Holy shit!!! thrash is alive and well!!!

Deicide is one band that I have always looked over. I was never big on the satanic side of metal. I was always of the mindset of fuck the church and fuck the devil, they are both bullshit. So I never really gave this band a chance. Well this morning I went outside to brave the cold and go to the bagel store to get breakfast for my wife and I and I was in her car. She has Sirius in her car so I tuned right to liquid metal. Well fear factory was on so of course in turned it up loud as hell. well the song was just about over and then the intro Deicide's "In the mind of evil" came on. The intro is a distorted evil sounding recording of Michael Cain as Alfred from the dark night saying "some men just want to watch the world burn". It had me from that point!! brutal double bass and great crunchy heavy riffs. Totally had be driving way too fast. Then the lyrics kicked in and went hand in hand with the grove of the song. Totally kicks ass. I have since played the song at least 20 times. I've started playing the rest of the album as well and its equally as good. Now, I know that deicide is pretty much in the death metal area, but this song is pure uncorrupted thrash metal and there is no denying the punk grove of thrash that can be heard during this song. Now, I'm not about to brand an inverted cross into my forehead like singer Glen Benton, but I will say that this song has made me extremely interested in their entire catalog. Give it a listen, great stuff and completely grabbed me by the throat.

The album that changed music for me- Slayer "Reign In Blood"

I think i was about 7 years old when i first heard this album.  My older brothers used to sit in a dark room with candles burning and play this album loud as fuck. I knew I liked it right away. Just the speed of it interested me as a little kid. I always thought the opening scream on Angel of Death was hysterical, until I got older and realized how brutal it was. This was my first real experience with thrash and speed metal. I've been listing to this album now for about 27 years and it has yet to get old and is still relevant to this day. This album changed my view of music for ever. It took me from being a kid and liking Van Halen and Ratt, and threw me right into thrash metal. My brothers used to listen to a lot of hair metal and only a little bit of thrash and death metal, so I got it when I could get it be cause God knows my parents would have never bought me Anthrax's Among the Living when I was that young. Slayer broke me into all that kind of music and even the hardcore punk stuff. This album will always be one of my top 5 favorites and is impossible to ever get sick of. \m/

What is happening to hard music this day and age????

Take this band for instance, Of Mice and Men. Rip off, wanna be hardcore. That's all it is. It's "Notice me.  I'm covered in tattoos and I was late to my prom!!!!"  I would love to see Roger Miret come steaming out of the Bowery and eat these imposters for breakfast.  So many bands out there that sound like this noise. Give it up!!!
