one thought that i had while scrolling my goodreads feed
rick riordan (yes, the percy jackson writer) reviewed a book on Jews written by a Jew ("here where we live is our country", by molly crabapple) which is about zionism and the Jewish Bund
Shloyme Mendelson on the creation of Israel: “What a bitter irony that after the utter destruction brought upon the Jewish people by Fascism, the latter’s methods of terror are now triumphant in Jewish life…. It is as if the slaughterer had infected his victims with his germs during the slaughter.”
an extract from riordan's review, which I believe is an extract from the book too
as predictable as it is, in the comments there are angry zionists bringing up unrelated topics, like October 7 and hamas, or arguing that riordan can't speak on that subject "just because you read a book or two on a minority within a minority’s views"
a question came to my mind: did they read the same books written by this man that i have? because i read many books speaking about and against prejudice and discrimination in various forms, with main characters coming from several cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and often considered minorities
yes, rick riordan is a white middle-aged man from the US, but he is also a father who started writing of a boy with ADHD because his son had it, and he is also a teacher who wrote a little of his students into every character, and he is also a writer who worked a lot to always improve his representation (see the Magnus Chase series), so I wouldn't even think about him supporting zionism
recently he announced four new books, each written in collaboration with an author from a different minority (and he already announced all of them)
so I thought that it would be great if he wrote something in collaboration with a Palestinian author, because it would show internationally that he condemns the genocide currently happening, and we could filter out of the fandom people with these distorted views
