So I know I'm not the only one who noticed this:

And it has me thinking that maybe "exposing" more of InuYasha's Fire Rat is meant to be a metaphor to show that we're getting closer to "exposing" where InuYasha (and possibly Kagome or Sesshomaru) has been and what happened.

It can't just be a coincidence that we're just now seeing more of InuYasha in this shot of the intro.
