I like how romance is handled in Sonic officially, he can love someone, even more than one person, but won't ever commit to a serious relationship with them. It fits Sonic's character imo.

He's been hinted to love both Amy and Elise (Trial of love being a big one) but wasn't in a serious committed relationship with either.

That's just how Sonic is. He does as he feels.

I can agree with this! Sonic doesn't seem to mind romance (he's just a little shy about it) but he doesn't actively pursue it either. he's perfectly happy where he is in life! a committed relationship isn't something he needs.

I think Sonic and Amy are better off as a platonic relationship. Just like how Sonic and Tails are like brothers to each other. I think he feels more comfortable in a platonic relationship than a committed one.
