He stood before his mirror, continuing to comb out his hair and sectioning as he needed it. Allen clicked his tongue at Mistel’s comment; of all things to be called, a baby was certainly not on his desired list. But for now, he supposed he would let it mostly slide. “I’m going to pretend you didn’t say that,” he said as he pulled his scissors from his thigh holster and began snipping away at the bangs tucked between his fingers. 

He hummed loudly, as though thinking thoroughly about allowing the younger man to wear his glasses. “I’ll tell you what; I’ll let you wear them,” he checked the lengths of his bangs, “if you cut the back of my hair for me…not at the same time, of course.”

“Oh, don’t,” Mistel cooed, all smiles as he came to stand behind Allen’s chair. “I mean it ever so much, it’d be a shame for you to simply dismiss it.♪” 

So the comparison to a baby had been easier to make than to call Allen “cute”. So Mistel had opted for a slightly more insulting turn of phrase than to stoop to complimenting him. So what? Allen ought to appreciate Mistel noticed at all.

His good mood quickly sank into a pout, however, at his boss’s stipulation.

“...I didn’t come in to work, you know,” he said stiffly— but even as he pouted, Mistel moved to remove his coat - tossing it over the back of his own chair several feet away. He began dutifully unbuttoning his cuffs, prepared to roll up his sleeves and get to work, not taking so much as another second to protest (despite his sour expression). He was all bluster, after all— Mistel never refused Allen anything when it came to his professional services.

If anything, he had always simply been flattered to have been asked.

“Here, sit down. Sit.” He patted the back of Allen’s chair with one hand, holding out his paperwork with the other. “You can read my good news while I’m cutting. ♪” There, now Mistel was smiling again, the coy tone back in his voice as he continued. “I wanna see your face when you read it, too, so hold your head up nice and high in the mirror as you read it, okay?. ♪”

Read It & Weep ♥ [Allen/Mistel]

It had been a slow day in the salon, with just Allen manning it that day. With just an appointment in the morning and one scheduled in the evening, the redhead found himself with a bit more time than he would like sandwiched in between. Of course, there was always something to do; it was just a matter of deciding what. 

With hours to spare before his next appointment, and finally deciding on what to do, Allen placed a sign on the front door, indicating what time he would ‘return,’ before locking himself inside the salon. He moved towards the back towards his coloring station, deciding his own hair could use a bit of work. 

He was no stranger to tinting his own hair, Allen very much enjoying enhancing his natural color and making it more vibrant. It was like second nature to him, able to do the application quicker, but with all the precision as he would on one of his clients. 

No sooner did he turn the faucet off of the sink after washing the color from his hair did he hear the back door of the salon open and closed. He plucked a towel from the shelf, soaking up the excess liquid in his hair, before peeking around towards the back door to see who had come in (despite not wearing his glasses.) But had he no sight at all, the visitor’s voice would have surely been to identify who it was. 

“Well, well, well; look at what the cat dragged in,” he said, continuing to gently towel dry his hair. “Never too busy for you, of course ♥,” he tossed the used towel into a laundry basket, before making his way to his own cutting station to comb out his hair. “What’s the news?”

Mistel lit up immediately at the sight of his boss, all the more pleased with this stage he was setting as the pieces and players fell into place. 

“Aha, there you are, Mr. Allen. ♪” He could ignore being compared to a dragged-in prey creature just this once; he was in an especially good mood today, and could stand to shelf some pouting. He’d even avoid teasing Allen about dying his hair, too. That’s how good a mood he was in.

“The news is— aw, Allen, you look like such a baby without your glasses!” Okay, the big production could wait, and he couldn’t quite keep himself from teasing entirely. He’d allow himself to get a little distracted, especially as he followed his boss back to his station with a coo in his tones. 

“Where did you leave them? I want to try them on. Let me try your glasses on while I deliver the news.♪”

“Helloooo, Mr. Allen! ♪”

Mistel didn’t exactly work today, nor had he ever worked so early in the day before— but today was a special occasion, very much worth the effort of coming in to Rose Beauty Salon when he really didn’t have to. The paperwork he had tucked under his arm said it all, and he’d been fantasizing about the day when he’d get a chance to lay it all out on the line like this for as long as he’d known the man he’d called boss. It was a chance to rub something Big in that smug face of Allen’s.

He let himself into the back, glancing around— pleased to find a lack of clients particularly condusive to the grand display he’d been giddy to put on all the way over here. 

“Are you busy, Mr. Allen? I’ve got some wonderful, wonderful news! ♪”

There was something more reassuring about Mistel turning off his phone than any worry he could have had about it being something he oughtn’t to see. Having had so many students in his university classes stay on their phones for his entire lectures made him more happy to know that someone wanted to give their attention. He wasn’t used to it, but Klaus reminded himself quietly that it was also the polite thing to do. And Mistel was certainly polite.

Klaus let the feeling in his diaphragm calm, taking a deep breath and smiling to the coy expression on Mistel’s face with more sincerity than it probably deserved.

“I would enjoy that,” he replied, bowing his head slightly and taking the steps to follow after the shorter man with his own curiosity now starting to brew. Really now, what on earth more could Mistel want to know? And why should be be worried exactly? He blinked, taking that in for a second before turning an unsure glance to the younger man.

“Oh? Perhaps I should have taken notes. I didn’t even have a chance to study,” he replied with a pleased chuckle, shaking his head and shrugging as he settled his hands into his coat pockets. “Well, you may ask whatever you please. I don’t much like secrets, anyways– nor do you ever have much to hide at my age,” he added with a less pleased chuckle before glancing back to Mistel. “What would you like to know?”

Mistel giggled happily at the pleasant response; Klaus seemed to have taken his curiosity in stride quite well, with very little in the way of nervousness. All the more reason to be as blunt as possible now, then. As far as Mistel was concerned, Klaus could stand to be a little more unsettled in the face of a sudden questionnaire. 

“Perhaps you should have! I haven’t even calculated how much this quiz is going to be worth toward your final grade.”

“Alright then,” he began curtly. “I want to start by asking you exactly what you’re on about, paying eight-thousand G for a date through a dating auction.” He turned a shrewd smile up on said date for the evening, mischief written all over his expression despite his attempt to sound scolding. 

“What’s the motivation behind a financial move like that? And how is it you have eight-thousand to just throw around should the mood take you?”

“Hm? Right, Chase–” Chase dragged his attention away from a bottle he’d picked up, looking up to the young man with a brief flicker of surprise before shaking the thought from his head. Not what he expected was the only way to describe that feeling. He smiled, returning the bottle to its shelf and nodding to the younger man.

“Eh, it’s no problem. I didn’t mind the wait– just nails, though, yeah,” he replied, taking in the body language of the blond with a twinge of discomfort he couldn’t quite place. Perhaps it was because the young man reminded him vaguely of someone he used to know, or perhaps it was just that it was very hard to read for him just now. Was he flirting or just being coy? Both?

“Sure, thanks,“ Chase cleared his throat, deciding it was a coy tactic of an employee in a business. His eyebrows tilted together with a short nod as he started back toward the station. No use being awkward about it. “I was just looking over the stock there, since I’m out of my usual hair creme. But my nails need it more just now, heh.”

“I can ring you up for a bottle after the nails, if you’d like,” Mistel replied— ignoring the weird look his client had given him (he was all too used to weird looks by now and had grown too used to disregarding them), following the Mr. Chase back toward the table reserved for manicures, now currently unoccupied.

“Oop— just a second.♪” He took a seat on the stool behind the desk, shifting some of the contents of the surface of the desk around - setting it all into an order he was slightly more comfortable with. Unlike his chair and station in the main room, this station he shared with several other employees— and as such, some re-organization was often needed each time someone new sat down on the employee’s side.

“Here we go,” he began as he set his tools in order, offering a hand out across the empty center-portion of the desk - palm up - to take whichever hand his client decided to offer him first. “Let’s have a look.♪”

“Maybe I use the word too freely, but I couldn’t call it anything but cute myself,” Carl giggled, shrugging a shoulder lightly in his attempt to not move. “I think it’s at least pretty comfy– it’s gotta be, for the shows.♪”

Carl turned his attention upward before letting his eyes shut, giving Mistel free reign of his bangs. He smiled, trying to purse his lips to keep from talking too much with the scissors closely snipping in front of his face. “You should–! There’s a band playing the second Sunday of the month– I think it’s folk, but I’ll have to check the schedule,” Carl added, blinking his eyes open to see his reflection.

“Oh– no, that’s perfect! I like them most just out of my eyes, thank you!♪” he tilted his head slightly to see how they’d fall before glancing to Mistel in the reflection with a giggle. “There’s also the, er– the cabaret on the fourth Sunday, but I don’t know if that’s your speed. Rowdy doesn’t usually fit, but it can be rather silly sometimes.♪”

He let the customer chatter while he focused on the final portions of the cut, wearing a smile that was as pleasant as it was focused on the task at hand. Once he’d moved to putting on final touches - thinning this bit of very thick hair there, evening up the length there - he stopped abruptly to clue in on a very particular word amongst the words he’d been half-tuning out.

“Cabaret,” he repeated thoughtfully, putting his shears down and absent-mindedly tousling his client’s locks once more, half-running through the contents of his station’s drawers for the type of product he’d plan to use to finish the cut and style up with. “Forgive me— when I heard night-club, I think I’d pictured something a little different.” He paused, squinting with some amusement at the young man’s reflection in the mirror. “You mean burlesque? Strip shows?” 

Mistel caught his lower lip between his teeth, trying quietly to repress a wicked grin. “How shrewd of you— I can’t decide whether this is a warning as you say, or if it’s some attempt to stealth advertise your fourth Sunday show.” While he scolded, he opted for a mousse - spraying a bit into one hand and lathering it between both, working it into the man’s curls to accentuate the cut.

“Maybe I will peek in one of these nights.♪ If just to see what all the fuss is about.”

She donned a bit of a sheepish grin at her delayed realization; while observant when it came to her studies, she was a bit oblivious when it came to everything else. 

“Well, that’s exciting! I wish I had known, I’d have brought you like…a business warming present!” She had no idea exactly what a business warming present was, or if such a thing existed, but she supposed she could still manage to figure something out to give him as a bit of a congratulations. She followed him towards the counter, stopping short just a few feet so that she was not carrying on a conversation halfway across the store. 

“But if you need any help moving in, I’d be happy to help,” she offered to him.

“A business warming present,” he repeated curiously. He, too, had no idea exactly what a business warming present might be— but heaven forbid he turn down a present of any sort when offered one. He propped his chin up on a hand and continued lazily: 

“If a house-warming present necessitates a house-warming party, does a business-warming present necessitate a business-warming...” He squinted, thinking of a correlation. “...sale? Auction? ...Luncheon? ♪ What’s the business version of a party?”

Mistel glanced to the front door, already feeling the weight of inertia now that he’d stopped to chat. Just as with a present, Mistel was loathe to turn down help from a friend - but the idea of committing to starting on the moving portion for the shop’s upstairs was far from appealing, even with help. 

“I’ll have to get back to you on that, I think— though that’s not a no,” he said with a smile, glancing back to Agate. “Maybe I’ll text you when I’m ready to tackle it? ♪ Honestly, I could use all the help I can get. I’m the only hands on deck at the moment.”

She picked up one of the CD cases, recognizing it to be one of the first CDs she had gotten as a present. She smiled, a wave of delightful nostalgia coming over her as she glanced over the familiar track titles. But her happy reminiscing was quickly cut short as the sound of a familiar voice calling her name brought her back to reality; Agate turning her head towards the door, her curious expression quickly melting into one of pleasant surprise. 

“Oh! Hello Mistel,” she greeted her friend, quickly setting the CD back into place in favor of approaching the blond. “Oh-” she scratched her cheek, looking around the store once more, “It looks so much nicer in here; it tricked me into thinking you were open!” She said, before turning back to face him again. She fell silent a few moments, her brow furrowing slightly as though she were trying to make sense of a riddle before her.

“Oh wait a second-you mean this is your place?”

“Well, thank you!” he beamed, pleased with the assessment of the shop thus far. Perhaps he’d been too close to it for most of the day; it was nice to get an outside opinion about the updates he’d made. The shop had been on the musty side when he’d first taken to dismantling and cleaning it yesterday; even though he was far from done, it was heartening to make note of how far along things had come.

He crossed around behind the counter, lifting the box off of it and then setting it behind and out of sight. Once this was accomplished, he chuckled at her delayed question.

“Now you noticed? Well— sort of, I’m the new acting manager. ♪ I have a landlord, so I’m not the building’s official owner or anything— but I guess essentially it’s mine? It’s ‘mine’ enough for now, I’d think.” 

He chuckled, crossing his arms and leaning on them toward her. “I’m moving into the flat upstairs eventually, too.. but I’m thinking I’ll save that for another day. After giving my back a rest.”

Agate had heard rumors circulating through the town that the old record store had come under new ownership. Since moving to Leuda, she had only visited the store once or twice, not overly fond of the musty smell and limited selections available. 

But to her surprise, it seemed as though the shop itself transformed as if over night, the rumors quickly becoming fact as the previous Jazzy Records sign found itself a new home in the dump, and a new, colorful sign proudly displaying the name Retro Records took its place. 

But the prospect of a new shop was a bit more intriguing to Agate;, as to her, it meant more than just a new place to shop. Instead, the young woman hoping to save every penny to fund her own dreams in the future saw it as an opportunity to help push that dream further along and closer to reality. She was quite alright with potentially working three jobs; most people with just two found they were already spread too thin to even consider having a normal social life. But to Agate, adding on to her potential workload and filling up her free time was not necessarily a negative thing, especially for someone so high energy as herself. Not having anything to channel the energy into, now that was more or less a negative issue. Another job meant more coworkers, meeting new customers, and of course more money she could put into her savings every two weeks. 

So when the shop had opened, the young woman took it upon herself to visit the establishment; scope it out and see if maybe it would be an opportunity she grasp into her hands. Upon stepping inside, she noticed it certainly smelled a lot nicer than the old place, clean even, and not as if there were a 50% chance of picking up a vinyl and finding mold growing beneath the cover. But on top of that, she had found it not only smelled much nicer, but the shop and its wares wee presented in a much better fashion than before. Not only were there vinyls, but as she passed through she could spot cassettes, CDs, and even the electronic devices needed to play each storage medium. 

“Goodness, it’s so much nicer in here now than what it was before,” she couldn’t help but to vocalize her impression of the shop, stopping to carefully flip through some of the CD cases in stock, “And I actually know some of these artists too!”

Mistel had left the front door open while he’d been carrying things in and out all afternoon; at one point he’d even had the door propped open with a stopper, but he seemed to have accidentally kicked that into non-existence on his— what was it now? Tenth trip? Fifteenth? In and out of the record shop. Yesterday had been dedicated to cleaning, to painting, to buffing the floors, to making the space as bright (and clean) as he could. Today he’d dedicated to actually bringing merchandise in, and already he was missing how much more enjoyable yesterday’s workload had been. 

Mistel was not physically built for this sort of ferrying, that much was for certain. He could really go for a break and get off his feet for a few minutes, not to mention rest his arms and back. Thankfully, this box was on the lighter side - full of a few signs he’d yet to hang on the walls to mark the names and prices of his merchandise.

All this and he hadn’t even touched the upstairs flat, either. No— he’d ignore that thought for now. He didn’t even want to think about getting things up those stairs.

Mistel was surprised to note that there was someone in the shop when he stepped in again with box in hand— and even more surprised to recognize said someone. Mistel grinned immediately in recognition, all happy smiles as carried the box to the counter to be dealt with later.

“Hello, Agate!” he called cheerfully, glancing over his shoulder at her as he passed by. “I hope you’re not here to shop just yet. ♪ I don’t think I’ve even brought the cash register in.”

Klaus remained unaware, the tone of Mistel’s voice sounding sweet enough to assure him that it wasn’t worrisome for the young man to meet him here, at least. It wasn’t inappropriate. It was strictly convenient and not at all placing Mistel in a compromising position.

He quickly brought Cookie out for a short walk, an important step if he wanted to make sure that his apartment wasn’t destroyed upon his return. He kept checking his watch as he went through the apartment, cleaning up the glass he’d left out and the coat he’d left out on the couch. Just enough time to clean and dress into something not meant for work, he could manage - though he found himself very disappointed as he looked in the mirror.

Aging had done nothing kind to his hair or face. He sulked at his expression for a moment, eyes pondering how much nicer he might look had he taken the time to dye his hair dark again– but, there was nothing for it. Really, he oughtn’t be so vain and concerned with it. He sighed and redressed himself in something more casual for a date, pondering again if he came across too old in this outfit before reminding himself of the time and starting out the door. No second thoughts.

It was the tapping he heard first as he finished locking his door, and he started down the steps slowly as if to be sure he wasn’t rushing too much. Couldn’t appear too eager.

“Hello, Mistel–” Klaus started, feeling a brief sort of excitement in the pit of his stomach. Something he hadn’t felt on a date in years– then again, when was the last time he’d gone on a date? He needed to not remind himself so much of his age. “I, ah– I’m very sorry for the wait, I hope you weren’t sitting here too long.”

Mistel glanced up from his phone, blinked, and immediately turned the display off. There was nothing embarrassing about his screen, of course - it was simply time to redirect the entirety of his attention to the conversation at hand. He put on a bright smile, pushing himself up off the stairs and dusting off the back of his jacket.

“Not too long, no. Just a couple minutes, actually. Good timing.” His smile was too coy, too pleased to know something more about the situation that Klaus hadn’t yet been clued into. Like having a secret card while playing poker. That particular borrowed metaphor would typically be considered cheating in an actual game, but Mistel felt no shame whatsoever about his decision; he’d bring it up if he felt like it was important, after all.

“So.. shall we walk?♪” Mistel took a step backward, toward the side-walk — shrugging both shoulders invitingly, curiously. “I’ve got a lot of questions for you, you know, and I’m not going to hold back on any of them.” He grinned up at the taller man matter-of-factly. 

"I suppose this is me counselling you to consider this fair warning, since you’re very shortly not going to have the opportunity to avoid having to answer every blessed, embarrassing question I have to ask you.♪”

He flung it over his shoulders and tested it out, cackling happily before yelling: “you’re the best!♪”

Mistel chuckled as he tucked the bills into his wallet, thoroughly enjoying the fact that it barely closed with so much inside it. 

It hadn’t exactly been his intention to charge quite so much for the cloak, especially considering he’d only paid 30,000G for it himself. Then again, he hadn’t really intended to sell it at all. What had only been a subject mentioned in brief passing conversation had quickly turned into something of a fascination for the redhead - and who was Mistel to pass up what was quickly becoming a business opportunity? He’d be a downright awful salesman if he didn’t take the offer for - what was it? 44,311G?

Surely it was an oddly specific price to offer for the cloak, but it wasn’t as though Fritz had just paid him every G he had, right? No one could be that careless. Not even Fritz. (And Mistel certainly wasn’t going to ask.)

“You’re very welcome— and I assure you, it’s worth every penny.” And likewise, every penny was well worth it to him, as well. It wasn’t every day someone had more than their entire net worth handed over to them in exchange for a convenience one had already gone their entire life without. 

“Make no mischief, now! Or.. do, if you want. It makes no difference to me, really, whichever you prefer. ♪”

Hair That’s A Fright [Raeger/Mistel]

Some hair got into Raeger’s mouth his first few attempts at speaking, he awkwardly reached from under the thin cape wrapped around him to get what he could off his tongue. Withdrawing his arm back into its previous position, Raeger was fit to respond.

“Well, that does make sense,” he chuckled along with the hairdresser, “Allen is your boss, right? I’ve seen his list of services on occasion, but getting into the habit as a regular of yours I’ve never truly considered it.” It wasn’t necessary to provide details of how he himself knew Allen, just considering what could be said if he were willing brought back the taste of his grandfather’s bar soap in his mouth.

“And I couldn’t agree more, regarding pampering. You do it as a service so much, you should definitely see it coming your way in return.”

His gaze drifted to the floor. Truth be told, going out to eat was a rare occasion for him. Not that he felt his cooking was superior to anyone else’s, he just enjoyed home cooking more than having to leave the comfort of his cozy apartment.

“Once in a while, I do. Come to think of it, maybe I ought to do it more.”

“Good,” Mistel concluded. He grinned to Raeger’s reflection in the mirror in front of them. “I hope you won’t start to consider it, either. I’ll be quite happy to monopolize your company if you’ll give me the chance. ♪ ..And, you know. Your business, as well.”

Mistel smiled coyly, focusing back in on the trim he was tidying. “But... I suppose I can extend the compliment that Mr. Allen is very good at what he does. If you must go to him, I must admit that he is worth his cost.” Mistel put on a show of sighing sadly, all smiles underneath the act. “If you’re looking for a hairdresser after I quit the salon here, I don’t suppose I’ll be too jealous if you decide to go to him, instead.”

He continued to work, listening curiously - before adding another question between snips. “Why go out to eat so seldomly?”

“Er–” Klaus opened his eyes with a small start at that insinuation, taking in a moment of embarrassment and feeling the warmth in his cheeks that he hoped was from the hot towel on his face. He inhaled the steamy air and exhaled it with a small huff, letting his eyes drift shut. “Good heavens, you have a way of phrasing things.”

There was no denying that, at least. There was also a bit of guilt for just how accurate the statement was - after all, Klaus did request him very specifically. He chuckled lightly into the towel, eyebrows drawn together at the humor of it. “I can’t say that that isn’t a kind offer, though nagging wasn’t the word I would have thought. Perhaps teasing is more suiting,” he replied, inhaling deeply as the towel is withdrawn and letting his eyes open to follow the younger man’s motions - inhaling again as though preparing himself for the next moment.

Klaus tensed briefly, somewhat embarrassed to be enjoying the hands against his face at first - but as deft fingers slid against the grain of his stubble, he melted with a low exhale. “I… well, I teach– science. At the university, but… I am a perfumist. Mostly,” he replied, his voice somewhat dazed as he let himself enjoy the oil. “Across the way there… the building through the window,” he added with a smile, melting a moment more with a small chuckle.

“I see,” Mistel said lightly, his gaze flicking to the window as his attention was directed to it. He’d seen the shop enough times by now to have committed its store-front to memory; though he couldn't recollect a time he’d actually gone in to the shop. Usually if he were in this part of town he was either on his way to work, or leaving it. Neither situation really left much time for him to browse; the former meant he was usually in a hurry to get to work on time, and the latter meant he was in a hurry to get home.

Still, he couldn't help but wonder at his client, even as he traced circles against his jaw. It was far more likely that the birthday boy in question was a regular client at the salon. Mistel wondered idly who usually served him; and wondered, too, how he’d managed to miss seeing him before today.

“A perfumist and a scientist,” he concluded from the information provided to him, tapping the sides of his face lightly - the sort of affectionate pat one might give someone they were friendly with once they’d been as close as this, the sort of punctuation that seemed to fit when ending physical contact with one’s face. Mistel turned to wash his hands, drying them on a towel before picking his bowl of lather up once more. He let the oil he’d just applied take its time and do its job while he gave the lather an extra fluff-up.

“What kind of science do you teach? Let me guess— chemistry?♪”

Nokia And Kitties || Raeger/Mistel [texts]

Raeger’s phone went off while he was in the midst of searching for an ice pack in his freezer to rest both elbows on. It was unfortunate he had to leave his comfy chair so soon, but the increasing soreness of his elbows made it hard to get fully comfortable.

Needless to say, his response was a tad bit delayed, what with him rummaging through a freezer in dire need of organization and finally plopping down once again, this time resting on his stomach.

[To Mistel:] Oh lol you’re right. I’ll be glad to visit you! Cats may be adorable, but they’re not much of talkers, are they?

He carried his phone with him as he slipped into his shoes, tapping out his reply with one hand as the other tugged on the back of each, up and over his heel. It made for something of a sloppy response, but was there anything really that auto-correct couldn't tidy up for you?

[ To Raeger: ] No not especially :3 Though that doesn’t stop me talking to him!

[ To Raeger: ] And I hope you do! I’ll look forward to it ♥ Just let me know whenever you’re free and in the area? I have work second shift but I’m home in the evenings most days

With that, he slung his bag over his shoulder and set out for work, pocketing his phone for the walk.

preening [ Mistel / Chase ]

There was little reason for Chase to be coming to the Salon, except for his own preening. After weeks of working on a ship, he always felt the need for a little pampering. His hair was frazzled, but his nails were a mess. One thing at a time, though - he needed to get more styling creme for his hair, but his nails were something he would better leave to a professional.

He’d only made the appointment that morning, so he wasn’t surprised for it to be very busy when he came in. They usually said something along the lines of how lucky it was to even manage to get an appointment here– especially for a slacker like him that put it off to the last minute.

He waited his time looking over the bottles of styling gels and cremes, not feeling especially impatient with that in mind. It was a day off, that sort of pamper day when he could treat himself to something that wasn’t alcohol.

Despite being fairly good at building a clientèle, Mistel found himself often picking up the bulk of the walk-ins that came through the salon - especially when his coworkers were especially busy (or especially allergic to taking said walk-ins.) An appointment made only a few hours in advance was practically a walk-in itself with maybe a touch more warning - and after a brief chat with the receptionist on duty when he arrived to start his shift, Mistel was ready to greet the last-minute booker with a smile once he’d spotted him.

“Hello— Chase, right?” he added, begging the man’s attention away from the products available for sale in the front. “Sorry to make you wait, I only just got in. I hope you weren’t waiting long?” He ran his fingers through his hair with a disarming smile. “Nails today, right? I can take you at the station in the back there if you’re ready.♪”
