some reminders, if you live in an area affected by wildfire smoke:

shower every day. if you can, shower twice a day. smoke particulate will stay on your skin and not only make you feel physically ill but make you feel irritable and awful. soap that shit off.

if you can, plastic-wrap your windows to seal out the bad shit. if you can't, put wet washcloths in the window gaps.

kn95s are your friend anytime you have to go outside, and seriously - *limit your time outside.*

if you have to be outside, pay attention to how you feel. breathing smoke like this can very quickly go from 'mild headache' to 'dry heaving into the gutter'.

if you can afford it, consider getting an air purifier for your home.

coming from your local asthmatic, breathing is very easy to take for granted until you can't. take care of yourself, keep checking the AQI, and consider guerrilla gardening so your neighborhood can breathe better the next time this is an issue :')

Having lived through the fallout of several nasty wildfires, I also recommend buying or building an air purifier. These ones work well for smoke, and also things like pollen and pet dander if you have allergies!

also i think part of the reason why i'm so enamored with kaoru rindo is that he reminds me so much of shun akiyama

#so lazy and unassuming in appearance. charming and charismatic yet a bit weaselly and avoidant #and easily wields more power than people would ever think. (probably) has good intentions #basically the kind of guy i would want dead irl but in fiction i find very compelling and interesting #i think akiyama is a little more sleazy than rindo but then again. rindo's first interaction with you the player is to hit on you #ykzposting #enchante tag

rindo is absolutely the funniest character in cafe enchante. at every moment all the main supernaturally powered cast of anime men are constantly like "let's kill this guy" with varying degrees of seriousness and every time he's standing there smiling with his hands casually in his pockets like "please don't."

#like there are technically reasons why they would want to kill him (faction affiliations etc) but he's out here trying to be a diplomat #and for some reason that makes him a bigger target than the people literally firing guns at the main cast #which is. so funny considering his Midlevel Government Worker energy in general #i know there's going to be more to this character once i actually get deep into his route but. the violent animosity toward him #at this stage it feels so misplaced and i cannot stop laughing about it every single time #delete later #enchante tag #btw if you're wondering why a visual novel called ''cafe enchante'' has supernaturally powered men and gunfights.....well‚

Extremely predictable, tbh, that this post, made my a trans woman about my experiences as a woman, about my relationship with gender, about how I get pressure to perform to a more feminized gender presentation, mostly from other women, is being reblogged as #radblr because I didn't actually mention being trans, since it wasn't relevant. I'm thirty or forty years old and I have very, very little interest in arguing with anyone on tumblr anymore, but if you're out there relating to this post, and also performatively yelling that trans women are men, or talking about how "you people don't really view yourself as women" or whatever, then all I can say is perhaps pause a moment to consider that our experiences are not all that different, and maybe choose empathy rather than whatever reactive hate you have been choosing.

Another public service announcement. This time it’s air quality. Some of you are probably in it already if you’re in eastern Canada, New England or New York, but it’s sliding south, a huge mass of wildfire smoke. Please be careful. When it starts getting bad, especially, like when the sky gets orange or brownish, it’s best to run air purifiers in the house and wear N95 or KN95 masks when you have to go outside.

It harms your lungs and it’s especially bad for children (and pets!) or anyone with health problems. There are all kinds of chemicals in that smoke. It’s not only trees that are burning. The heat already makes it harder to breath. This makes it worse.

Also, throw out the mask every day and shower before you get in bed if you’ve been out or you’ll be breathing the particles all night. Stuff like that. It gets all over you, your skin, your hair, your clothes.
