I like her : )

Her being a complicated woman is intrinsically tied into that. Somehow, I can’t really flag her as outright abusive…? It’s a gut feeling for certain, this sensation that the Carol we see in the game is a woman overloaded with grief and unable to cope with it in any healthy manner. She definitely seems emotionally neglectful though. It would be interesting to see if she has always been this stringent, or if it’s the circumstances that have worsened her. I could not blame Noelle for lowering contact after growing up, but I get this feeling that she genuinely loves her children, enough to go to extreme measures for them, and part of her demanding demeanour is the result of wanting them to be independent and self assured, even if these efforts are misguided.

So, even if Noelle lowers contact with age, just as much I could see Carol being able to regret it, reflect on her actions, readjust course. It’s kind of impressive how much characterisation was squeezed into her single sequence on screen so far, honestly
