I mean, as someone who as worked in a zoo, this is fairly true.

Obvious disclaimer that you shouldn't have wild animals as pets.

But like, cheetahs are the only large cats that keepers will do free contact with. Hell, even most small cats don't get free contact. (Because small cats can be VICIOUS. They'll have a baby pallas cat wearing thicker gloves than when handling an owl. Because small cats can just be vicious.)

Like I think the only other cat at our zoo where I've seen free contact with was servals? Because I know they've used servals in shows to demonstrate their natural jumping ability. But I know servals can sometimes have a mean temper as well. Meanwhile they'll do the cheetah run and afterwards put the mic by the cheetahs and it's just like an engine with them purring. It's fascinating to watch when the message in every other large animal is "no free contact because it's dangerous even when they're born in captivity".

Legit if any wild animal could be adapted to a pet it would be cheetahs lmao. Only problem is they can be skittish and very anxious and that's why they're often raised around dogs in zoos to gain confidence.

Gotta get back into the swing of posting my photos again, or posting anything at this point. Sometimes you just let things sit around like this Red-shouldered hawk that been chilling for half a year or more.

A thing that truly only struck me very recently about Sam and his life after Frodo sailing (and the contents of the scrapped but very much finished and refined epilogue) is how early he hears the call of the Sea. We don't know it it's the same call of the Sea the elves feel — we don't have enough information to speculate on that, but that is definitely something of a similar nature, since the text is clear: Sam hears the sound of the waves, there, in Bag End as he closes the door, hundreds of miles from the shore.

The epilogue takes place less than twenty years after Frodo's sailing, considering Elanor is fifteen years old when it takes place. Less than two decades, and about five decades before actually he joins Frodo and yet he hears it. Loud and clear. It took elves thousands of years to and the possibility of eternal corruption to feel the urge to sail to Valinor, and yet it took Sam less than twenty years without Frodo to feel the physical manifestation of his longing for him.

It's something that shouldn't happen by any possible means: he's not and elf and Valinor isn't his homeland, there is no danger for him for staying in the Shire and he overall lives his almost perfect, peaceful life, and definitely isn't something that's supposed to happen so soon after the event that caused it in the first place.. There's no tangible Reason for it to happen and it happen the way it did, and yet it is there. And it's so utterly unique and absolutely devastating. Him hearing its call despite having so much left to do and so much people to care for and love. And yet. And yet.

Because he knows it's not his time, but his heart doesn't and neither does the sea.

Imagine missing someone so badly the literal universe pulls you towards him no matter what.

the first week of production was good!!! got 2 and a half pages done [3 and a half if u count page 00, but that's just text and border elements]. Not quite 3 pages of panels like I wanted, but I am still counting this as a win!!

3 pages of Wolves of Danu now exists!! None existed on Monday! It is becoming!!! yippee, yahoo!!!

Every single person I knew (past tense) who has drowned was "a strong swimmer." Water in the wild does not care how good you are at swimming.

I mean this with all due respect:

You are not going to pass a skillcheck against a rip current once it has you.

Waves will not bow to your physical prowess no matter how impressive.

Shock does not care that you used to be on your school swim team.

If you hit your head, being good at swimming isn't going to turn you face-up while you're unconscious.

You may be unable to return to shore. Rescue may be unable to find you quickly.

waaaay back when I was a cashier in retail we would talk about dumb shit while unloading the truck, and we got to the "what would you do in a zombie apocalypse" me and another worker were like yeah we would just die. End it all, we can't fight or run or shit. I refuse to put that much effort into survival.

And my manager was like no!!!! If that happened, I would drive to find you guys in my truck and we could eat stuff from my wife's garden and I would make sure everyone I know survived!! I would carry you all on my shoulders away from the zombies!!

As if being deeply known, cherished, and chosen by another person could ever be a small thing. Normalize profound platonic love. Some of the most fulfilling, transformative, and enduring relationships we will ever have are friendships. 🫶🏼
