Reminds me so much of Girl Meets World! I love it. I’m officially joining the fandom <3

I realized what I dislike about OutDaughtered on TLC:

They seem to be a relatively happy, albeit overwhelmed family. The dad is actually doing what he’s supposed to be doing as a dad (he used his parental leave as well as all of his accumulated vacation time to help his wife with their new quintuplets which is exactly what a parent should do bc going from one child to five premature newborn infants is incredibly overwhelming and too much for one parent) and he doesn’t expect a gold medal for doing what a parent should do, they don’t call his time with his children “babysitting” bc it’s accepted that he is their parent too and he does what he has to and isn’t rewarded for it. They appear to have a very good balance in their relationship and in their family.

But TLC decides to advertise it (even fucking NAME IT) in this trope of “oh woe is this poor MAN to be SURROUNDED by WOMEN” like there are seven females in their house and the title of the show references how it must be for HIM to be there like…

I hear what you’re saying, but I don’t actually think it’s intended that way. In the opening credits, you can hear both of Adam and Danielle say “WE are officially OutDaughtered” not just the father. I think it’s just supposed to be a cute play on “Outnumbered” but they only have daughters. Not that TV advertising, TLC especially, doesn’t frequently create sexist advertising... I just don’t think “OutDaughtered” is inherently sexist. It’s never a bad thing that they only have girls.

Sometimes I think to myself ... I really miss Girl Meets World.

And I watch an episode and start to cry a little. I miss the characters. I miss the lessons. I miss their stories and watching those kids grow and change and evolve. I wish I could see what happens in the rest of their lives. It was such a beautiful show, however goddamn corny it was. Those kids made me happy. And I miss that happiness. ❤️

What they mean: I'm not ready for Orphan Black to end I've been watching this series for years and it means so much to me, It has strong, smart, and badass women at the front and I found comfort in all of them, they are like my family and I'm not sure how I'm supposed to move on when it ends.

One Tree Hill

I feel like you know the answers to all of these. 

Favorite character: Brooke Davis

Second favorite character: Jamie Scott. Wonderful kid. Literally the BEST. 

Least favorite character: It’s a three way tie between, Nanny Carrie, Crazy Katie, and Xavier. Because they are fucking evil. 

The character I’m most like: Julian Baker. 

Favorite pairing: Naley forever

Least favorite pairing: Lucas with anyone

Favorite moment: I’m about to copy and paste the whole damn quote

Do you know what my mother said to me when I told her I wanted to start a company? She said “your chances are one in a million” and I said “Maybe I’m that one” and she said “you’re not.”. And she was wrong. And whatever she thought she saw in me was wrong… Because I am one in a million and there is a child out there who has something so special inside of them but whose life is miserable because they think that nobody wants them. And I could be a great mother to that child, no matter their age or race or sex. I could help them find what makes them special. And if you can’t see that, then you’re wrong, just like my mother. Why don’t you go ahead and write that down?

Rating out of 10: ∞/10. I literally will never stop loving this show. Always and forever.

Okay but I really just want to watch a PLL spinoff with just the moms

For real. They kill me. "I call shotgun!" "Marin! Come get in the car!"

One Tree Hill:

Can we just talk about how iconic and genius Mark Schwann was in writing the Season 1 Finale of One Tree Hill the way he did?i With he Ravens losing their big basketball game?

Thank about it. 

He basically has a triple fold guarantee that his audience is going to assume the Ravens win. 

1: The usual TV “protagonist makes the winning shot so his team can celebrate victory at the end of the season and everyone comes together” trope . 

2: Protagonist, and team in general have critical things going against them: Lucas’ arm is injured, they’re down by a bunch of points, missing one of their key players (Jake), their normal coach is out for surgery (Whitey). 

3: Dan Scott, the villain, is their STAND IN COACH.  He has been riding them hard as hell, making terrible decisions, and completely tearing apart their spirit and passion. 

But then, these two boys who share this one horrible father and have been estranged all their lives, decide together that THIS is their moment to defy their father, once and for all. Dan tells them to get the ball to Nathan and for him to make the shot, no matter what. But in a moment of pure television poetry, these boys change up the play, Nathan PASSES to Lucas, being unselfish for the first time in probably his entire life, letting LUCAS take the final shot, trusting in him to make it. And in that moment, Lucas and Nathan stop being “two boys who share the same ass of a dad” and instead their TRUE BROTHERHOOD IS CONFIRMED. 

And the audience isn’t stupid. They see the foreshadowing, they know how this story goes, they’ve seen teen dramas a million times before. The team will come back from behind, the protagonist will beat all odds to make the shot, the Ravens will win, the boys will be brothers, and Lucas will FINALLY be an accepted member of the Basketball Team/Popular Crowd TM!!!!!

But then. BUT THEN. 

Lucas misses. 

And he disappoints his team, his friends, his school. He’s so ashamed he decides he’s going to go live with his Uncle in Charleston because he needs to start over outside of Tree Hill. 

AND YOUR JAW IS ON THE FUCKING FLOR, because how could they do that to the cinnamon roll smol bean teen hearthrobs!?!? I mean not just one of them but TWO OF THEM?! What kind of spawn of satan sick twisted CW show is this??????

THE VILLAIN WINS?! DAN SCOTT REIGNS SUPREME?!!? 

Not so fast!

THE NEXT SCENE DAN WALKS IN ON HIS BROTHER SLEEPING WITH HIS WIFE (Oh, the sibling irony!) and HAS A HEART ATTCK INSTEAD. 

Two brothers destroyed and two brothers born.

KARMA LIVES. 

End of Season.

Girl Meets World Cancelled...

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted or written anything on this blog. A lot of things have been going on in my real life, but I felt the need to comment on this particular happening. I’m devastated that this wonderful show has been cancelled. I’m completely heartbroken that I’ll never get to see these young characters grow into young adults. This show means so much to me and I’ve learned so much from these kids even as a 22 year old. This show made such a positive impact on my life and I can’t believe I won’t get to see any new episodes.

I can’t help but think this decision ultimately came down to money. I don’t believe the theory that this show was dumped because it was too controversial. I think that this show wasn’t making Disney enough money, for whatever reason. I hope that Netflix or some other network will pick this show up, but I ultimately feel like there’s not much we can do about that. 

I would give anything to see more Riley, Maya, Farkle, Lucas, Zay, and Smackle. I want to see Cory and Topanga learn more and Auggie and Ava grow more. I wish so badly this show could continue. 

I have related to so much material and each lesson has taught me something important. I want to see the characters face more challenges and grow. I want to see them explore new relationships, new places, new problems. 

I’ll miss this show a lot. But I’m inspired that this show has taught me how to have hope, how to stay positive, how to learn and grow from life’s challenges, but most of all that the world has so much to offer. I hope another show comes around that was as beautiful and meaningful as this one.

Thank you Girl Meets World for your contribution to my life and the lives of so many others. You’ve done a good thing and you should be proud.

Seriously. All of Riley’s best qualities: Being a good listener, caring about everyone too deeply, trying to fix everyone, positive ray of sunlight.
