i usually stay out of hotd discourse because it gets repetitive fast, but the way some people talk about jace genuinely frustrates me.

the only argument they ever seem to have is that he’s a bastard, as if that automatically invalidates everything he does as a character, and it feels less like actual criticism and more like people looking for reasons to just dismiss him.

and what makes it even stranger is when people claim he has no personality? sure, the show stripped away much of his characterization from the source material (handing parts of it to other characters, including members of the greens) but, somehow, those same people turn around and vouch for aura farmer 1000 (known also, most recently, as mother assaulter) aemond instead? what personality does he have, then?

i just find it bizarre that some fans are willing to excuse or defend abusive behavior, but draw the line at a teenager trying to protect his mother? maybe i’m overthinking it, but i genuinely struggle to understand that logic
