I love that Mary not only shows you how to re-create Sam’s hairstyles, but that she can do them herself. As someone who is forever a white belt with hair (okay, maybe a yellow belt if loose beach waves count as a skill), I find it impressive. I’d be sitting there for two hours with a mirror just trying to do the most basic ones and they still wouldn’t turn out.

Sam and Mr. Miyagi

Sam is 16 in 2018, so she was born in 2002. 

Mr. Miyagi died in 2011.

There’s no way anyone other than Daniel paid for his tombstone, because no one other than Daniel knew he’d had a wife and child (though I also kind of took the “beloved father” as Daniel calling him that, since his son never met him). That’s an incredibly deep, close and lasting relationship. Contrary to what NKK might imply, I think Mr. Miyagi was a fixture in Daniel’s life, and Daniel in his, from the day they met until the day he passed.

So that means Sam, at least, knew him. Anthony too, but he wouldn’t have been old enough to remember. He’d have been, what? Three, maybe four? Sam knew him, not only as part of her life, but she knew him while she was doing karate, and there’s no way Daniel would have been training her without Mr. Miyagi being involved, at least on the periphery. 

So, what do you guys think she called him? Silly question, I know. But it just makes me stupid happy to think of bb!Sam calling Mr. Miyagi “Jiichan” or “Ojii” or something like that. And I think Mr. Miyagi adored her.
