Can she go back to the mountain now?
She hadn’t heard of baseball? It was like, the number one sport in Japan! Wait, human invention?
"Are you like Ai-chan or somethin’?" That was the only conclusion Junpei could manage to draw. By the way she was acting, Hina was no human, and the only other thing Junpei could think of her being would be another Anti-Shadow Surpression Weapon. Not that Hina would likely know what any of that was, Junpei realized. "You probably woulda’ said somethin’ up front if you were, though…"
ღ;; Again another deer in headlights response although this time she had shrugged for good measure. Confusion set aside, Hina was pleased that one of her room mates seemed to be a person with a good head on his shoulders. If a bit fast-talking.
"I'm a...youkai, myself." Goddess probably would have either sounded big headed or far too fanciful to believe. As if youkai or spirit wasn't. But, if she were thinking technically, Hina wasn't wrong or lying; she collected no faith from the humans of the village dwelling below the mountain, nor had they built shrines in her honor -- she only bore the title. But for time's sake, she omitted these things for a later date.
"And admittedly the only humans I have ever seen up until now weren't quite as...advanced, as you are? Most of these things are rather new to me, so your patience with my ignorance would be greatly appreciated, Iori-san."
heading off for the night BUT wanted to leave off with two things
1 reply, 1 starter to do -- good to go
RIGHT well i wanted to say that i'm very very very wordy, so my replies or starters tend to more often than not get very lengthy because details. never feel obligated to match my length. really i implore you to not. do not appease my wordiness its okay i lov u

ღ;; Where there was tranquility, there was a certain degree of loneliness upon the mountain she once roamed; in which the degree was at an almost unbearable high, for no mortal or youkai alike should've set foot onto the Mountain of Faith. To drive away civilians from the slopes and plateaus was to drive away any chance at real interaction when humans, bound by their fears and superstition, could never provide. And youkai, as a rule of thumb, were naturally fickle. It couldn't be helped -- she supposed that fortune, in this regard, did not favor her at all too.
And so Hina Kagiyama, goddess of misfortune only in name, sought not someone to speak with, but only those who would listen. Flowers, foliage and bramble, proved up to the task. And such an odd habit would be hard to break, passing time and keeping sane were another of these.
Before the sun would set upon the day, the woman took it upon herself to spruce up at least on of the flower beds around the hotel vicinity; weeding, watering the wilting petals, all the while she spoke of her day and all of the new things she was learning -- better to not pester the innocent with her woes. Though it seemed her content exchange with truly no one in particular had attracted some attention. Mid-sentence, a musing about the nature of electricity and how exactly humans manage to contain it successfully, she pause to glance up at the stranger, remaining in her kneeling stance -- for it would be rude to completely abandon polite conversation with the hibiscus.
"Is there something that you need assistance with, sir?" Although Hina hoped it wasn't to gawk or mock. She had her doubts, he seemed to be a serious fellow, but how could she know for sure? Humans were proving to be an unpredictable lot...
haven't done this yet, so like this for starter!

missfortunxte;
The islands lacked any sort of weapons to speak of, but it seemed to make up for this in other things. The Rocketpunch Market was full of various things that could easily be weaponised if one was smart. And Akira Mado was, indeed, very smart. Various chemicals from simple household cleaning products were dangerous in the right combinations; even a ghoul can’t withstand a corrosive chemical for very long, and especially not here as she had heard every non-human creature was significantly weaker. This worked in her favour; Suzuya would have to be informed of this the next time they met. Akira felt a slight sense of unease that she wasn’t aware of his whereabouts most of the time; he was prone to dangerous acts against other people. She supposed there was really nothing she could do about this with the limited resources and personnel. The woman continued to pile various industrial cleaners into her trolley, until she felt that someone appeared to be watching her. Akira paused and turned around. This person seemed to be nothing more than a teenage girl, but naturally Akira knew better than to let her guard down for a second. Ghouls came in many shapes and sizes, and she was ready to strike at the first sign of trouble.
"May I help you?" Her tone was cold and direct as her gaze, as if she wasn’t interested in helping at all. In fact, she really wasn’t at all. She was being interrupted in the middle of something important.
ღ;; That cart, filled to the brim with containers with ornate and comical graphics of sentient soap scrubbers...this woman made a huge mess somewhere! Unaware that, really, the market was but a simple and crude weapon's complex if one were to get creative.
But ignorance to the machinations of this new and colorful bunch of humans and non-humans alike ruled Hina's presumptions; this woman; a child born from snow and bone, the appearance certainly matching her words, must've been aiming to get some cleaning done. And with nothing for a goddess devoid of her divinity (or inherent lack there of) to do, she almost seemed to jump at the chance to lend a helping hand to the other.
"To need so much product, was there a big spill somewhere? If so then I would like to extend myself in aiding you, if you will have me." Mindful of the woman's demeanor, Hina in contrast was polite -- even if a bit too sunny for a stranger. Besides: strangers were friends you never met yet!
...Most of the time anyway.
And with a girl, too? Alois frowned, though he found it difficult to remain
angry under such circumstances. He’d never admit it, but fear was taking the place of annoyance.
“ Being tidyis hardly the issue at hand here. ”
ღ;; Then that was one potential grievance put to rest! It wasn't like she had much with her anyway save for the clothes on her back.
"I would like for all of us to try and live in some sort of harmony for the duration of our stay, so if there are certain things I could do to help make your stay pleasant -- please do not hesitate to inform me of this."
Perhaps the boy knew her name already, but she nonetheless dipped into a bow and popped back up with her same polite, yet so very jovial, grin splayed across her face. "Hina Kagiyama," She chirped, "Glad to make your aquaintance!"

☆ —— ) “Same to you, Kagiyama-san!” returning the same amount kindness, if not more so, glad that she was so becoming towards him. It set his prior nerves at ease (even if they were not set off much in the first place) and pleasantries filled his mind, and they became evident in his tone, as well.
"U-Unfavorable atmosphere…? Has it been unfavorable to you, Kagiyama-san? I haven’t really been feeling like that…" Unknowing of what she knew, Asuhi was still under a foolish, foolish pretense. There were rumors of something ‘dying’, but it never occurred to him that a something could be a ‘someone’, or that people died here all the time. Perhaps he’d never truly be able to accept it, then. Not if he had more benevolent things to think about—such as the kind person in front of him.
ღ;; Ah, that was right. His senses would not be privy to the signs around them, and as discontenting such information would be, Hina affirmed within herself that giving Asuhi a word of warning would be for the best.
"This island is a guise for something much, much more grim. I cannot put my finger on the source of this but the miasma of misfortune and despair hangs heavy in the air."
Hina had adopted a serious tone, however she looked at the other apologetically upon sparing the next string of words, "Of course, you cannot sense this as well as...someone such as myself. So it is within my limited power to share this with you, Imizu-san. It may not be easy, but good tidings and light spirits are imperative here. And a healthy degree of trepidation."
Wow, that Hina lady talked fancy. She was almost as bad as Mitsuru. Or maybe she was worse. Either way, it was still pretty bad for Junpei’s somewhat limited vocabulary. Somethin’ about him being sick, or his bat being a club?
"Time out, slow down…what’s this about a club? If you’re talkin’ about my baseball bat, I only plan on playin’ ball with it." Wait, did this lady not know what baseball was? "Wait, you sayin’ you’ve never heard of baseball?"
ღ;; Crickets.
Words going in one ear to only fall out the other -- the woman shook her head at the inquiry.
"Is that a human invention? For I am afraid that I am not as well-versed as I could be on the subject, unfortunately." Hell, she first entered the room and just kept flicking the lights on and off for about twenty minutes prior to this. Mortal magic was amazing!
From: Yours Truly To: All
So much ugly tramps here, how disappointing. I want an attractive bait, I deserve the best not some flat-chested cow.
What was this tiny, irritating man doing inside this box?
From: Hina Kagiyama To: Yours Truly?
Why do you speak so crudely, miniature man? Is this a vocalization of your dissatisfaction from being so small and trapped inside a prison? Surely you could simply ask for help and we may assist you!!
Maybe this whole ‘tropical island’ thing wouldn’t be so bad. As far as he knew, his friends weren’t here or in any danger. Either way, he’d have to get settled in until Mitsuru sent a rescue party or something for him. Considering Mitsuru, that could probably take a long time, so he ended up trying to find lots of stuff to do. As it turns out, the storage building had a surprising supply of baseballs and bats, so Junpei naturally grabbed one of each and headed to his room, which unless he’d gotten it wrong was number 133. It had been a while since he’d had to live in a dorm, although last time he didn’t have any roommates. That’s why it was a bit of a shocker to him for about five awkward seconds when he walked into the room holding a baseball bat in a school for murder. Well, he could probably play it off.
"Oh, hey there! You must be onna’ my roommates, huh? Name’s Junpei Iori! Don’t mind the bat. Just figured I’d need somethin’ to do if I got bored. You ever played? Oh, shoot. I should probably ask your name first."
ღ;; A bat...? Well, this person was right in that introductions should always come first, and so she had followed suit before addressing his apparent madness.
"Hina Kagiyama," She nodded, "It is a pleasure to meet one of my 'room-mates'. But forgive me, Iori-san, for you mistaken: there is no bat to be seen here." She approached the other, keenly examining his pallor at close range, "You do not appear to be ill...that is favorable." Not really. Had this island already poisoned his mind?
And what in heaven's name was he doing with a club in tow? She took a fair step back and gestured to the apparatus in hand, tone even in contrast to her worry stricken visage, "I have never seen club so slender. What could you possibly use that for?"

☆ —— ) Perhaps he was never meant to be an eloquent person, when it came to body language. After all, he had a terrible reputation of being clumsy and rather absent-minded, as dreamy as the stars he loved to watch at night. This trait was most evident when he bumped into people, such as now. Even though it wasn’t his fault that the collision was made, he still felt as if the incident was his doing. Had the girl in front of him not apologized first, surely he would have.
"Oh, no! It’s fine, really!" He insists, wanting to bow back but forced himself not to. "I-I wasn’t paying attention either, s-so…" A nervous chuckle escapes, and he brings a hand to rub the back of his head, looking away with a tinted, sheepish face.
"And it’s a-also a pleasure to meet people, I agree! My name is Asuhi Imizu." The boy quickly inputs, lowering his arms so they may rest at his sides, in a more lenient manner. Asuhi could not easily dismiss such kindness and recovery on his part, anyways.
"And you are…?"
ღ;; A shy fellow, but kind no less, she had stumbled upon this day. Mortal in his aura as well. And a total stranger -- an overwhelming and blissful feeling it was to not have another recoil at the very sight of her.
So her smile grew larger, a jovial chuckle bubbling up and out, when the boy gave his introduction. "I am called Hina Kagiyama! Very good to meet you Imizu-san -- "
"I do hope that even amidst this unfavorable atmosphere we may treat each other kindly.~" Putting her best foot forward? More like kicking down doors with positivity and optimism. That always seemed the best way to approach humans, anyway.
Or, rather, that was the only way Hina knew how to.
“ They honestly expect me to share a room with two other people? ”
ღ;; "...I do not believe it can be helped, but if it eases any of your trouble, I would like to assure you that I am a very tidy person."
ღ;; The dead were beyond misfortune...
are intros still a thing we do?

ღ;; Hina could chock these familiar feelings to an odd cocktail of anxiety and heat; anxiety, for she clearly was no longer among the bush and bramble of the great forest she dwelled. The static and rushing melody had been replaced with waves crashing against rocks or the mundane chatter of mortals -- and non-mortals alike. And the heat was justified just as her trepidation was. The clothes on her back were far too unorthodox for a tropical paradise such as this.
But their was that word: paradise. Alluding to a place where nothing could go wrong, all was right in the world for just a tiny or extended lapse in time that would forever be isolated within the caverns of memory. Familiarity and recognition chided her otherwise, because for how ever empty she may have felt -- literally -- nothing could deter logic and experience. Misfortune, bad luck, despair; all of it adding extra weight along side gravity, rust and bone a scent that she couldn't admit was all too horrible but was inherently horrible even so. This island sat upon a heart of darkness. And Hina could not remedy it.
Her stupor had her features contorted into one of melancholy, but it had quickly dissipated and molded itself into a mirthful smile when it had seemed she paid little attention to where she was going. A walk among the hotel rooms: no place for contemplation! One may bump into another like she did.
"Terribly sorry about that," Hina's hands clasped together and she gave a bow to the other. She dipped back up, grin still playing at the corners of her lips. "I seem to have lost track of my expedition around this facility. Although that cannot be too bad, no? It is always such a pleasure to stumble upon new faces!" A joy indeed. Being cooped up on a mountain will do that to you.
