Don’t mind me, just vomiting at the sappy crap going down in the good ol’ coffeehouse.
So if we didn’t do it…
Then who did?
Wonder how that HEO stuff is going down in the Slums... Should we start in there?
Ancient Hindu wisdom, my friend. One oolong coming up.
You rock.
Merry Christmas, Pete! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas! Take it easy, greyface, and enjoy the holidays~
Guess who managed to get ‘time off’ enough for today and tomorrow? Technically I’m on-call but hopefully nobody gets murdered or starts a fire. I probably just jinxed myself. Want a cup of tea Pete?
Aaahh... Sure. We're not out of that oolong, are we?
And how bad did you have to suck up to get a couple of days off? Teach me your ways.
Waaake uppppp….
Peeeettteeeee…..
Go 'way.
Phew.
Hey, everyone. Sorry about being quiet for so long, but Patrick and I have been working on some actual genius-level stuff. If you've looked closely, the case in the front counter has been having some adjustments to it. Namely, with there being one new treat showing up each day of this month. At the end of it, we're going to have an entirely new set up in time for New Year's, and anything you want from the case will totally be on it.
That doesn't mean that all your old favorites will be gone, we're just making room for some new stuff. Everyone can breathe easy.
Now, speaking of which, with winter nipping at our heels, it's time to retire the pumpkin spices and move on to the great peppermint windfall. Same rules, different flavor.
Bundle up, everybody, I hear it's supposed to get cold tonight.
Then head over at 8 and ask for my table. Fanciest clothes you’ve got are advised. Sorry for the short notice.
Don't worry about it, I wasn't doing anything tonight anyway. I'll be there. Look for the cool guy in the suit.
Pardon me, hello...I was wondering if you'd like to go somewhere with me later today? I've reserved a table at the Crystal Parlor, if that works for you. [D. G. Fonseca, Extr. Tempest]
Well, uh, sure!
I have to say I wasn’t expecting this, but sure. Sounds like fun.
Anything else to do?
Me? No, can't think of anything.

//v i'm real sorry biut i'm exhausted i gotta finish this tomorrow
//Ari accepts his drink with a genuine grin he can’t remember beginning. It’s frigid in his hands and begins to bead with moisture after he takes a few sips. He briefly puts it down on the island to attempt to help Pete with the muffins, but he seems to have a handle on it. They smell better now than they did before.// It’s your choice, you’re the master of the house here. I’m just a guest. Will anyone else be joining us, by the way? I was wondering. //Worrying might be a more accurate word, but right now, surrounded by only things that made him feel content, he did not care to worry.//
No one I know of. To the best of my knowledge, the entire night is ours and ours alone.
//As far as he's concerned, there's no real point in sitting around at the movie waiting for the food to finish, so he makes the decision to sit back and wait to start it until the muffins have cooled. Ari, Pete notices, looks cute when he smiles. It isn't exactly any kind of specific cute, just that he looks cute. If that makes sense. It does in his head.//
These should be done in a couple more minutes, I think. After that, movie time. But real fast, I'm going to run to the bathroom. Feel free to look around while I'm gone, it shouldn't be too long.
They sound delicious, but I think I’ll buy them from you instead of making them myself, if that’s good. Gets you revenue, and I get to sit around downstairs for a while. //Ari loosens his own tie, unbuttons his shirt enough for easy breathing. He does not remove his shoes, not sure if he should like he does at his own house. He doesn’t add to Pete’s comment about not leaving—it seems too intimate for him to touch, in a way, like it’s been locked in a clear safe. He can look at it, but not understand. Pete is cute when he smiles.// Just water, please. Nothing elaborate.
//Pete nods and fetches a glass. He's held up for a moment by dancing in between the fridge and the faucet, unsure of whether or not Ari would have a preference of one over the other. Eventually he just picks the fridge and pours out some filtered water, cold from its position at the back and hands the cool glass to him. It's the safest route, not everyone was fond of the usual city water.//
Whatever floats your boat, man. I certainly won't be complaining. //The timer goes off and Pete's voice quiets as he removes the tray from the oven, knocking it closed with a bump of his hip.// And... there we go. Sweet. So now all we have to do is wait.
What do you want to do? We can wait for these to cool, or boot up the player and get down to business.
//Ari wondered briefly if at some point he would need to know where the bedrooms were, but dropped the thought quickly. It was not a decent thought to have the first time in a new friend’s house.// Homes don’t need to be big, so don’t feel bad about that. Yours is at least comfortable. //The cozy red of the bricks seemed familiar from somewhere—his hunch was a college he liked, but they had come and gone so long ago in his mind and were now mostly a blur of new, shining white science buildings and too-large numbers. The fact that it smelled like home only added.// May I ask what you’re making? Perhaps I can be helpful somehow.
It's nothing, just some easy muffin-type things. There's a marshmallow puree mixed into the center. They're simple enough, but if I don't catch them on time everything'll collapse. I can get you the recipe, if you want it.
//Pete's busy bustling around the kitchen, pulling off the already undone tie around his neck as he moves from counter to oven and back again. He hangs it over a hook on the refrigerator in a movement practiced enough to be the result of many long days peeling them off. He preferred to dress more casually at Morewest, but on the days where he could get away with looking somewhat fancier, he'd take them.//
I don't think I could leave this place if I tried.... //He pauses for a second to look around and smile at all the bright memories, the bad ones ignored.// Do you want a drink?
//For a moment, Ari was just relieved to here a sound on the other side of the door, because it meant he was at the right place. Then a sort of happiness overtook him, because this was most certainly not work and in fact included him being in the general vicinity of a rather handsome gentleman. He was already smiling when Pete opened the door.// Ooh, this is a club? My mistake, I was looking for the movie theater. //He held up his creation with an exaggerated shrug.// Oh, well. I suppose a club could do just as nicely.
Then you're in luck, my friend. Come on up, I'll show you around while the stuff finishes.
//Part of him wants to get down on Ari's work, which now that he thinks about it gave of the slightest whiff of spices not normally used in a bag of popcorn. However, there are other things he needs to take care of, like being a good host, so that takes a backseat. Up the stairs and inside, Pete starts to show Ari around the brick-and-wood upper half of Morewest.
He will never stop loving that building, not for a second.//
So the bathroom's right down the hall, bedrooms- You probably didn't need to know that- Living room, kitchen.. It's not a big area, but it's home. I've got to finish up some stuff in the oven, if you want to sit down we've got some barstools on the island.
