So, it turns out Baby Bozak loves Papa Matthews much more than he loves his Uncle Auston.
Here’s to hoping the Cup comes to Canada! 🇨🇦
Stanley Cup Playoffs 2017 - Eastern Conference
getting sassy eh, auston?
Who’s paying for this?
@RDSca: Nathan @Mackinnon9 est reconnu pour ses mains, mais que dire de ses talents de danseurs? [Nathan Mackinnon is known for his hands, but what about his dancing talents?]
2017 Playoffs
that first nhl goal feeling
What do the Leafs eat on their cheat day?
Mitch Marner: “Whatever my mom makes, usually. I like a lot of her foods. Her lasagna, her tacos are unbelievable. That’s about it, nothing crazy.”
Auston Matthews: “On the cheat day? I don’t know. I guess it depends. Maybe a cheeseburger. But there’s a good place on King St., Wilbur, that a lot of us go to. It’s kind of like Chipotle.”
William Nylander: “I eat everything anyway. There’s nothing really that I don’t eat. I don’t really have a diet and keep myself away from stuff.”
Connor Brown: “I do enjoy a nice bowl of ice cream. Vanilla or sorbet. That’s not too bad for you, right?”
Nazem Kadri: “I’m a huge sucker for dessert. Chocolate chip cookies or anything with chocolate chips, I’m a sucker for. With like a glass of milk, and right before bed. It’s a terrible time but it feels so right. It just happens.”
Morgan Rielly: “There’s lots. If I had one meal, on the weekends when you’re watching football or March Madness, pizza for sure. Cheese and pepperoni, keep it simple.”
Connor Carrick: “Oh, man. Like cheat day, cheat day? For one thing, I’m a big sweets guy. I get smoked on sweets. Usually you only get one vice but, you know, I’m a cake guy, I can eat it all. I can pound it. But the true blue cheat meal, before I start working out in the summer? I go home and get a Lou Malnati’s deep dish pizza. “My dad owned a pizza place at one point. It was called Old World Pizza in Orland Park. So the joke in my house was that my Dad would come home and we’d get food from the restaurant and he’d say, ‘Oh, here’s a home cooked meal.’ [Laughs] “I’d eat it once a week. Just sausage on it. It’s hard going back in the summer because you’d don’t eat it during the season. You feel awful the next day. And you can’t eat it during the year because it’s not available. It’s that grace period before you start working out. You don’t really have to answer for it. I took six days off last year. I had a good six days though, I’ll tell you that.”
Leo Komarov: “Everything like normal people eat. I can’t say I’m the healthiest guy but I’m trying to be healthy. A lot of pizza and burgers. And beer too. It’s not like I’m drinking wine. The problem is the amount you have. […] If you drink every day, 24 beers, it’s not good for you. If you have one or two, or a glass of wine, I think it’s the opposite: I think it’s good for you.”
Brian Boyle: “Oh, I love pizza. Oh, God. Just cheese pizza.”

It all begins Wednesday night.
picture this: mitch marner and matt martin on different teams, at some point. somebody hits mitch, and martin drops the gloves on his own teammate.

I hate how the NHL treats europeans like it’s appalling to me. They treat Finnish and Russian players like villains (Laine and Ovechkin), they forget that Czech Players exist (except Jagr but even with him no one talks about his nationality), players from countries not usually in the NHL aren’t appreciated enough (Frederik Andersen, Danish), Zdeno Chara, Slovenia, is seen as mean and made fun of for his European features, and there is so much pressure put on Swedish players. There were barely any European representation in the all star game, and let’s not forget that they decided to choose 4 North American Blackhawks players over many many European contenders for the 100 list. The NHL is xenophobic. it’s there, and sometimes it’s not just the NHL but the fans as well.
so apparently my phone also likes to screw over European players because it literally autocorrects Slovakian to Slovenian. Chara is in fact Slovakian, but it decided to completely change it and I did not notice and I apologize for that stupid mistake.
now i’m being called racist for this post. good. great but that is not what i was doing. xenophobia does actually exist in the nhl. also, did i ever say in this post that people of color in the nhl arent discriminate against?? because they most certainly are. I’m calling out the NHL for the way they and a lot of the fans treat players from European countries. There are sooooo many issues with the NHL and this post was calling out one of the many issues.
Also, they- and this is from a slightly biased standpoint since it’s my team- completely gloss over on Anže Kopitar; the only Slovenian and I believe the first Slovenian to make the NHL.
He had a rough season this year, likely due to the stress of now bearing the C for the LA Kings, but has been beyond great and one of the best all around players on the team and even supposedly of the game for the past few years. Wayne Gretzky himself said he’s one of the best 3 players in the NHL behind Crosby and Toews.
And yet, the NHL completely ignores him. We see him at the ASG sometimes, but he definitely isn’t featured nearly as much as the Canadian and American players. It’s pretty fucked up that the League would prefer to talk about Toews last season when he was doing pretty bad compared to Kopitar who actually had a pretty good season. And a lot of us know why.
And the NHL treats the players of color like shit.
Let’s start out about Josh Ho-Sang. The boy’s Jewish, Chilean, black, and Chinese. Basically the reverse of what a traditional NHL player is supposedly like. And it’s amazing. He however gets a lot of backlash supposedly because he wears 66 which is Mario Lemieux’s old number. This is supposedly why, however, we all know it’s not because of that. It’s because of- you guessed it- racism. I doubt that if a white kid were wearing it that there would have been that much uproar or any uproar at all. People might have said that he was “respecting and honoring one of the best players ever and/or a childhood idol” if he was a white kid wearing 66. But since he’s not, there was that mess. There’s a ton more, but I’m not sure how to go into it.
PK “Literal Angel” Subban. This boy is black and proud of it. He’s a big philanthropist and one of the best defensemen on ice right now. He’s also a gigantic sweetheart who- even though he got traded- still loves the city he used to play for and donates still to the Children’s Hospital and visits when he can. The man actually donated 10 million dollars to and has a special parking spot just for him at the Montreal’s Children’s Hospital because he visited so frequently and made big donations. Actually the biggest donation ever given by a Canadian Athlete, I believe. He was pat of the heart and soul of Montreal and was a favorite player on the Habs.
Then came the trade. Management tried to say he had “attitude issues” and that’s why they traded him. Attitude issues. From literally the sweetest man on earth. Everyone knew that that was bullshit. They traded him because of racism. The former head coach of the Canadiens- Michel Therrien- was known to be especially hard on PK as well as Max Pacioretty who is also Mexican American on his mom’s side. Everyone figured out quickly and some are still keeping distance from the Habs even after Therrien’s firing on Valentine’s Day of 2017.
There’s a ton more about black, Hispanic, and Native players, however, I don’t have the time. If someone could take over for me, it’d be much appreciated. Thanks. I hope this contributed well to your convo.
