The Neighbourhood - #icanteven
Song title explains everything.
JP Cooper - Keep the Quiet Out
Hands down the best, most beautiful artist that has ever been pitched to me from a music publicist. I will support him until the end.
Aquilo - Human
My year end review from Spotify said I listened to a shit ton of Aquilo this year. No reason to stop now, new EP out today.
Ed Sheeran - Make It Rain (Foy Vance orig.)
Funny story - I published the Sons of Anarchy book, a store released copies too early, spoilers for the series finale were leaked, etc etc maybe you've heard about it. I don't watch SoA and it's been a nightmare at the office, but this song from the last episode did not escape me.
Ed fans and non Ed fans alike went crazy, but here's the bad news - it's a cover, if you weren't aware. Foy Vance, good friend to Ed that he is, allowed him to make this epically haunting cover. I met Ed at Foy's New York show and I'm all about the fusion of their artistic powers.
Kygo (feat. Conrad) - Firestone
New single, new hit from Norwegian music producer Kygo. Fitting, as I was just in Oslo last week and saw his name plastered everywhere. Hometown (-ish) pride. His elevator remix touch has impressed me all year.
Lonely the Brave - Call of Horses
London night #2 - Dr. Martens event promoting #StandforSomething campaign, and I witnessed my favorite rock band play to a room of only 100 people at The Black Heart in Camden. Epic night! They opened with one of my faves, "Call of Horses" and I didn't crumble to the floor.
Mallory Knox - When Are We Waking Up?
London night #1: traveling for Thanksgiving coincided with Mallory Knox playing at London's Electric Ballroom in Camden, and it ticked off a huge box on my British music to-do list. Incredible energy they will bring stateside for SXSW!
Hozier - From Eden
To witness Hozier in person, at the modestly sized Irving Plaza, was completely unreal. Class act, raw talent.
James Bay - Hold Back the River
Small show at CMJ 2013 to opening for Hozier and being nominated for BBC Sound of 2015. Love this guy.
Mallory Knox - Reading and Leeds Festival 2014 set
I think by the time these guys make their way to the U.S. (SXSW maybe?) I will have been waiting for over 2yrs to see them. This is all I have! And it's brilliant.
AYER - Fight the Fire (prod. by Arnold and Bel Heir)
Ben Howard - End of the Affair
New music at long last!
Catfish and the Bottlemen - Cocoon
Sixth single, sixth mega hit. I'm not one for music videos these days but this is a brilliant tribute to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
BANKS - Beggin for Thread
Years and Years - Breathe (Blu Cantrell cover)
LANY - ILYSB
I've been living on LANY for a few weeks. Incredibly smooth, slow jams with an 80s feel. Their entire soundcloud is absolute required listening.
Viceroy - The Life feat. Penguin Prison
Another favorite track of the week, a collaboration between the sultan of summer and the amazing Penguin Prison
