Her reaction? Give Red a second and it’s a pretty reasonable one, given the bloodless massacre of feathers and birds that fluff the surrounding scene. She’s probably wondering what the hell happened, baffled about what’s around them, now that everything—except the wiggling stufful, whining, huffing, trying to swing up to give Snorlax’s paw a great big chomp!—has calmed.
Heck, if he walked in on this, he’d likely be wondering the same. Probably.

If Moon thought her face couldn’t possibly get any redder, she was so, so wrong. Because— of course. She’s meeting Red, and of course, it’s now that her cheeks are trying out their best involuntary impression of a cheri berry. Moon is silly to think she could ever meet the Red whilst maintaining some facade of dignity, however vague. Of course.
It's a small box, wrapped in green wrapping paper and tied with a red ribbon. Inside, there's a gift card with a considerable amount of cash that can be used in any Poke Mart. There's also a simple chain and locket nestled beside it. Heart shaped, and when clicked, would reveal a place where one could store a small picture (I'm not sure if this is good or not, but I hope that you can find some use in these gifts) - your Secret Santa
It’s just so pretty— pristine paper and beautiful bow atop. Moon’s fingers hesitate, hovering over the package for, probably, far longer than would be normal. Eventually, finally, when curiosity wins over reluctance, Moon still can’t bring herself to tear into the gift. Gently, almost gingerly, she tugs at the ribbon until it comes apart. With the same meticulous care, she pries the paper apart, taking the time to avoid tears.
In the box, Moon recognises a pokémart gift card, which she stashes in her bag for future use. It’s very thoughtful of the gifter; very useful. She’ll be able to spring for some fresh potions— some a replenished supply of repels, which’ll afford her team some well-deserved breaks after training sessions on Poni Island. Real breaks, instead of being called out every other five minutes, when Moon inevitably runs into yet another wild pokémon, on her hike through the tall grass back to the Poni pokécentre.
The item resting next to the card requires closer examination. In the palm of her hand, Moon brings the locket to eye level, observing it from all angles: observing the way it clicks open, the small space to store something within. A picture or photograph, maybe.
Moon’s never really worn jewellery. It’s not something that’s ever really occurred to her to do. She can’t help but be taken by the gift, though; beautiful, yet understated; elegant in its simplicity. It’s lucky, she supposes, that she doesn’t have another necklace to fumble with, as she loops the locket and chain around her neck, fumbling with the clasp for a moment before finally managing to fasten it.
She’ll have to see about downloading and printing the photograph to size later, but Moon already has a pretty good idea of what picture she’ll end up wearing in her heart.
catching up | sun && moon
stepoutofthesunn:
Sun wasn’t expecting to be pulled into a second hug but accepted it wholeheartedly. He gave her a tight squeeze, closing his eyes as he took a moment to properly come to the fact he was back home. He was back here at Alola, with his best friend.
“You better have missed me.” He playfully stuck out his tongue at her promptly after the two parted from the hug.

Moon flashes a small, grateful smile in Sun’s direction. He’s always been quick to notice the minute shifts in her expression, quick reassure her. Maybe it’s because they’ve just known each other so many years, and spent so much time together. Maybe Sun just knows, y’know?
So she hopes he knows what she means when she wrinkles her nose, sympathetic. “I’m sorry,” she says, as earnestly as she can. It sounds weak, flimsy even in her own ears, but it’s the best she can do; she’s got no clue what to say otherwise. She’s as aware as he is that this is something Sun needs to find for himself, by himself. Probably. But, like his training to become champion, Moon wishes she could help.
hear the silence | moon && hau
haulasadas:
Hau’s eyes clenched shut for a brief moment as his Alolan Raichu simply rushed through the opponent’s Pokémon. How could he pick a normal type move for this?! At least the people around him- and maybe even Moon- seemed to think it was just a feint attack; just a distraction for the real deal.

As Cetus’ second shadow claw connects, even Moon, impassive as ever, expression wont to betray nothing, can’t help the tiniest up-quirk of her lips. As quickly as Hibi recovers, hopping back onto its tail, wobbling back into action, Moon’s still satisfied. She’s not sprinting for the finish line, just yet.
Lights, Camera, Action!! && Moon & Lisia
Starter for @mizukix
The Hano Grand Resort, was just as grand as the title made it out to be. Lisia couldn’t believe the size of the place when she’d first arrived. They were having a celebratory anniversary party, and Lisia had been booked in for a performance with her Pokemon.
How could she say no?? This place was astonishing! Set up some fairy lights, decorations, get some grub and Pokemon and this place’d be good to go!
Lisia was too focused on her own thoughts to pay attention to the amount of stares she was getting from Alolan folk who didn’t know who she was. I mean who wouldn’t stare? She’s wearing clouds around her wrists.
Keep reading
Coming to see Hano Grand Resort’s anniversary show had been a spur-of-the-moment decision. Which is, pretty much, out of the ordinary for Moon. She usually operates on a general sort of schedule that doesn’t vary very much, from week to week. Champion duties, training her pokémon at the battle tree, training her pokémon in the tall grass; rinse and repeat. Sometimes, touch down at home to visit her mother. Sometimes, even less than that, she’ll see Hau, or maybe Sun or Gladion or Lillie will be in Alola, and they can hang out.
But Sun or Gladion or Lillie aren’t usually in Alola, and Hau’s usually busy training with his grandfather, so. It’s less maybe, and usually probably not.
But, tonight’s different. Moon can feel it. Even if she’s on her own, which isn’t out of the ordinary at all, it doesn’t weigh her down. She feels lighter. Her head’s clearer. The air’s fresher. Maybe it’s the gentle mood lighting, lights strung up around the lobby. Maybe it’s the the crowd, which she normally finds an inconvenience, if anything. But there’s something about sitting with them, not in front of them, not apart from them, that feels different.

What fight there was left in the flying types ceases with their flying, efforts of their own attacks failing as the electricity spreads through them and makes them drop with the rest of the scattered pokémon.
The wild plains is quite a sight: pokémon scattered amongst dirt ground, lost in wild bush, an exeggutor rustling leaves attached to its head once in a while.
And inbetween where both trainer stands, a snorlax dragging a stufful off from his cheek, clinging on somehow with all its tiny power, before he holds it out to flail uselessly within his paw.
They do say Poni Island has become more active with the newer bosses in place.

At Red’s acknowledgement, Moon’s entire face flushes immediately.
A compliment? A thumbs up? From Red? The Red, once Kanto’s champion, still everything Moon’s ever aspired to be like? That Red, complimenting her? This has to be some sort of dream. A very nice dream, but...
Moon’s stomach lurches, and she very nearly stutters as she tries to think of something— something intelligent, ideally— to say as way of response. She does everything in her power to try not to, short of physically clapping a hand over her own mouth to stop something stupid spilling out. What results is a long moment of awkward silence. It’s probably too long, even.

@mizukix
Moon did text her about meeting her at the dock, right? Lillie double checks her message log on Rotom. The text is still there–no misreading here. She peers up towards the shore again, but she can’t make out any silhouette that resembles her friend. She’s panicking a little inside, even though she really doesn’t have to because, god, it’s Alola. Her home region. She’s not even sure what she’s so jittery about. Maybe it’s because she’s been away for so long, travelling from one region to the next in search for a cure. Is she afraid of the changes that quietly seeped through the once-familiar towns and beaches? Is she afraid of seeing Gladion again and realizing how much time the family has missed spending together after being shattered, again and again? Lillie’s grip on her hat tightens. She wants to put it on, hide from the world like she used to, but she’s determined to be different this time. Especially this time, when she’s coming back for the first time in five years. She can’t tell whether she’s puffing up her chest for herself, or whether she’s just proving a point to her close friends. She wants to show how she’s matured; wants to show to them that she’s caught up, at last. But what if they’ve moved on?

Heart in her throat, Moon prays for charizard to fly faster. Silently, of course. Her higher brain knows that the ride pokémon is already doing its best— all of the ride pokémon are always doing their best— and it’d be pointless and selfish for her to ask more of charizard than it is already giving. But, Moon’s lower brain can’t help but panic. Moon’s lower brain is freaking out. Because she’s going to be late. She’s going to be late to something she’s been oscillating between excitement and extreme nervousness for.
And the worst part is, she doesn’t even know why. Why her emotions have decided to take her on a trip in half a dozen unusual directions, that is. Of course, it’s good to see Lillie again, especially after all this time, but. For the life of her, Moon can’t understand anything of the other things she’s feeling. Not that she’s ever been very good at self-analysis.

Sun’s abroad travels weren’t much of a secret anymore to anyone who knew him — yet he wasn’t one to disclose the actual truth to many of them. Some of the very selected few he entrusted with the secret was Moon. He viewed her as his best friend, so it wasn’t a surprise for him when he told her his secret and let her be in charge as his standby as Alola’s Champion.
So while he was out in other regions, searching for something he’d lost, Moon was in charge for the time being until his visits back home. While he knew she appreciated the work to do, especially since she was struggling like him, Sun always felt a little bad about doing so — he would sometimes think he forced the duty onto her. Thankfully that wasn’t the case when reassured by her during conversations.
And because Moon was his best friend, she was the second person he had rung up when informing he was done for the time being and coming back home.

One moment, Moon’s watching Sun from afar. The next thing she knows, she’s being engulfed in a hug.
She startles, surprised, but the hug isn’t at all unwelcome; he’d only done what Moon herself had wanted to do. It doesn’t last long— not long enough to make Moon uncomfortable, certainly, not that hugs from Sun ever really make her uncomfortable. He’s her best friend, after all.
of ruins | moon && n
@hopefulharmonic
It’s been a long time— years and years, maybe half a decade, really— since Moon’s actually been properly scared of wild pokémon; pokémon that randomly ambush trainers on the road type wild. Well, not quite. Moon’s never actually been scared of wild pokémon, not in the same way Lillie used to be. Even as a beginner trainer just starting out, Moon’s always carried herself with a relative certainty that nothing— nothing that lives in the tall grass, anyway— could seriously hurt her or her team.
As standby Champion, Moon feels like she should have even less to fear. There’s very little that lives in the Alolan wild, bar the tapus and deities themselves, that gives Moon too much pause for thought. Most of Moon’s pokémon, even Saiph, currently the weakest of her battle-oriented team, can handle pokémon ten levels or so below it.
So, simply exploring the Ruins of Hope and the Poni Breaker Coast beyond it isn’t even close to most dangerous thing Moon’s ever done. So, feeling a spritz of water hitting her back, soaking through the fabric of her shirt and dribbling down, starts out as only a smallish irritation. Turning around, Moon faces her challenger.

Electric nets the sky, catching wing after wing, taking out about half of the flock with the ease that’s expected. The pikipekdrop drop the quickest; some of the trumbeaks, losing height in their flight but managing to keep up, decide to join their previous evolutions than to try and get away from the danger.
A few flop over the body of the exeggutor, whose wide leafs rustle, but still seem largely unsure of what to do.

Moon squints up at the sky. That’s about... Half the flock. Pyxis’ discharge manages to take out a few trumbeak, too, though it’s mostly raining pikipek— so, not bad, overall. Wincing slightly as the pokémon land with a thud, Moon’s never been so glad for the bushes there to catch their fall. She hopes they’ll recover without too much trouble; the idea had been to only incapacitate temporarily, not permanently. Hence, opting to use discharge over a more heavy-hitting move.
At any rate, the move pays off— kind of. Echoed voice doesn’t peter out totally, though its volume decreases significantly. That’s definitely a step in the right direction. Arm outstretched, a little apologetic, Moon’s about to order another round of electricity when the rumble of the very earth beneath her draws her attention.

@stepoutofthesunn
It’s probably telling that Moon needs more to fill her life with, when Sun coming back feels like the best news she’s heard in weeks. Not that she’s lacking things to do— Moon has her hands full, just training her pokémon and busying herself with League drudgery.
Champion work is very much the same, day after day. Moon doesn’t get all too many challengers— which is extremely fortunate, in her opinion. Challengers talented enough to make it to Mt. Lanakila, talented enough to beat all four of Alola’s elite, deserve to face the region’s real Champion, not his standby. And paperwork is— well, just paperwork. As per her agreement with Sun, Moon only handles matters of lesser importance, unless in times of crises: administrative cases regarding non-urgent domestic issues; deciding which cases need to be labelled ‘special exception’ and expedited, forwarded to Sun himself.
Not that Moon minds the work. She doesn’t. At all. She’s thankful for it, in fact; Moon doesn’t know what she’d do without it. It’s just... A little monotonous, is all. And anything that breaks that monotony is reason enough to celebrate.
