Clarion had decided to enter the blind date event for the ball when one of the girls at the bookshop had mentioned it to her. Not at first though. No, she was against the idea in the beginning but after mentioning it another two or three times Clarion gave in and entered her name. Being paired with someone she never met prior to the ball was just as exciting as it was nerve-wracking. Still, she dressed up and added a certain ‘gold sparkle’ to her look. When Clarion received contact information for Dory the woman was quick to reach out. The two had agreed on a meeting spot and Clarion was sure to make it on time. In fact she arrived a bit earlier than intended. She was waiting, with a glass of white wine in hand, and looking around when she spotted a lost looking woman. After a few minutes of watching the other she decided to approach her. “Are you Dory, by chance?” Clarion asked her with a soft smile and tone.
Besides her own room, which served many faithful years as her workshop and the main center of operations for all things tinkering, Pixie Hollow was probably Tink’s favorite place in the world. She had honestly never felt like she belonged anywhere as much as she did in this bookshop, surrounded by both the comfort of its atmosphere and the well of knowledge it contained. This was where she studied and practiced her talent, safe from judgement or persecution; where she spent time with some of the most amazing people she’d ever met, the other girls who were just like her; and where she was mentored by the most magical woman of all. It wasn’t even Clarion’s power that made her so magical, but her wisdom, her heart and her grace—she had all the qualities of a true leader, somebody you couldn’t help but respect and look up to.
As Tessa entered the store, she was happy to return the smile she got and happily chirped a reply to the question, “I am amazing. Better than ever. How are you?”
Clarion smiled at the sight of the young girl when she entered the shop. Tessa always managed to brighten Clarion’s day in one way or another. “Amazing? Please, enlighten me on why that is.” She still had her mug of tea in her hand and took a sip. “Me? I’m just fine, dear. Thank you for asking.” She sets the mug on the nearby front counter where the register was. “Are you in to work today or studies? Or, perhaps, something else entirely?” Clarion questioned softly. She had always let the girls come and go as the pleased, to do as they want or need. As long as they returned and kept up on their studies is all Clarion asked for from them.
Pixie Hollow was such a special place to Clarion. It was her pride and joy. The bookshop space may have been gifted to her, but Clarion put in the rest of the work when it came to making the shop come alive. It was warm and welcoming, and although it was full of secrets she never turned a soul away. Within reason, that is. After tidying up the place and putting some misplaced books back on the shelves she sat herself in the center of the store that served as a lounge area and coffee/tea station. There wasn’t anyone else in the store at the moment so she had brewed herself a mug of tea and took a few minutes to herself. Her break was short lived though when she heard the jingle of the bell on the door, indicating someone had just walked in. Smiling, she got up and walked to the front of the store. “Hello, she greeted. “How are you today?”
Clarion was a bundle of joy from the moment she was born. She was born of laughter and not of tears. Her mother even claims her birth was an easy one, as far as pushing a child out of one goes. She didn’t cry much when she was born, it was more of gentle whines instead of screaming. Her parents believe, and Clarion was well, that it was magic that helped the birthing process go smoothly.
Although she grew up with few friends in the beginning of her life Clarion never felt lonely. She had her dancing fairies in her mythical place of Pixie Hollow. Most children had invisible friends but they mostly disappeared as they grew older. Not so much for Clarion. She knew the difference between real life and the invisible one, but now her go to happy place when she feels down is Pixie Hollow. She sits back with a mug of tea and fondly remembers her childhood ‘friends.’
The moment she was able to conjure magic was a very special one. The dust that seemed to pour from her fingertips was a sparkling gold and it was beautiful. It took some time for her to be able to control it, but with the guidance of her parents and the order she was able to learn. It took a lot of practice and a lot of reading but Clarion was more than happy to put the work in to make everyone around her proud.
She’s a very soft spoken person, almost never raising her voice. She doesn’t use curse words and when she is upset she remains as calm as possible. She’s also a very patient person and believes it truly is a virtue.
Concealing her magic was the most difficult part of her studies. She was able to freely use it at home so during the times she was able to play with children her age she tried her hardest not to let the dust be seen. In winter it was easier, it was cold so she had gloves on.
After her studies were over and she was gifted a space for a shop she was more than ecstatic. She’s always been a humble person but for the first time in her life she knew his was something she deserved.
Creating the bookshop was one of the biggest highlights of her life. She was able to make the space her own and filled it cute décor and plants. Her secret wall of magical books was the best touch, and although it wasn’t viewable to public eye just knowing it was there for the special few that had magical abilities was enough to make her happy.
Meeting Tessa Bell was another special moment in her life. The girl was fiery and had a bit of a loud personality but Clarion took her under her wing right away and taught her how to control her powers and helped her with her studies, even her college related ones that she wasn’t as knowledgeable on.
Along with Tessa came the girl’s friends, all whom were very special and magical in their own ways. Clarion became sort of a mother hen to them all and did her best to help take care of them.
Knowing one day she will have to channel her magic into the rose that keeps the magic alive and safe in Walt Grove saddens her sometimes but she knows it is what she must do.
When she was doing her studies she often drank copious amounts of caffeine to help her stay awake and focus. Not that she wasn’t interested because she was, but long nights studying for school and her magical studies could be a lot sometimes. Now though, she prefers decaf beverages like herbal tea. She still enjoys coffee but doesn’t drink that as often and if she does she usually drinks it decaf. She’s not opposed to a little pick me up every so often though!
That being said, Pixie Hollow does have an area with couches and arm chairs that has a small self serve coffee/tea area for people to make themselves while they read or study. She wants the bookshop to be as warm and welcoming as possible and although it may not be a library she lets people treat it like one where they can sit and study.
If you ask her her favorite tea she doesn’t have a proper response. She has a different one for different occasions. Peppermint for upset stomachs, chamomile before bed, and lavender when she’s stressed. (Which isn’t too often.)
Loves bubble baths! It’s her favorite part of her night after a long day. She soaks with lavender Epsom salts or a scented bath bomb and just relaxes for an hour.
She’s a bit of an old soul. She enjoys older music and classic books. That’s not to say she doesn’t enjoy modern things but she had to grow up a bit faster than other people her age so it seemed fitting.
As much as she loves books she loves movies and shows just as much. After her nightly bubble bath she cuddles up in bed with her dog, Snickerdoodle, and her cat, Sir Meowington (Meowy for first.) Together the either watch a movie or binge a few episodes her her newest favorite show. She has the big three streaming services: HBO, Netflix, and Hulu.
Doesn’t drink a lot of alcohol but does enjoy wine or cold cider.
Her favorite color is yellow because it reminds her of sunshine. Despite her love for sunshine her favorite season isn’t summer, but spring. It’s not too hot but the sun is still shining!

“Born of laughter, clothed in cheer, happiness has brought you here.”
🌹Biography:
Clarion was a ray of light the moment she entered the world. A baby that smiled and laughed more than cry, she was a warmth that blanketed the Quinton family and just about everyone else she came into contact with. She was always quick to learn new things and when she grew excited it looked like sparkling dust fell from her fingertips. The Quinton family was a well-respected magical household in Walt Grove, their beautiful house on the end of a Hundred Acres Street, was a sight on its own. When Clarion started to develop her magic, her parents were ecstatic; they were white witches who were capable of manipulating pure energy at their fingertips. It was a lot to have at first, but Clarion was willing to put in the work to see what she could do. She was passed down the most well-written spell books and learned the most honest and detailed history of the magic that was bestowed onto Walt Grove. She knew about The Order by the time she was ten and that she too would play a part in keeping the rose that protected the magic safe. She knew when she turned fifty years old that she was going to be one of the rare few that transferred her magic to the rose to keep its petals from falling off and until that day came she needed to prepare. Private tutors and homeschooling were immediate and Clarion wished things were different, but she knew it was simply how it needed to be.
She dedicated herself to her magic and her studies for most of her life. The only time she was ever able to make friends was when she saw the other children playing on her street and she had enough free time to join them. She kept her magic hidden and had learned to conceal the dust that sprinkled off her fingers as if it was nothing even though it was everything. At times, it was a little lonely because she never quite felt like she was childish enough to join in their games, but she treasured her peers that were patient with her. Eventually she was able to go out more and get to know the people of Walt Grove, but she had to be careful with who she grew close to. There were a lot of people who abused magic and used it for dark purposes and she vowed to never be that way. Before she knew it, she was older, wiser, and finishing her studies. The biggest question on her mind was always what was next but her life was so planned out that her graduation gift was a bit different than the standard. She was gifted space for her own shop which she was able to choose so that she could use her knowledge to encourage other magic users to stay on the path of good. She chose a bookstore where she could contain a secret wall filled with books upon books of the things she learned, spells, and the magical history of Walt Grove. She called it Pixie Hollow after the secret world she made for herself when she was alone at home, where she pictured fairies dancing around her head and whispering their secrets to one another.
For a long time Pixie Hollow was just a regular bookstore for those to come and go in as they pleased. Clarion had yet to find the person she wanted to bestow her knowledge to, searching for a young magical person but always striking out. But then she met Tessa Bell and her friends. The magic in them radiated and after talking to them individually she offered them all a job. It wasn’t any typical job though; they were able to come and go as they pleased. All she asked for in return is that they used her magical book section and practiced their magic with her. Clarion was able to help each of them really tap into their abilities and was fascinated by the fact that each of them had their own special talent. Clarion was sure she had found the right people, the next generation of magic users who would help normalize it into Walt Grove again. She was especially interested in Tessa’s friend Terence, who seemed to produce the same dust from his fingertips as she did. Each day she grows closer and closer to that deadline for when she will have to guard the rose so every second she gets with these people is important to her. She is sort of their mother hen in a sense and she loves knowing she is helping make a difference and keeping people on the right path.
🌹Opinions on Magic:
Balance is crucial to magic, and Clarion just wants to make sure that the information she has is taught to those who need to know it.
🌹Connections:
Elsa Ardelle: She thinks highly of the woman. A nice cold comfort to her warmer aura. She tries to get tea with her every now and then and exchange book recommendations.
Narissa Queene: A dark witch that Clarion is very aware of. She doesn’t trust the woman and is watching her to make sure she doesn’t cause too much trouble or damage.
Landon Milori: Her first love. The two of them were star-crossed lovers in a way and things ultimately ended because of an accident Landon got into that she constantly blames herself for.
