the information that heecheon would — once again — be forced to work together with someone was only replied to with a dry and resigned sigh. he thinks back on the last time he had been sent on a mission with someone and remembers the very capable man almost dying and heecheon assisting it. accidentally, of course.
apparently, they hadn’t learnt.
or maybe they had, considering that at least he wouldn’t be leaving the head quarters this time. which didn’t mean that he couldn’t still somehow end up leading to something going wrong and the room being set on fire. again, completely accidentally.
thankfully, albeit not all that unsurprisingly, the other hacker seemed to be lacking social competence and skills — similar to him — and their introduction was reduced to brief mumbles and heads inclined in greeting. just from a glance alone heecheon would have guessed they were around the same age; only that said glance wasn’t needed since he spent a goof couple minutes reading everything he could find about the other hacker. only slightly older than him and, surprisingly enough, only a bit taller.
it would certainly make things easier if he felt like he was sharing the room with a kid, rather than have a grown ass man tower over him even while sitting.
no words were exchanged between them, as heecheon got set up. more silence followed as the sound of the typing of key broads overtook the room; a rather comfortable atmosphere, if someone where to ask him. the other hacker, axis, also didn’t seem to mind all too much.
heecheon considered offering a potential friendship, should the whole session go well.
a familiar name appeared on the screen between them and heecheon briefly shifted his eyes to the bold letters, even more briefly towards axis, before a curt nod of his head was signalling the other hacker all he needed to know.
promising. very promising.
then again, heecheon had yet to say a word, really, and that was where things mostly went wrong. another pause, another period of silence passed, before heecheon shifted, a deep inhale foretelling that something was about to happen, before he finally opened his mouth. start with a simple interaction.
❝ ― i looked you up, before. ❞ or not. just start like that. throw an insult at his head while you’re at it, as well.
jihoon doesn’t hesitate in playing the first episode, almost snorting to himself out of instinct at the irony that the two main protagonist siblings are neets. he would have been content in going back to the mission on his other monitor if not for the fact that the other man initiates a verbal exchange, grimacing a bit.
it doesn’t help that the first sentence sky says is... that.
he gives the other a Look, as expressionless as it always is but with disbelief twinkling vaguely in his eyes. of course, it should be expected from one hacker to another to look up information about the people they’re about to face. jihoon wouldn't lie and say that he hadn’t looked him up too. but still, it’s surprising for someone like him. he didn’t think he was someone worth looking up to begin with-- after all, he’s less than a person in his own eyes.
he opens up another window on his monitor, a writing software, to type out his response, deft fingers rapidly typing out his inquiries and enlarging them enough for the other to see. he turns his head, pushing his round glasses further up to keep them from slipping off the bridge of his nose, waiting for sky to read what he has to say.
was there anything worth knowing?
he scans momentarily through his own memories to see what he can recall about the other hacker, eyes briefly drifting off to stare at the wall. and then he types again without even blinking, turning to look at him again.
