religion too. must be eradicated. Every play has turns to play. Pakistan played it first. And now it's our turn. It's only natural. Every action has an equal and Opposite reaction.
Scary? my god you're divine 🪷
Welcome to part 3 of my Vinay Varanasi.
So I went to his live show yesterday on 'Rukmini Kalyanam'. And I just have 2 takeaways from it
1. When the world wants to stop you and come in the way of you and the divine, you don't beg them to leave you and support your decisions. You take matters into your own hands and contact the divine yourself. Just the way Devi Rukmini did. The way she didn't go around begging her father and brother repeatedly for them to to change their decision, she just took matters into her owns hands and decided to direct that desperation towards the divine i.e., Krishna.
2. The Rahasyam of the Letter and Krishna's interaction with the Brahmin Sunanada. Krishna after paying his respects to the Brahman ask a question. He asks if he doing his Dharma the way he supposed to? Is he tranquil in heart and mind? Is he content? For of the mind is not tranquil or content then he will not be able to stay in such a place, the way the reflection is not clear in a rippled water surface. And the person who is doing their Dharma, in content and tranquil...he will be there. Now why is he asking these questions to this Brahman? The answers are given in Rukmini's letter. Rukmini in her letter clearly says that I have done my Dharma the way it is to be done. I am confident with what I did and am content with it. And that if her Dharma palana has pleased narayana, then you will have to come and get me. Like look at the tone and conviction in her letter. She is so confident about her dharma and her Sadhana. That is the tone of a Bhakta. There is no question of doubt or uncertainty. Their is one conviction and confidence through Manasa, Vacha and karamana. The one who upholds their dharma always and does his sadhana to the divine. The divine is always their.
3. Now while listening i thought playfully, how rude of Kanha that he didn't even reply to Rukmini's letter. But then...he did reply. Look at the questions he has asked the Brahman and the letter sent by Rukmini and connect them. Rukmini has done her Dharma and is content with what she has done and thus asked Krishna to come and rescue her. To which Krishna said that the one who do their dharma, are tranquil and content in the mind he will always be there. Tho he said it to the Brahman, but it still is an answer indirectly saying that he is always there with her and will come to her rescue. So in short, You do what you are supposed to be doing and keep calm in both mind and heart, with confidence in your Sadhana with no doubts of what ifs, shame and guilt (for these are the pashas sent by your mind clouded by ego, like the 8 pashas sent by shumbh and nishumbh to bind Koushiki. You ask how did she enter here? we'll aren't they that same tatvam. They are just same energy in opposite genders) and you will find the krishna coming to rescue you from many Rukmis and Shishupalas.
These are the lessons I've learnt from his talk. But there are also many cute and heartwarming aspects he spoke that had me giggling with butterflies in my tummy but that's for another time.
Me and my tiger balm against the world (of academia) 👍👍
gentle reminder you can rise up from everything. you can recreate yourself. nothing is permanent. you are not stuck. you have choices. you can think new thoughts. you can learn something new. you can create new habits. all that matters is that you decide today and never look back.
The Elle Woods Mindset
.
Legally Blonde is a film duology released in the early 2000s (2001 and 2003 respectively) that trains the spotlight on the vivacious and fabulous Elle Woods, a college going young woman from a rich household, and her journey to become a successful, formidable lawyer. Although I was born after the films were released, I watched them with my cousins at the age of eight, and since then the character of Elle Woods has been fascinating to me. Even all these years later, I will never turn down an opportunity to rewatch the films, simply because they are just so good.
Elle Woods, played by actress Reese Witherspoon, is introduced to us as a seemingly ditzy, pink obsessed stereotypical blonde who believes she is about to be proposed to by her boyfriend, Warner Huntington III. However, contrary to her belief, Warner breaks up with Elle, because “if I’m gonna be a senator, I need to marry a Jackie, not a Marilyn”. This sets off a series of events in which Elle proves to be one of the best written characters of all time, and her mindset is the driving force behind her actions.
So what is the Elle Woods Mindset?
It is quite simple, really: if you want something, go get it.
You might ask me, “what do you mean, Kali? It can’t be that simple!” and you would be right. Of course it is not that simple. The trick is, the Elle Woods Mindset makes it that simple.
Elle Woods, in her misguided attempt to get Warner back, decides to get into Harvard Law School, a notoriously difficult goal to achieve. She talks to her counsellor, notes down what she needs to do to be accepted into Harvard, and she simply… does it. A “heck of an admissions essay”? No problem, Elle is on it! A minimum 175 out of 180 on the LSATs? Elle scores 179 out of 180. The minute she hears the towering heights she needs to reach to even set foot into Harvard, the only thing she says is, it can’t be more difficult than having to judge a tightie-wightie contest, and honestly, that is so obnoxiously fabulous of her.
Elle Woods décides to do something, and she just does it. She works hard to get the 179 on her LSATs, reading textbook after textbook and solving mock test after mock test in the loudest and most active environments she could find, foregoing parties and hangout’s with her friends in favour of studying. She works and works, filling notebooks and notebooks with her practice, and she earns that 179. Hard work— effort— is a core tenet of who Elle Woods is, and it shows throughout the two films.
This effort, this ability to work hard for what she wants, stems from her belief in herself. Elle has incredible confidence and self-assurance, and that leads to her belief that she can get whatever she wants. Now, if she does not doubt herself, if she believes that she will get her way, why would she ever hesitate to work for it? That’s right, she would not. She is optimistic about everything, despite hitting a few bumps in her road, and even if she does sometimes doubt other people’s motives and actions, she soon shakes it off and reaches for her dream with even more determination and grit than before, and that is what makes her so successful in everything that she does. She never lets anyone’s opinion of her shape who she is or what she believes, and does everything with the mindset that because she will achieve her goal one way or the other— because there is no possibility of her not getting what she wants— she has no problem working to get it.
No matter how many people try to come between her and her dreams, she never lets anyone’s harsh words or actions affect her confidence and her faith in her own abilities and strengths. Her will to work stems from her faith in herself.
Of course, that is not the only trait of Elle Woods that is admirable. Elle is unfailingly kind to everyone she meets. Time and time again, we see her helping people in any way that she can, we see her intelligence in the way that she handles everything life throws at her, we see her creativity, her liberalism, her compassion. These same qualities attract people to her, and her friends are genuinely the best, always ready to help her just as she helps them. Elle is, I repeat, one of the best written film characters of all time.
I hope this little piece of writing encourages both you and I to go for our ambitions and work for our dreams, to embody Elle’s kindness and determination. I hope we all learn this lesson and utilise it in daily life, and start believing in ourselves just like Elle does.
Thank you for reading!
Krishna is such a Loverboy. Like. You know what I mean without me needing to say it. He's a wife's man. Rukmini Mata will call him "Swami" and he will reply with "Ji, Swamini?" HE'S THAT CUTE. Idk how Mata survived being away bro I would be pinching his cheeks every hour. Such a Loverboy.
It's astonishing when people say Hinduphobia is not real. I guess Hindus in Bangladesh and other places aren't being killed for being Hindu. I guess Hindu temples being vandalized in US, Canada and many other places is just people being silly and not anti-Hindu sentiment. Hell, there are so many attacks against Hindus in India. And yet, leftists will deny that we ever faced systemic oppression for being Hindu because god forbid their chosen victim of the day isn't the clear cut oppressed. Suddenly, the crimes of the British and the Mughals against us is fanfiction to them.
The Kashmiri Pandit exodus never happened. Us getting back one of our most sacred temples which was clearly torn down by Mughal rulers to impose their religion on us is Islamophobia. How come whenever something happens to Muslims it is Islamophobia, but Hinduphobia cannot exist despite us also being victims of similar things? Not even just in India, in the world itself. Hindus are also targeted for their religion, but apparently that isn't Hinduphobia or anti-Hindu sentiment, it's just some wackos being goofy.
The absolute refusal to acknowledge us is insane. Only in India can a major political party file an affidavit arguing against the existence of our god. Only in India can a party leader openly tear down temples (DMK cough cough) and compare Santana Dharma to diseases and call for its eradication. Only Hindu temples are taxed and people can be appointed to manage them who aren't Hindu. Meanwhile Waqf Board can try to claim an entire village because Mughals colonized it once (and let's not forget the colonizer apologia). Yes BJP is pushing anti-Muslim sentiment and radicalism, but these leftists are more focused on trying to prove that Hindus don't have any problems than focus on that. Some of them are just full mask off, saying things like Hinduism is the root of all evil and stuff, like they aren't even trying to hide what they really mean anymore. Oh, and apparently, we are white people now (I don't know if they all are saying that, but I have seen it before and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a popular take in that circle).
They'll say "we are criticizing Hindutva (which they confuse with Hindu extremism and misunderstand the ideology, but I digress) not Hinduism," but ultimately it'll come down to something like the examples I mentioned above, and they will call us "bhakts" or "saffron freaks" or something, which... do I need to say anything lol. Not even mentioning all the anti Hindu popular quotes, like "cow piss drinker," which is too normalized to not be bigotry, and yet they will say that Hinduphobia doesn't exist. Stereotypes about Hindus are also baked into society. People have innate prejudices against us too.
Again, Muslims have also faced such abuses and these are rightfully called Islamophobia, so why are we subjected to this double standard? Why are crimes against us denied when similar things are happening to us? Why isn't it officially recognized like other religion-related bigotry? This is happening to me and the people around me.
This is affecting many people, and yet these academics sit in their offices and say it's all just a tool to deflect from criticism of Hindu supremacy. No one is arguing against that issue, but Hindus have just as many problems, the only thing is that we are being dismissed because we aren't their preferred, clear cut victim. You will never hear these people say anything against Islamic terrorism and all that, even though it happens a lot.
Sorry for the long ask, I started to type a small one and it got away from me. Just wanted to get it out and also thank you for spreading awareness. Means a lot that someone is doing it.
The thing is Hindus themselves don’t take these things seriously until it happens to them personally. Many on desiblr are Hindus but they don’t jump into these issues until someone targets them or questions them. We have been conditioned so thoroughly by our schools and our media to be passive victims in anything that happens to us or our people. Our sense of community is skewed. We hardly have weekly days where we congregate and discuss stuff like other religions. We attack our own protectors and the people who are speaking for us out there.
Ultimately, a community that doesn’t want to be protected will have no protectors. The academia wrote whatever they wanted about us and we lapped it up in our schools. They whitewashed history and omitted many truths when they taught it to us in school. Why were our broken temples missing from school books? They were so happy to tell us about caste, sati, aryans etc but they never told us about the cows slaughtered in temples, the deities garlanded with cow intestines, the women jumping in jauhar kunds, the forceful conversions by stuffing beef in the mouth of a hindu, the centuries long genocide of Kashmiri hindus, the killing of sikh gurus by mughal rulers, the painful death of Chatrapati Sambhaji maharaj. It’s no surprise to see these kids who are ready to deny persecution of their own ancestors after learning a history from marxist historians that paints their own people as monsters, a history that tells nothing of the actual oppressors who turned entire pieces of land Islamic and wiped Hinduism from the very memories of those people. Such is the extent of persecution that Hindus have faced in their own homeland.
I just had to argue with a blog a few days ago denying that Mughals were colonisers. They said “oh but Mughals were culture builders they built beautiful monuments and they-they contributed to art! Food!” *shaking my head*
I had my muslim friend arguing with me that the Gyaanvapi mosque isn’t a temple when all you’ve to do is look at the damned thing and at the massive temple wall peeking from under the domes of the mosque! The same friend denied atrocities committed by Mughals even after I showed him evidence of massacres and forceful conversions of Hindus. It’s not his fault. He was taught to think like that by our academia.
The lefties on tumblr are really the worst of the lot tho. It doesn’t matter what religion they follow they’re all the same hinduphobic, history denying and mughal-simping bigots. I saw an Indian Jewish-Christian blog saying stuff like “if you see anyone call India Bharat, run!” And later found out that the individual supports parties like the Samajwadi Party because they claim to be socialist. Lol
And I’m not defending BjP because Ik even they are using hindu sentiments to get votes and they are just a centre left party that sometimes like to play the part of religion but the opposition is even worse because of their open hinduphobia and the downright calls of eradication of Hinduism that have been made by their party members. From congress members trying to paint the 26/11 Islamic attacks as hindu terrorism to the dmk’s call to eradicate Hinduism they’re literally telling us not to vote for them.
As you said anything extremist hindus do is confused with hindutva and idk if it is genuine ignorance or a very carefully planned attempt to demonise the term.
Now coming to the denial of hinduphobia, it’s literally so fucking dumb because how can you be so blind to what’s going on around the world and the history? WE ARE LITERALLY IDOL WORSHIPPERS IN A WORLD THAT HAS LEARNED TO ABHOR IDOL WORSHIP. We are literally the first people who get targeted by these fanatics for worshiping differently than them! Go and smell the coffee dude. The internet is full of abuses to hindu gods, hindu practices and anything hindu. The Indian hate on the internet right now has a lot to do with plain old hindu hatred. If I start to list the amount of times I’ve seen Pakistani, Turkish and middle eastern muslim accounts hating on hindus and India in every single insta comment section I’ll go mad. Like for fucks sake, stop denying something that’s so prevalent.
This is literally a reality in a hindu majority India!
We have our temples under government control! Our religious processions are pelted with stones because our music is provocative to some people!
And I’m not even talking about the countless Hindus being persecuted in Pakistan and Bangladesh!
This really makes me sick to my stomach.
This Hotstar-Netflix, ad-free generation will never understand the pure thrill of watching cartoons on Hungama, CN, and Nick—timing our kitchen runs to perfection, mastering the art of a 2-minute washroom sprint, and praying we didn't miss a single scene before the ads ended. Those weren't just breaks, they were missions!
welp
Midterm in four days and I literally joined the course this week, so ATB to me ig
Happy Mahaashivaraatri
Went to this Umamaheshwar temple near my apartment today, and oh my God, is he beautiful! No wonder he's called Sundareshwarar also. They're both so so stunningly glorious.. Umamaheshwara stotram says
नमः शिवाभ्यामतिसुन्दराभ्याम् (namaḥ śivābhyām atisundarābhyāṃ) Salutations to Shiva and Shivaa who are very beautiful
Like.. yes, absolutely.
Also, both this and Ardhanarishwara stotram are just so beautiful. Both by Adi Shankaraacharya. Came across the latter when I heard Vinay Varanasi chant and explain the meaning as part of his Shiva-Shakti video.
