GILMORE GIRLS - 6x13 - Friday Night's Alright for Fighting
Did you know? - Gilmore Girls FAQs, trivia and curiosites
Iâve watched this show so many times, I stopped counting years ago when I reached double digits. Is my favorite show of all times and Iâve been told almost nobody knows it as well as I do, so I decided to put together all the knowledge Iâve gained over the years of trivia tidbits, although in that Iâm nowhere near an expert ;) my deal is knowing these characters and their personalities and the lines of the show lol but I figured Iâd give it a try and collect all the trivia and tidbits of knowledge Iâve gained over the years in one post that Iâll continue to edit to add more stuff (there are a couple that I didnât get a chance to add right not that will add later on)
1. Yes, thatâs Kirk in guardians of the galaxy 2 http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0348231/. And yes Sam Smith (depending on the photo) does look like Kirk (Sean Gunn). Sean Gunn also played the movements of Rocket the racoon.
2. And yes that is Jess dad's girlfriend Sasha now as April's mom (yes she was/is in Twin Peaks http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000145/). Amy wanted to work with Sherilyn and rumor has it she was offered the role for Lorelai first but thereâs no article yet to be found stating this directly from the Palladinos mouths.
3. And yes cousin Marilyn and Gran, Lorelai the first, Richardâs mother, are the same actress. (Happy Dayâs Mrs Cunningham http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005385/?ref_=nv_sr_1).
3. Yes the girl in SH high unnamed who asks Lorelai a question and Loganâs LBD friend Juliette are the same actress. Different character. Riki Lindhome played the unnamed student of SH high and Juliette
5. Yes the first episode looks completely different (not just in the diner) because it was filmed in a different location (Ontario, Canada).
6. Yes, thatâs Luke in Seinfeld. (âsponge worthy guyâ) and in Will & Grace, jerk guy obsessed with huge boobs, Grace wanted to impress with the water bra. Lauren was also in Seinfield as one of Jerryâs brief girlfriends. Thatâs also a young Lauren in Caroline in the city.
7. Thatâs Chris in friends (hums when he pees guy). Yes that's both Luke and Chris on Will & Grace (Luke water bra artist narcissistic guy, Chris cabin in the woods hot guy).
8. Yes that is Logan (and with Usher for that matter lol) in that scene at 7th heaven . And yes Logan. Matt Czuchry was in the good wife, and he has his own show now âThe Residentâ on Fox. Currently filming a second season (as in October 1st, 2018)
9. Yes Crazy Carrie was also the Stars Hollow High teacher (by a different name) in the pilot. Same actress that plays crazy Carrie but different name of character
10. No, nobody knows if the show will ever come back (as far as itâs been told everything points to a NO). The Palladinos donât double book, they are happy doing Mrs Maisel and they devote themselves to one show at the time. The last interview they gave on the subject was to Michael Ausiello in the podcast you can hear in the links. 1. A direct link to the article from November 2017 but is important to listen to the podcast http://tvline.com/2017/11/27/amy-sherman-palladino-podcast-interview-gilmore-girls-mrs-maisel/ 2. This is a link directly to the podcast that opens right up and they say "it would have to be the right time , we don't know but we're open. We said no before and ended up doing more that's why we're open now but it would have to be in a different format", Daniel doesn't repeat the would have to because he already said it right before in the same sentence. Basically is nothing we didn't know. However is a very interesting podcast http://hwcdn.libsyn.com/p/b/8/1/b810a8eea76b5eb5/Amy_and_Dan.mp3?c_id=17932724&expiration=1526427435&hwt=95629606ee9caf86bc57bb8d2d70cf6a. Amy and Dan Palladino show creators and writers and producers, these are the people who made this universe, these are the people who the show belongs to, this is THEIR baby and they made a damn good one.
11. No, Lauren Graham did not have cancer and write a book about it. (different person, same name).
12. No, Lauren and Scott didn't hate each other's guts they just weren't BFFs. They have both said this endlessly, they have respect for each other. Scott had a crush on Lauren when he begun the show. But from what has been told and learned about Scott, it seems he doesnât like to get along with the rest of the cast unless is for his personal gain.
13. NO Rory is not a surrogate. They never even discussed the surrogacy Lorelai with Rory neither did Paris with Rory and Gilmore Girls is a light dramedy not a soap opera it doesnât have sudden hidden scenes that come to change the show completely, other shows, soap operas could do that, Gilmore Girls DOES NOT. She is NOT pregnant of the Wookie. She never slept with Paul (the actor even said it wasnât Paulâs) Milo said Jess is not the father and doesnât romantically love Rory anymore. Only Alexis and Matt were told who the father of the baby is. The Palladinos have said clearly that the father of Roryâs baby was never meant to be a mystery. The only person that fits is Logan. The only actors they have told are Alexis and Matt and told them they could do what they wanted with the information but they have chosen not to say anything because is Amyâs story. And the Palladinos have said IT IS THE OBVIOUS CHOICE. So, Logan is the father, is no cliffhanger is open ending. Yes it would be lovely to see more of them but the Palladinos donât have the style of wrapping up things in a big pink bow.
14. Ace is Loganâs term of endearment for Rory, it shows respect and admiration, it comes from what they used to call top reporters in the 50âs movies, he first calls her that in a IM conversation at the Yale daily news in the episode season 5 episode 6 of Norman Mailer, Iâm pregnant!. Not in the poker game, not in the LDB first gathering. Is a term of respect for her abilities investigating the Life and Death Brigade.
15. The love rocket. Rory understood the meaning because it was the same model, came from an episode of the Twilight zone that was Loganâs favorite. It didnât need confirmation from Logan because Rory had already said she understood it and she explained it to Lorelai in the same episode: âWhen Logan and I were first going out, we were in the pool house one night really late, and we were falling asleep on the couch. And this episode of "the twilight zone" came on -- "the long morrow." There's this astronaut who was supposed to go into space for 40 years, but right before he left, he met this beautiful woman. But for those 40 years that he was going to be in space, he was going to be in suspended animation. So when he came back to earth, he was going to be really young, but she would be really old. So he goes into space, and when he does come back, the woman is still young and beautiful because she put herself in suspended animation to wait for him, but he's really, really old because he took himself out of suspended animation so he could be old with her. He spent 40 years alone in space just waiting to see her, and he was willing to come back as an 80-year-old man, giving up almost his entire life just to spend those last few years with her. The point is, that this is Logan's favorite episode of "the twilight zone." And when we watched it together, he said, "that's true love." That's true love! This is the most romantic gift I've ever been given.â.
16. Chris wasnât at Roryâs high school graduation. He was however at her college graduation. The reason they give is he had to work. Probably the actor who was a guest star was doing another project and couldnât be in the episode or they just didnât want to write him in so they could develop more the arc between Lorelai and Luke.
17. June 3rd is the date of Roryâs court date AND the date chosen by Lorelai for hers and Lukeâs wedding in the original show. Is the same date different year, coincidence as Lorelai herself says the date happened to happen. Thereâs a theory that is ASPâs best friend Helen Paiâs birthday. Since it was in an old interview we havenât found the confirmation of it yet becaue thereâs no data (at least on the searches weâve done so far by various people) on Helen Paiâs date of birth.
18. Laneâs story is loosely based on Helen Paiâs, executive producer of the show and Amy Sherman Palladinoâs best friend. HEP ALIEN is an anagram of her name (Paiâs name). Helen Paiâs husband is real life Dave Rygalski which was the character of Dave initially based on until the actor had to leave for a better offer.
19. The real life Dave Rygalski shows up in the troubadourâs âattackâ episode, he was with Daniel Palladino who was singing a beaver ate my thumb Dan is singing and Dave is playing the bass. Daniel Palladino is also the town loner, the one who protests at the church and appears briefly in the pilot episode leaving Lukeâs. In total Dan Palladino shows up three times in the show
20. Keiko Agena and Emily Kuroda are Japanese American thatâs why when they speak korean in very few moments in the show is very difficult to understand for people who do understand korean. Also Mrs Kimâs real name, at least Koreanâs name is Jong Ya. Laneâs is Hyun Kyung, without last names, which come first in Korean Culture so Lane would be Kim Hyun Kyung, Mrs Kim however would not be Kim as last name, thatâs a westerner tradition, in Korea women donât change their last name when they marry and they are referred as Madam, Auntie, or as mother of such (name of youngest child) depending on level of familiarity. Thereâs never a mention of Mrs Kimâs âwesternerâ first name.
21. Thereâs also no idea of what Laneâs father does or where he is during the original show. Amy Sherman Palladino show creator said she never saw the need to create or cast a Mr Kim because it was more to focus in the mother and daughter dinamics. No is not the unnamed Asian waiter at Lukeâs. Mr Kim appears in the revival for a brief moment, never before. Thereâs a fan theory going around that he was never there because he had to constantly be traveling to supply antiques for the store. Lane mentions âmy parentsâ, âmy mother and fatherâ in a handful of ocassions through the show. He WAS NOT the unnamed Asian waiter that is always at the background at Lukeâs. The Palladinos had never made anyone pass for Mr Kim not even as the back of a head until the revival as a way of fan service and as a joke like saying âoh look, so maybe he had been there the entire timeâ.
22. The translation of the korean wedding ceremony is here: https://missallycat.tumblr.com/post/173812878159/i-got-a-sidekick-out-of-you (is a tumblr post) complete with before and after.
23. What does Laneâs grandmother say when she arrives at the house before the wedding? Grandma takes her coat and she sees Lane, she calls out her name Hyun Kyung-a (the a is an added sound they use for familiarity when they call someone's name) and tells her to come down. After Lane comes down she pats her in the cheek and says Lane is "oh so pretty!". Lane replies, "welcome, grandmother, I am very happy you came." The grandmother then says, "it's good to have come / I'm glad I came." She then talks to Mrs Kim (Yong Ja-ya Jong Ya is the name the ya the added familiarity informal sound), asking why is that Budha statue here in the room?. Mrs Kim says I was going to move it, mother (formal). Grandma walks through the house she's saying, "ugh, it's so dirty and stuffy in here - open a door." Then Mrs Kim says something that sounds sort of like, "rest first, please." When the camera cuts to Lane and Rory giving each other 'the look,' Grammy Kim is saying, "hey, why didn't you come out to the airport?" Mrs Kim maybe replies, "you said yesterday... that I shouldn't..." (and the sentence doesn't finish). Grammy Kim then says, "the atmosphere/karma is bad [in here]. It needs to be changed. Let's bow 108 times."
24. The episode of Jess in California âHere comes the sonâ WAS the backdoor pilot episode of what was going to be made into a spin off. But it wasnât deemed interesting enough by the network to justify the expenses of shooting in the actual locations so it didnât happen.
25. Miss Celine and Drella the harpist are the same actress. Alex Borstein. She was going to be Sookie, she was in the unaired pilot but due to conflicts with her other show she couldnât be so she came later as other characters. She was also the voice in Dwightâs answering machine (especially my trivial pursuit!) and the womanâs voice in the museum. Jackson was married to her but they are divorced know.
26. Paris (Liza Weill) initially auditioned for the role of Rory, she didnât get it but they liked her so much they created Paris for her.
27. Luke was initially going to be a woman but they figured the show needed more testosterone so they casted Scott. This has been the first and only major role Scott Patterson has had in his entire âcareerâ as an actor, the one that led him to get a few more minor roles, rumor has it, heâs very difficult to work with and not talented enought to be worth the pain. He milks Gilmore Girls every chance he gets.
28. Sookie was going to be gay but the network put a stop to that, they didnât want any openly gay characters in the show. The Palladinos were new at this so they accepted the networkâs conditions. Is probably why Michel was always put as bicurious or closeted gay man during the original show and was only fully out in the revival as an obvious thing that needed no explanation or backstory because everyone always assumed Michel was gay.
29. Kirk (Sean Gunn) was initially just an appearance, Mick in the pilot episode, then swan guy, then Kirk new manager at Dooseâs new in town who didnât know Miss Patty or anyone and then became the Kirk Gleason we know and love. Sean Gunn was initially an extra but they loved him so much they created Kirk Gleason as permanent character for him.
30. Gypsy and Berta, the maid in AYITL are both played by the extremely talented, Rose Abdoo. She was hilarious in a reading when they hadnât casted anyone yet so she was given the part. Her language is âberta-eseâ lol She speaks mostly Spanish, a couple of words could be Brazilian portuguese (maybe?), is mostly nonsensical Spanish words in the kind of Spanish that wouldnât make a sentence with any meaning or sense and Rose Abdoo said she had changed a few vowels of the words to make it more confusing.G
31. The unkown town elder (towel guy) is played by William Morgan Sheppard. He was never in the show before or after.
32. None of the elders were the same actors or characters of Richardâs two friends in the golf outing with Rory. But one of those friends was the reverend that buries gran, and in the revival is Charlie of the gazette.
33. Roryâs resident advisor Tess the girl who hands her the keys on her first day of Yale (SE04 EP2 âThe Lorelais first day at Yaleâ) is a different actress than Sandee from Sandee says in AYTIL (a year in the life, netflix GG revival) Tess name is Joy Darash http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1384632/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t17 Sandee is Julia Goldani Telles http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5065920/?ref_=tt_cl_t3 (if you ever saw ASPâs show bunheads thatâs Sasha)
34. When they take the roadtrip to Harvard. The picture of the girl Lorelai stares at when sheâs in the hallway is a stranger it has to do with the year not the girl herself. That's the year she would have graduated if she went to an Ivy league college as it was planned. It was sort of a âwhat ifâ moment.
35. Emily Gilmore didnât go to Yale she went to Smith to study History. Women werenât admitted in Yale at the time Richard and Emily went to college but it was usual that girls colleges and guys colleges would have parties together and visited each other when there were couples. First mention of Emily attending Smith was in season 5. How many kropogs to cape cod. Richard jokes how Emily got kicked out of the womenâs softball team for elbowing another girl. In season 7 Iâm a kayak hear me roar, Emily says she went to Smith and majored in History.
36. They talk about Richardâs mother in the first season in past tense but later on Trix appears. It was an error of the first season when things werenât that defined.
37. Alexis Bledel and Milo Ventimiglia did date in real life, apparently it ended really badly. She also dated Jared Padalecki. She didnât date Matt Czuchry at least not that is known but both are extremely private people, however they are good friends and trust each other a lot from every interview they have given and enjoy working together. Sheâs now happily married to her Mad Men costar Vincent Kartheiser and they have a beautiful boy together.
38. Lukeâs diner has the sign of Williamâs hardware store and not Danesâ because as a fandom we assume William was his dadâs first name. Youâll see changes in the diner all through the show. However Lukeâs parents names are never mentioned ever during the show. The pilot episode was filmed in Unionville Ontario in a building that was formerly Williams hardware. For continuity when they moved to the studio lot at Warner Brothers the name was kept. I don't remember them ever explaining the name on the series other than the hardware store belonged to Lukes father
39. Lorelaiâs doll house is NOT the same dollhouse on friends but it is the dollhouse they show on sale at Kimâs antiques, in one episode where Lane is going to talk to her mom about the band and Mrs Kim cracks the joke âbut is past their bedtimeâ.
40. Yes Gil from Hep Alien is Sebastian Bach from Skid Row.
41. Yes the âhug-a-worldâ that was in the garage in season 4 is on their couch in season 1! (Same as the scary clown pillow is in a number of seasons lying around lol)
42. Alexis Bledel is actually a Latina. She was born and raised in the US but grew in a Spanish speaking, latino, household, her father and paternal grandfather are Argentinian, her mother, like herself was born in the US, but Alexisâ mother grew up in Mexico. Alexis didnât learn English until she started school. The episode where Rory speaks Spanish with Esperanza (Season 6 episode 2: âFight faceâ) she anglicized her native Spanish BECAUSE Rory didnât know much Spanish. Thereâs an old interview with Ellen Degeneres on set while filming season 6 or 7 that sheâs asked to translate for Lauren, she doesnât translate everything due to nervousness. (It also happens when you live your adult life in a country that doesnât speak your first language, growing up bilingual, you tend to adopt the accent of the language you use most and tend to confuse some words when you donât use your native language often).
43. People praised the chemistry and physical closeness between Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, but there is actually a very logical reason for this: Alexis was a model and was just starting out acting and had a tougher time making her marks, so as veteran, Lauren often physically moved Alexis to make sure she was in the right place. Lauren told âThe Today Showâ in 2015: "The camerawork on that show is very specific and we really had to hit certain marks, which especially when you start out, is just a foreign concept...I remember a lot of times just kind of grabbing her, just kind of leading her arm. So, in the beginning, people are like, 'You have such great chemistry.' And I'm like, 'I'm mauling her. That's why.'"
(check this entry from time to time because Iâll keep writing fun facts)
take me back to the night we met [insp]
I got a sidekick out of you
or 58 seats 62 koreans Oi! with the weddings already ;)
This is one of my favorite episodes (minus Lorelaiâs tequila fueled toast). I use it whenever I just want a laugh. But I barely understand a few words of Korean, so I became slightly obsessed with finding the translation of the interaction between Mrs. Kim and her mother. There was a wonderful tumblr page here that had it but sadly that no longer exists so I digged a little (a lot) on reddit, then I asked for the help of a couple of lovely fellow fans who understand korean. All opinions of those in the know lead to the conclusion that is very difficult to understand because although they made a major effort, Keiko Agena and Emily Kuroda are japanese-american and had no knowledge of korean so their pronunciation wasnât the greatest.Â
** A little background: Mrs Kimâs korean name is Jong Yae, the last âyaâ or in Laneâs case âaâ is like we would say a term of familiarity, that they add to every name, the opposite of the formal sound âshiâ which is a formal way to adress someone. We donât know her actual last name because she apparently took the westerner tradition of taking her husbandâs last name. Korean women traditionally donât take their spouses last names.**
Dialogue goes like this when grandma arrives at the Kim household.
RORY: That is so weird. LANE: Tell be about it I just discovered today that I am simply the latest link in a chain of Kim women who hide their real lives under floorboards away from their mothers. MRS KIM: [OS] Lane, she's here!
LANE: I want all boys! RORY: Praise Buddha! [Cut to the top of the stairs looking down] RORY: That's your mom's mom? LANE: Yep.
Grandma takes her coat and she sees Lane, she calls out her name
GRANDMA: Hyun Kyung-a (the a is an added sound they use for familiarity when they call someone's name) Come down!.
RORY: I can see the resemblance.
LANE: goes downstairs Grandma pats her in the cheek
GRANDMA: Oh! so pretty!!.
LANE: Hello (a formal hello), grandmother, welcome I am very happy you came.
GRANDMA: (to Lane)It's good to have come / I'm glad I came. (to Mrs Kim) Jong Ya! Why is that Budha statue here in the room?
MRS KIM: I was going to move it, mother.
GRANDMA: Ugh, it's so dirty and stuffy in here - open a door!
MRS KIM: Rest first, please,mother.
GRANDMA: Hey, why didn't you come out to the airport?"
MRS KIM: You said yesterday... that I shouldn't...
GRANDMA:Â The atmosphere/karma is bad! (in here) It needs to be changed. Letâs bow 108 times.
fact: rory gilmore and logan huntzberger have been old married people since they were in their early twenties
Relationships and revival metaphors
warning, this will be LONG and rambling (but fun if you like to analyze)
I was rewatching the revival once again, fourth fully including the musical, Iâve watched certain parts (ahem Logan parts ahem) more times but the revival as a whole including the unusual musical (Iâve come to the conclusion, the musical is hilarious, what I canât understand is how the biggest grumps (Tom and Sophie and Gypsy) and the most honest person with Taylor (Babette) are so starry eyed over this⌠maybe it is to enhance Lorelaiâs mortification but the musical was meant to be bad, hilariously stupid just like many other Taylor ideas,to the power of 10, but my peeve is them all being so on board with it given the way they are). I still come to the same conclusion and theory. The engagement of Logan is an arrangement. Yes of course this is only a theory and as all theories it could be wrong but the way things are put in the revival I see a few things that make me say this with a lot of certainty:
- We donât see any interactions or even know anything about Odette, not even her face, there are no photos no knick knacks of a woman, no nothing not a trace of hers in his apartment. Sure she hasnât moved in yet but really? no presents? no photos? Logan has photos in his apartment, of his adventures and places but no portraits of a girl, no couple photos, no stuff thatâs clearly been bought by a woman in his apartment? How is that a relationship? - Heâs been single all these years he hasnât married anyone he hasnât had one serious relationship with anyone apparetly (or else heâd be married already, because the Huntzberger pressure to increase the family should be heavy) since Rory, for 10 years and when we see them we have to assume their relationship isnât new because of the domesticity the way they behave around each other the comfort they take in their interactions.
I think Logan was waiting for Rory to go back to him. Now, Iâm not saying he waited pining away for her behaving like a monk (lol) because that would be unrealistic in this day and age, but he was waiting for her. While I donât agree with some things in the revival and even though I love the characters and the stories created by ASP, Iâve come to the realization is more my desire, my wishful thinking, what I would have wanted to see, that could have suited the story as well, but it isnât MY story to tell, and if I really think it through from the characters POV and the writers POV it does make sense. Heâs giving into his family, not to maintain his status quo in money, after all we know he can certainly work on his own, but is about him giving into the desires of his family because, why not? If he canât have the relationship he wants with the woman he loves, because she still keeps a (small) length of space between them, still keeps him a little at armâs length in a way, then why not try and keep the family happy even if he could keep postponing the marriage, they could be engaged forever and eventually end it. She could have her own reasons as well.
Letâs put this Rory and Logan thing in time. We donât know how long they had this Vegas thing going on, if it started like that from the begining, if itâs been steady for how long or if itâs been on and off. He is engaged and she knows it perfectly well. However his engagement seems very bizarre because is almost like it was non existant.
We have this idea of Rory and Logan together when we see them in the revival, they look so in tune so perfectly happy with each other and with their routines and their domesticity already in place, they look married, actually, or like a couple who has been living together for quite a while. (yes and them BAM Vegas and such but more on this as we go on)
Someone once asked if there were parallels between Romeo and Juliet and Rory and Logan like ill fated lovers the world separating them⌠I think thatâs a little much, life happens, sh*t happens, we all have to take responsability for our actions and behave like adults and be aware that our actions have consequences. I think these two are not ill fated lovers, no, I think they make or break their own lives due to fears in one side or resignation and why nots, in the other that result in lack of communication because they are afraid to burst their bubble, him of having her in any terms possible, her of having him but no strings attached (the roles have reversed from the original show but pretty much they both want the same, each other).
However I see a few things that could be taken from Shakespeare if we want to draw some parallels⌠Odette to me, the fact they never show her face that we barely hear her voice once, that she doesnât have an actual real presence, reminds me of how Paris was only a prop to force Julietteâs hand. Romeo and Julietteâs Paris, if we think about it, doesnât really have a story or anything much, because he wasnât relevant, is the same with Odette and whoâs to say sheâs not in it for the same reasons, to keep the family at bay and to prevent them from forcing a more permanent setting while staying in this arrangement and keeping the family happy.  Paul would be Rosalynd; someone quickly forgotten as soon as love comes by, someone who doesnât appear to have relevance any longer.
I do have to say though that I also have my suspicions about Paul, why would this guy, any guy regardless of how much of a doormat he may want to be, would accept to be in a relationship with someone he NEVER sees? They donât live together and she forgets about him even while heâs in the same house⌠how does that work? We donât know how their previous two years were but he alludes to the fact that he doesnât see her much. Who would be so much of a saint or so much of a doormat to take that? To be in a relationship with someone they never see and who constantly forgets about himâŚ? Is Paul some sort of shield for Rory? We know they have said that at the moment we see them theyâre going through the motions, and ASP has said is a bad moment for Rory⌠so perhaps the relationship was real in some way but Rory actually kept him as a sort of shield but forgot about him in every other way when he wasnât present right next to her?? Paul could be Romeoâs Rosalynd, someone that was a relationship but faded into non existence the moment true love comes around. And lets face it, if anyone is actually braver in the story is Juliet more than RomeoâŚ
I donât think, however that Rory and Logan themselves fit so much in the Romeo and Juliet metaphor but they have some resemblances in their relationships during the revival. I am convinced that both Odette and Paul are symbols. Paul is a symbol of how much Rory is lost in herself and is trying to keep this guy as an anchor to prevent her from drifting but she doesnât really care about him, sheâs just there and keeps him around because heâs her excuse for not getting involved, her excuse for not fighting for what she actually wants with Logan, heâs her symbol of stability to show that sheâs a mature adult because sheâs with this guy who is stable and kind and serious⌠but forgettable.
Odette is the symbol of status the Huntzbergers want for Logan, the rich heiress marrying the rich heir, to give pedigree, to bring more heirs to the name, to bring potential more successful business deals, to take an international market perhaps, both families want the convenience of a union that would be profitable for them, economically beneficial to them (Iâm having Sabrina flashbacks here hehe). They want this beneficial relationship and engagement. And if that were the case (âengaged to a girl who lives in another country, smartâ, zero photos or things of her in his apartment, her being in there right within earshot distance when heâs talking to Rory) whoâs to say that Odette isnât in it for the same reasons Logan is?Â
Maybe to have a relationship that isnât serious for them but keeps the family at bay (why not marry them already if Logan was ACTUALLY moving on with his life and trying to forget Rory?) while they are together but not so much (the old arrangement you have your things I have mine, we each have our lives but are also together to keep the elders happy) And if they were all in this agreement, whoâs it hurting that Rory and Logan are together? Truth is Odette is a symbol to create the conflict to put a body (but not a face) as the bump in the road that always prevents Rory from fully commiting to Logan, because if you add someone else to the mix, even if the someone else is in the practicalities, nonexistant, then youâre not the one with commitment issues, is just that you are not IN the picture. However THERE IS NO PICTURE. Odette is a metaphor for the invisible thing, a bump, an obstacle that Rory and Logan canât seem to be able to throw aside to really be together, him because heâs leaving the decision to her because he already asked and every time he tries to know more she shuts down, Odette and Paul are each shields of a kind, the difficulty they need to overcome, the problems where they need to shed light in order to get past them. Thereâs a reason why Odette is literally nobody, sheâs a non existent conflict, sheâd dissapear as soon as they spoke clearly to each other.
Only Rory doesnât know that because she cuts Logan off when he wants to explain about Odette, and she doesnât want to tell him about Paul yet she freaks out when she finds out Odette is moving. If she didnât care, if they were only in this vegas, sex buddies relationship why would she care that heâs engaged to someone else? why would she care and freak out about her moving in? why would she ask about not wanting to find another girlâs things when sheâs staying with him? why would she care if she didnât want him fully, in an actual real relationship the same way he wants her? Is perfectly clear Logan has been waiting for her and is still waiting for her to make up her mind.Â
âThe twilight zone: he was willing to wait 40 years and come back as an old man just to spend those last few years with herâ. (I know this wasnât ASPâs season but who knows if she had brought this story to the table for discussion and they decided to use it? They do mention the Twilight zone in earlier seasons so this could have very well been ASPâs idea to bring later on). He might have come to the end of it now that he kept waiting and she said goodbye to him. However I think it will be on Rory this time that this goodbye isnât forever. This baby, their baby was concieved out of love. And while the man in her life is secondary, as much as I love him, heâs secondary to the story, he will be there for her, he has always been there for her, heâs waiting for her to give him a sign to reach out her hand. He will never force her because he knows that doesnât work with her, heâs always asking for her permission and her approval before he does anything concerning her.
When he and the boys arrive to surprise her in fall, heâs waiting in the background then he approaches carefully and presents her with the hat and coat, he could have easily put the hat on her, told her to turn around to help her in the coat, yet he pauses to look at her, to give her a questioning look âis your call, Aceâ, heâs always allowed her to call the shots, is no different with this small gesture, she can say no and theyâll go away but she accepts it because sheâs not ready to say goodbye to him, sheâs not ready to let go of him for good, she doesnât want to but she canât utter the words that would keep him by her side for real, fully and for good. This pregnancy is important to her path because Rory needs to focus on her life, this new relationship, this mother-child relationship that will come is what is going to re focus her life, that is going to be her new anchor to get her to find her path. Sheâs nervous and scared sharing the shocking news but sheâs her motherâs daughter after all, she will go through with it and sheâll find her own path, and secondary to that path will be her relationship with Logan, because the more important will be the mother and child.
The conversation with Christopher is a clear sign of what will come, sheâs asking him, begging him to tell her, why didnât you fight for me, why didnât you stay next to me, why did you let others make the choices for you. She doesnât want to be this person anymore, and thatâs her great fear, that she will become this figure in the back, this cookie cutter mold that just because her mom did it in a way that she must be the same, she wanted her father in her life, she yearned to have him there, no matter how much her grandfather and her mom had been the parental figures in her life she wanted her dad, she doesn't want to be in this preordained path and to just accept that her child will have the life she had, as wonderful as it was, and she will find the fight inside her to do things her way, sheâll find the fight in her to not let anyone run her over this time (Mitchum, Shira, Elias Huntzberger). Brave Rory, determined Rory has always made up her mind and kept it, she needs to find it again. The conversation with Chris about Lorelai, âyes sheâd back you upâ, that it was meant to be, but that doesnât mean it will be the same for her because she knows Logan WOULD fight her on being a part of the life of his child and Logan isnât an inmature 16 year old boy heâs a man with a well positioned status and more important a man who loves her and would want to be a part of the life of his child, and if she lets him, to love her fully and be with her, be a permanent full part of her life. She always yearned for her father and she never filled that gap. Richard was a father figure of many sorts but he came when she was already a teenager, Luke was more like a pal than a father figure and even he didnât help bring Rory up, he was though a stable figure, not an authority figure but a stable friend, a part of her support system. And thatâs what she needs, the full picture and she can get it because is in her hands, sheâs not going to shut Logan out because she knows what it was like for her. Sheâs going to give him the choice, and he will choose her and their child.
Now, Jess. I watched the revival once more and got to his part and I have to admit it, I donât hate Jess, I donât even dislike him, but his extreme fans make me want to reduce the (albeit little) importance of his character in the revival, because he does have a significance there.Â
He is family now, (ASPâs ONLY words on the Jess subject) he came, he listened to her woes, he does know a little about her because whoever knows Rory knows her passion for words, and he comes from that world of words, so he took a chance and gave her an actual good advise. I donât think now, after putting a pin (A GIGANTIC ONE) on the extreme Jess fans who think heâs God come to live and Roryâs saviour (and apparently sheâd be the Virgin Mary because according to them the baby would be his so it would be an immaculate conception all over again)Â I donât think now that it was a command or just a random idea, I do believe he listened to her and he knows, coming from that world that she needs to find her footing into writing what she knows, the idea had to come from someone who wasnât so much involved, and Jessâ job was that, to come and listen for once, and to be a friend who gives advise, nothing more. And letâs face it, if we go to the nitty gritty they donât really talk personal things and she barely touches him, she grabs his jacked while jumping up and down. Is odd for someone who hasnât seen a friend in four years, it gives you the impression that theyâre not really close or that the relationship between them is not one of much trust.
The look through the window is not longing is regret, because he could have been a part of that world WITH her but it was never in the cards, and I think that now after seeing her again heâs also closing this chapter, maybe with a regret of what might have been, but closing this chapter and finally moving forward himself. He said it himself when she asked him about what was going on with him, he said ânothing stableâ that means there IS someone just not someone he thinks worth mentioning or discussing with her, so he is involved with someone, much like Rory with Paul. However since they arenât in that close contact he just gets away with saying as little as possible on the subject, and finally realizes his role was that, to be the last drop that spills the water in the glass, to be the friend who gives good advise then goes his way again (I do NOT include season 7 in good advise he came, yelled and went away thatâs not advise thatâs not even conversation in the subject). Is clear they arenât close because she hasnât asked him to read her pages, he hasnât asked him for advise, she goes to Logan, and she doesnât really discuss what light would she show him (Jess) in her book because it was so brief it doesnât really matter that much.Â
We see the difference in communication and closeness when she randomly bumps into Dean. She hugs Dean. SHE HUGS DEAN!!! She knows all about his wife and his kids and his life, they obviously keep in touch, and when she discusses what she would say of him in her book, jokes aside, she says âyou were the best boyfriend you made me feel safeâ she knows all about Deanâs life and his wife and his kids and his sister yet about Jess she only knows what sheâs been told they havenât seen each other in four years or more and they still donât discuss much details ânothing stable nothing permanentâ that means Jess DOES have someone just nobody of importance, yet because we donât see her the whole issue isnât made this big thing the way it is made with Logan simply because thereâs a name and a specific openly discussed situation.
And we come back to Logan. I think Logan shares some personality traits with other men in the show. Heâs loyal, loving, he loves Rory and doesnât want to force her hand by making her do something she doesnât want, but he also canât really communicate so well because of the way he was brought up, he loves Rory heâd do anything to make her happy including trying to stay away from her if thatâs what she wanted, he has always shown her this world of adventure and he has had his many flaws but he has grown from those, he has learned from them and he always looked for Rory to try and be better for her. For him this woman doesnât want anything from him as others usually do, the status, the money, the hot guy to brag about, so he wants to give her the world but sheâs scared of being trapped inside a family with so much power and money because she doesnât trust herself to not relive her terror⌠her grandmotherâs life, she doesnât want to be the "bored society wifeâ role, and wait a lifetime to have an individual life. Sheâs been raised in a way that committing to someone equals the end of her freedom the end of herself and she needs to learn thatâs not true. Sheâs been raised to be afraid of loving someone deeply and staying forever because other than her mom, she didnât have a stable figure close growing up.Â
She thinks Logan is gong to make the choices for her when he never has. Rory shares a lot of traits with both Christopher and Lorelai, she has the lack of commitment skills of her parents, she has this fears that she wonât be enough like her dad, and Logan is a lot like Lorelai, this force of nature that comes into her life and suddenly an entire world of adventures shows up to this little bookworm and sheâs happy experiencing all, but sheâs always afraid sheâs going to get steamrolled, sheâs going to get overwhelmed by money, thatâs why she pulls away like her mother, like her father. Logan shares traits of Lorelai and Christopher as well but also has the good qualities of Luke and Richard a bit without being exactly a mirror of them, just as Rory isnât a mirror of her grandmother and doesnât want to be, nor is she a mirror of her mother. Lorelai Leigh is her own person even though she loses herself from time to time and I think that this story of the baby would be the key piece of the puzzle what would force her to develop her strenghts and finally stand on her own two feet.Â
Is not about the guy, like ASP says, although the guy is a big part of the picture but is about Rory standing on her own, Rory solving her own issues so she can finally realize sheâs stronger than the trappings and that Logan wouldnât make her weaker, all the contrary heâd make her stronger. Despite the fact that her love life is secondary to the story, this child will bring her back to her path.
If we go back for a moment to the Oz metaphor, for when she says goodbye to the guys like Doroty from the Tin Man, the Lion and the Scarecrow⌠Dorothy needs to find her way back home and sheâll find it with the baby, the baby will be sort of her red shoes, sheâll find her footing because everything changes and is not about the guy although in this case is not like in Lorelaiâs; heâs not an immature afraid teen and neither is she, sheâs not a force of nature, he is, sheâs undecisive, he isnât, sheâs not as confident as she was in the past when she confronted Mitchum when she kept her distance from him, she got crushed because she respected him and he thought her untalented but sheâs finding new footing and she is a writer, she can be a writer and still be a reporter. (Season 1 her interview with headmaster Charleston maybe Iâll travel the world and write books about what I see I just want to make sure I see something). She didnât want to marry him because she thought he would keep her from the world when in reality he wanted to share the world with her. I think once she finds her path âback homeâ weâll see that the full circle has come, only what happens after the start point is going to be different this time. Because Roryâs âhomeâ is not stars hollow, is her own confident, stubborn, feisty self, ready to fight the world and eat it up. Sheâs now forced to find new footing because this new life is going to require her growing up, sheâs leaving the land of childhood but this time sheâs going to the adult world to find that her love is waiting for her, only now it has to be on her to say the word and get him back.
She would tell him because âwhy didnât you fight her why did you just let her, did she push you awayâ sheâs making this new path because sheâs finding her footing and the baby though is something scary (âI want to remember it allâ, sheâs leaving the life of immaturity sheâs leaving Oz)Â is a new adventure and sheâs not going to be frozen in time anymore. To me the fact that the only permanent figure for her was Logan and the fact that Lorelai is now in this new path as well (sheâs actually now fully committed to Luke, not because of the piece of paper but because they finally found permanent footing and open communication) means she canât stay in Oz she canât play childhood life in her childhood bedroom she needs to move forward and for Rory that means physically out of Stars Hollow. In her growing up that this new relationship of mother child would bring, the way things were led in the revival I strongly believe that she would go back to Logan not because of obligation but because sheâd realize that the excuses and the barriers are flimsy and the fact is that she always goes back to him and he always wants to go back to her because they love each other, they belong together. To me the baby would be the final piece of the puzzle to get Dorothy out of Oz and into the real world, with her child, with her own life, with her love.
She plays with my heart and emotion I give her my love and devotion She gives me thoughts and a notion (requested by anonymous)
loved this!! <3
Emily & Richard / Rory & Logan
I love the similarities, despite knowing these two have their own story to write, I canât help to love all the little similarities ASP threw in there.

BREAK THROUGH
Ok so everyone says the same thing that happened to Lorelai and Christopher and Luke with happen to Rory and she will end up with Jess but no the same thing will happen⌠itâs just that Rory will be Luke and Logan with be Lorelai. Even if Rory has to wait for Logan to marry Odette theyâll get divorced and Rory and Logan will have what Luke and Lorelai have
They will write their own story but is true Rory is more like her father and Luke
THIS!! lol <3 love this!
Once in the friendzone always a Martyzoned
I donât like Marty. I donât understand how is âTeam Martyâ a thing, how itâs even in existence.
Letâs start with who is naked guy... Iâm sorry but so many people insist he was treated badly and I have to say BY WHO?? Other than Colin a couple of times (because they only see each other a couple of times) when was he treated badly? By Logan because he didnât remember him? They werenât friends, my guess is they didnât have classes together since Logan was a year or two ahead in school and lets face it, Logan when he first shows up he partied hard, why did he have an obligation to remember a guy he had hired to work at a party? The âIâm seeing a uniformâ thing... I donât know if it was offensive or him just being âhighâ lol actually I could be wrong but when Logan first shows up I didnât like him as much although he did make me laugh, and I really thought he was high lol the way he walked and talked in that first encounter, the squint saying Iâm seeing a uniform of some kind... Or maybe he simply didn't remember because why would you if you only see them in a specific context sporadically, why would you remember someone who wasn't your friend or classmate? I get it can be seen as mocking but I honestly thought it was more for the viewers to mock Logan as âfrat boy probably high or drunk out of his ass in broad daylight, doesnât even remember his own nameâ, than for Logan to mock Marty. Other than that, Marty was always treated with courtesy by Logan (he offered to treat him and that wasnât meant to be offensive, why would Marty agree to go to the friggin chinese restaurant KNOWING how these guys spent money, when he didnât have money to pay for himself!? who was to guess he didnât have money? Why is it so horrible to offer to treat him, is it because it was another guy? because he was interested in Rory? I thought that one was bad on Marty). Colin not so much, but I always thought Marty had a deep inferiority complex. Colin insulted again and Logan gave him a look, again saying although non verbally this time, "don't be an ass". But this time Marty was out of earshot.
Why is it assumed that because a guy is interested in you, and is apparently nice to you, you automatically have to fall head over heels for him??? Why?? Because he happens to be a guy and youâre a girl so you have to take the first dude who happens to be civil because otherwise youâre at risk of what... the big bad wolf? Of actually dating someone youâre... whatâs that word again, oh yes ATTRACTED to?
Donât get me wrong, when we first met Marty (I mean really meet him not naked drunkard passed out in the hallway nor trying to humiliate Rory in her pjâs and bringing her to his creeper friends who say âoh yes nice robe we all took turns trying it onâ, seriously? thatâs how you try to win a girl?) despite the trying to humiliate her, I liked him, I thought HOW COOL!!! Now Rory can have an actual GUY friend, someone who will be like the male version of Lane, a masculine (softer lol) counterpart for Paris. Other than Michel (but in a little aspect as much as I positively LOVE him, he doesnât count, Iâll get to it in a sec) the Gilmore girls donât have any guy friends, straight guy friends who arenât romantically involved with their closest girl friends (I love Michel but not only was he Lorelaiâs friend not Roryâs and older than her, he was also gay so in the not attratcted to them part heâs already not attracted to women), men who while unattached, instead of drooling over them choose to be just friends with them, men who could be into them but really arenât.Â
We saw Rory get rejected by William the laundry guy (now him I thought looked cute too bad nothing but humiliation afterwards came from that, for Rory lol) but we donât see either Rory or Lorelai have actual guy friends who arenât into them. Lorelai and Luke were friends for years but there was always this undercurrent of âmoreâ between them. So when I saw Marty appear and I thought FINALLY a new kind of friendship. And at first things seemed to go very well, they were friends and he was funny and they had movie nights and theyâd study that was fun
lol I mean he would even try to go head to head with Paris (losing of course but one had to give it to the guy for the sense of humor).Â
Two things were perfectly and absolutely clear from day one
1. Rory had ZERO romantic interest in him whatsoever Â
2. Marty never made a move for Rory.Â
Yes we saw that Marty started taking SOME interest in Rory, asking her if she had a boyfriend, and trying to see how that was doing, but seriously dude? seriously? Thatâs how you work it? Youâre just cowardly feeling out the land to see if she might reject you before you even try? We, viewers saw that, but Rory just saw her friend, a guy to talk to.Â
Say whatever you like about the Rory boyfriends or crushes even if you like them or not EACH OF THE GUYS: from Dean to Tristan to Jess to Logan (heck even poor one date Trevor), they all made their intentions perfectly clear once they were into her. Even Logan, he didnât want to make an actual final big move because he didnât want a relationship but he flirted with her, he always was very clear like he was interested in her and after that, they started being together and then they got in a relationship.Â
Marty was sort of a pet, a lapdog (I love dogs, I have a lapdog, is not an attractive quality outside the canine world) and a sort of a doormat, always ready to be at her feet at her side, at her beck and call.
Why must she owe him anything simply because she was his friend and he felt something else? Facts are:
- Dude never ever asked her out on a date
- He never ONCE said he was interested in her (before it was SPELLED out to him that she wasnât during Chiltonâs little Anna visiting
- In fact when he asked her if she was with anyone, he said Iâm just curious, which prompted her to go looking for who? Oh thatâs right, NOT Marty ;)
- He was a sort of a lapdog poor thing.Â
I feel bad saying it but he was always at her beck and call always around her yet never actually trying to get her attention, never even trying to flirt with her or complimenting her, never ONCE even attempting to ask her out. He was a bit of a doormat, always ready to be relied on, stepped on, never saying no, never denying anything, never having anything else to do but be around her... She liked him as a friend, she considered him a good guy, but he was always going to be a friend and nothing more because he put himself in that spot all on his own and then actually got mad because he had it spelled out.
I mean the guy had clearly SPELLED OUT he was considered a friend, and at first I felt sorry for him. I felt really bad for him because he had been sort of a pet, not really considered a guy not even considered a best friend...
But then this âwonderfulâ friend decides to simply bolt, he dissapears after sending Rory back in a taxi during the whole Anna debacle and he doesnât talk to his friend. Same friend he used to visit and talk to daily, he just stops showing up, and so when she suddenly sees him outside decides to try and talk to him, invite him to watch movies, to hang out as they used to, to try and reconect their friendship, and is perfectly clear she was still treating him as a friend, Rory was always a little self centered to notice and honestly, which one of us at 19 in that situation would have noticed the very subtle signals almost non existent that Marty had? And what signals were those? He was at her beck and call, thatâs friendship, rather too âdoormat-yâ because heâd never say no to her, heâd never hang out with other people and her, just always hovered around her, he came running when she called and he asked if she had a boyfriend âjust out of curiosityâ... are those signals?Â
See, Iâm one of those people who think men and women can be friends if they want to, no extras whatsoever just friendship, I have guy friends who are my closest friends who treat me like another guy sometimes or sometimes like a sister depending if theyâre being annoying or protective. Iâm an adult yet I jump up and down while grabbing my best friendâs arm (a guy) while he indulgently rolls his eyes at me (lol) and tells me to calm down. I would hug my guy friends or hang of their arm WHEN is someone I really see as a friend. I donât see how watching movies with a friend or studying with him, even having her feet on his legs for a while (at 19 I really donât see the bad of it) I donât see how that is leading him on. Why? Because sheâs a girl and heâs a guy? Iâd put my legs up on my best friendâs bed (girl this time) or on top of her legs while watching movies, if she was gay or we were both gay then Iâd be leading her on? Or is that only because it was Marty on the recieving end and Rory on the unconscious end? Will it be the same if Marty hadnât been interested and Rory had, would people still assume he SHOULD have gone out with her? he SHOULD have been interested in her?
I always thought Rory treated Marty as a friend, why shouldnât she try and invite him to watch movies (Duck soup) when she didnât know why he had briefly lost touch with her? He only stated he was into her when it was perfectly obvious, after she had already SPELLED IT OUT loud and clear in his face that he was nothing more than a friend to her, when it was clear to a blind man that she was already involved with Logan, thatâs when this great friend decides to make a move on her? Why? because that way he can have the excuse to be butthurt and bolt. Â See thatâs my problem with Marty, I think with friends like that, who needs enemies?.
Marty is this guy who constantly put friendship coins in the little ârelationship with Roryâ machine, and when âloveâ or âsexâ wouldnât come out he got offended, angry and left his friend. If it was only that, Iâd probably still feel only mildly annoyed over Marty and a little sorry for him and that would be that, but on season 7 he had to show up again... why, Marty? why didnât you stay doing musicals?
He shows up and instead of being for example âoh hey yes I knew you, you know life, work, school crazy stuff how have you been havenât seen you since freshman yearâ or such âcrazy how people can lose touch huh?â I mean that would have been a lie but he wouldnât have seemed like this sad little character who didnât get over his one sided crush with Rory EVEN while being in a relationship with someone else! WHY??? He could have been awkward but over her, but no, Instead he pretends he doesnât know her and becomes monosyllabic idiot who grunts and makes Rory uncomfortable. (Iâm not defending Rory in this little part, she should have said something after the initial shock, she should have spoken up and confronted him and told Lucy but Iâm not talking about that right now) I never understood why he came back? to create a conflict between Rory and her new friends? To make a fight between Logan and Rory? I stopped being sorry for Marty right after Anna shows up to break havock at Yale and I started REALLY hating Marty when he came back in season 7. If only he had stayed as a friend, if only he hadnât come back as this pathetic little man with a huge inferiority complex, reverse snobbery and still drooling over some girl who had only ever treated him as FRIENDS! from day one!!!! They didnât even become an item or even kissed, nothing, he was this sad little man still hung up on a first year crush. Oh Marty, you could have been as cool as Lane, but you had to go and ruin everything. For all of the above I just really really REALLY donât like Marty

aka. the moment Rory wants to say something and Loganâs waiting for her to say it and she just doesnât
I donât like Jess for Rory
and neither does Rory actually⌠if you think about it
This has been a long time coming and I always was asked to explain why I dislike Jess, for Rory. I donât hate Jess, as a character I think his backgrounds are interesting and his lashing out understandable because of it. As a teacher I feel for the past they recreate in that character, and his troubles because IRL I know men who have a similar background history. But that doesnât mean I have to like him⌠much less believe even in the slighest heâs âthe best choiceâ for Rory or âthe only one who truly understands herâ. Sorry no, my one and only choice for Rory will always be Logan, why? Because to me if you watch the show and the revival is clear as day who she chooses to be with, and who she turns to. Each and every time regardless on how many times they say goodbye.
I donât like Jess because he first arrived and was totally not just disrespectful but downright insulting to Lorelai, (honestly the pie comments were far too wholesome I would have slapped his rude mouth and tossed him out). He was a guest in her house and he basically called her a whore because she was talking kindly about her friend.Â
Heâs rude to Luke and I get it, heâs angry heâs upset to be sent like a package by a mother who is the only parent he has, who canât control him and doesnât want to deal with him because she doesnât know how to be a parent, but at the same time loved him enough to want to do better for him because she knows she can't succeed, so sends him to the one person she KNOWS AND TRUSTS who might make a difference with him, the one person who always helps her. If she didn't care for her son she would have let him be whatever, let him get in trouble, let him end up in jail or worse who knows, but she loved her son enough to want to do something for him that she knew was beyond her. So she sends him away, and I get it, he arrives like a package without a choice, to this little weird town where he doesnât know anyone or understands if he suddenly landed in a loony bin or in an alien planet (I mean I feel for the guy, he goes out and sees people hanging garlands and little kids doing cartweels and suddenly a mother and daughter wearing THE SAME ONESIE! I mean WTF??! lol I understand his dismay, I do! Lol). I get it and I feel for him, however I donât find it an excuse and carte blanche for him to be rude to everyone and treat the entire world as if they were beneath him nor I give him the pass for being the crappiest boyfriend to Rory, those things donât excuse him. However I simply donât like him FOR Rory because Rory doesnât like him for Rory.Â
Most of Jessâ growth is assumed and not seen, I think is fantastic he lost the MASSIVE chip on his shoulder and started taking responsibility for his life and wrote a book, however we have no clue of what his personal life, because we barely see anything of that when he reappears, and why? Because the writers didnât consider him that relevant to the show, or maybe he wasnât that interested but still point is he wasnât that relevant to the story. He had already been written out and the writers didnât consider relevant to the story to know Jessâ personal life and backgrounds from the time he wasnât around, because he was no longer important as any more than to make an effect then be on his way.
Support system and knowledge
I was watching Friday Night is all right for fighting (as well as enjoying the previous episodes and most of seasons 6 and 7) and as much as I don't like the L&L problems, Iâm not here to discuss them. I love the paper stuff from that episode. When Logan comes in and starts smiling at her explanations on what happened to everyone and how the paper wasnât going to come out and how she was trying to do all kinds of things, and he just nods and smiles at her. First of all I LOVE IT that he wasn't mad at all, he didn't care that she forgot to tell him about how she couldn't make it to their date, he didn't care that she was now too busy to even think about going out or even reschedule. He was all "ok, now let's do this!".
To me this proves his always having Rory's back, he hated the paper stuff but he's smart and knows it so since she needs all the help she can get, he jumps in to help her and boy! is all boss mode for him!! She didnât even think of calling him and thatâs what makes him happier, she doesnât even consider âusingâ him, she knows he hates all that stuff all she wants is to focus on the task at hand, and THAT is what he loves about her, how she doesnât want something from him, not the use of his name to gain time, she wasnât even aware of his writing skills! And thatâs why he loves her, this is a woman who doesnât need anything from him but in the back she does need him so heâs willing to do anything for her because of the love they share. I know he makes fun and says you owe me big for this, but he's there, he's not bored out of his skull waiting to see at what time will she be done so we can go, nor he storms off because heâs not going to be âsomebodyâs wussâ, This is a man who knows his stuff and knows she needs him so he simply jumps to the task at hand. Even while throwing a little fun in the way.
I love how he simply gets involved because she needs it, that's the best he could have done to win her over and I actually think that a lot of the time he was her best support system other than Lorelai, because let's face it, Rory isn't really that strong, every failure every setback if she didn't have someone constantly pushing her to keep on going, she would have just stayed put, she needed someone to be her support system. Her grandfather was in a big way part of her support system but for him it was more "you're a Gilmore, of course you can do it all", so for her it was an added of the pressure of carrying the name and the legacy to excel, Lorelai was all the time her constant support but when Lorelai stepped back to let Rory take the reigns is when usually Rory would just fall on her face.
I think that, as much as I love Rory and I do, she needs this constant help, this constant support, this constant "cheering" for her, that's why she was so lost in the revival, she has drilled in her brain that she has to excel in the first try and she has to do it without anyoneâs help because everyone is convinced she can and will do amazing in everything she tries that when she doesnât she just doesnât know what to do without a constant person who got her back who tells her she can move forward, who will argue with her who will motivate her to do best, who will be a sounding board when she needs one or a hug when she needs one.
