thinking about how tbh sinister it is of the hive to implicitly paint manousos as dangerous or violent to carol. the response of "we don't think he'd hurt you" to her questions about him being dangerous is, like, technically as truthful as possible. but it also feels like a pretty calculated representation of him to dissuade carol from trusting him which is clearly driven by their ulterior motives. THEY see him as a threat to their "biological imperative". they then have a reason to paint him as threatening, and an extremely technical reasoning behind it that leaves a lot of facts out, even though it's pretty obvious he wouldn't intentionally harm carol. it's just so calculated. they can't quite lie, but they can manipulate.
