“Oh really, you’re from the past too?” Caroline tried to mask her excitement, but didn’t do a terrific job. She’d met a lot of people here, but most were from the future or some place she’d never heard of. You’d think there’d be more people from the past, but this girl was the first, “Gee, I’m glad I’m not the only one either! Well, like I said, I’d be happy to teach you what I know, though I can’t guarantee much, all these knew gadgets and gizmos are still pretty foreign. Caroline MacDonald, by the way,” she held out a hand, “From the Province of Canada.”
“Belle,” Wait a second. Belle had never come up with a normal last name for herself, “Jones. Belle Jones.” Yes, that sounded fine and convincing and normal.
She shook the woman’s hand politely, though not overly long, lest Caroline realize how clammy the girl’s hands were, “I almost got run over twice on my way here. I’ll take all the help I can get, ma’am!” Belle laughed to lighten the mood, “Tell me, have you figured out the blenders yet?”
“Belle Jones. Well pleasure to meet you Belle! Say, did you know belle means beautiful en francais? Fitting for you, I must say! ” She chuckled warmly and smiled, “Oh yes, these new carriages move awful fast, don’t they?” At the mention of a blender, she raised her eyebrows, “Blender? Can’t say I have, as I’ve never heard of that!”
