i need, like, a full guide of how they made the Lords in black’s names because i absolutely love them

Nibilenephim, phonetically reminds me of angel hierarchy names, nephilim, seraphim etc. i believe the root language there is Hebrew. also has the Nibble tie-in with the one who feasts which is cool and clever

Blinkotep, similar sounding to some egyptian words, like Amenhotep or Hotep and also has the eye motif with Blinkey.

Wiggog Y’rath obviously has Wrath right there but i have no idea what Wiggog Y is meant to emulate.

i cant identify the language inspiration or the root words behind of the rest of them, Pokotho and Tnoy Karaxis

phonetically, these aren’t sounds we make together in english very often. i think they did a good job making the names feel distant and far away, as an english speaker

i dont know if that feels the same for anyone who speaks another language. i’d love to hear input on that though.

The names are inspired by Lovecraft, who in turn was inspired by various mythologies (like Mesoamerican and Mesopotamian). At my guess, here's a couple of the Lovecraftian inspirations for their names: Nyarlathotep (Blinky), T'yog (T'noy), Yog-Sothoth (Pokotho). There's multiple names with double Gs and -ogs and -aths so it's hard to pick just one for Wiggly. Apostrophes show up in a handful of names as well, although I've always suspected one closer to hand to Cthulhu as the inspiration for Wiggly's - R'lyeh, the underwater city in which Cthulhu slumbers. (I also have a VERY weird theory that Wiggly's name was partially inspired by Harry Potter, as reversed it shares almost the exact same pattern of consonants and vowels, and thematically the maker of something ostensibly meant to bring children joy instead using it to manipulate its fans and use its platform for ill feels... relevant). I swear I had one for Nibbly but I can't remember it, but Lovecraft had at least a few gods with names derived from the Hebrew Bible, like Azathoth, whose name was partially taken from Azazel. So it certainly follows a pattern. Webby is hard to say because we don't know her true name. Bonus assumptions: sniggles were inspired by shoggoths and Wilbur Cross by Wilbur Whateley from The Dunwich Horror - who is, I kid you not, Cthulhu's uncle. (Well, half-uncle, Wilbur had different mother than Cthulhu's parent.)

Inked and colored the drawing from this post earlier tonight! Which I said I wouldn't do because it was too much work! And now it's six hours later and Tinky looks like Bart Simpson, but I also made Wiggly's costume include a shirt that says I WUV U. Life has its ups and downs.
