Elena (n.) derived from Ancient Greek means "bright, shining light"

Shedding what clothes have remained on him, Kol crawls back onto the bed, back to her, like a lovesick predator; not unlike the creature of the night that he is, but now rather like one that has been exposed to the warm light of sunrise and is basking in it.

His voice turns rougher as he whispers in her ear, confessing his most tender sin of all.

"Never forget, Elena; my ancient soul might be as dark as the midnight sky, but you…" he chuckles, the sound low in his throat, "Oh, you. You are the only shining star upon it. The only light I'll ever cling to in my darkness."
