“I think you have just cracked a vampire theory. Don’t bats eat worms though? Maybe there are vegetarian vampire bats that don’t eat worms, like in finding nemo. ‘Worms are friends, not food.’” She giggled, before pressing send. Giving him a nudge at his other response, she gave a shake of her head just before she rested it on his shoulder. Her thumbs typing away. “Where would you even install it? Would you buy the shark clothes and style it? He could still eat you and love you at the same time, like those insects that mate and then bite the head of the male off. What if she loved him? What if she didn’t want to kill him, but she had to because her family forced her too? …I think I broship you and shark Haejin. His nature is compelling him to eat you, a forbidden broship. Now that’s weird. Kittens will never get cold, ever, even kittens could warm the vampire. Their warmness would be no match for vampire-ism. All hail kittens!” This was most definitely one of the weirdest conversations they had had, not the weirdest, but one of them.

Haejin grinned, nodding and snickering quietly. “Exactly! Just like that. Or like, you know how some people have pet pigs but most people eat pigs? Maybe some bats just have pet worms that are for being pets, not for eating,” he reasoned in his next messaged, patting her head gently when he felt her lean on him. It wasn’t long before his head was resting on top of hers. He thought for a moment before replying, “I’d find some sort of massive underground cave and have it installed there. That way it’ll be secret and hidden so it was just my shark and no one could steal him. Whoa, that’s some deep thinking. Um...if he ate me because his family made him, I guess I could forgive him. I mean my mom had to pretend like I didn’t exist for a while to make her family happy, so I get it. Forbidden broships are my favorite. Shark Haejin and I will be the best of friends--you’ll see. Don’t worry, though--no one could replace you.” Haejin giggled, scrunching up his face. “Okay but like.....vampire kittens though.”

Spotting a quaint, tree shaded park bench she tugged a little on his arm to signal him to it. Apparently Fall hadn’t gotten the memo that if you didn’t look up while texting sometimes that there could be obstacles in your walkway, thus her taking action to find somewhere to sit. Face contorting into momentary thought, her fingers typed back quickly. “No way! They obviously have a special bond with bats. It’s science, vampire science. I’m well versed in it,” she beamed, a light laugh emitting past her lips, “Sounds like you’d need an enormous fish tank. A mini sharky Haejin, what happens when it tries to eat you? I was thinking a vampire kitten. I think cats and vampires go together too. Like tea and reading,”

He jumped a little and looked up from his phone when she tugged him, smiling at her and nodding as he followed along behind her. Sitting on the bench and cozying up to Fallon, he looked down at his phone, smile only growing. “Okay,  okay but.....are the bonded with bats? or are they bats? Because I’m pretty sure they can shapeshift into bats, and that’s something different entirely. I’ll be they are bats, and have bonds with worms,” he reasoned, glancing up at her with a grin before typing more. “I’ll get him an olympic sized swimming pool to swim around in. Maybe bigger. who knows. No way! he wont bite me--he loves me. We share a bond. I’ll bet the kitten would get cold,t hough, because vampires are pretty cold and kitties are so warm and fuzzy.”

Nara watched with wide eyes at his sudden movement. She was very aware that if he accidentally fell from his spot, it would be her responsibility to break his fall. “Please be careful.” her soft voice carrying a hint of concern for his well being. “That feels much better, thank you.” even though the hoodie still played a big roll in everything, she was satisfied with the cool breeze. “Oh really? Do you guys have my size?”

He hummed a little to himself, jumping down happily when he was done and flashing her a reassuring smile (she looked pretty worried). “You’re welcome,” he replied with a nod, sitting on the counter for a second before jumping up. “Oh, definitely. We have everyone’s size. C’mon--you can pick something out.”

Fallon often thought about creatures that couldn’t show much emotion feeling down or sad. Not as much in a depressing was, but in a curious way. Feeling relaxed, her eyes scoped out future resting spots. Letting her arm swing freely–she’d realized how long it actually had been since she had actually gotten outside. Who better to take a walk in the park with than someone she felt so comfortable with. Training meant so much time indoors, but as long as there was a place for her to chill she would remain content. Opening his reply, she nodded in agreement, a smile on her lips as she quickly texted back, “In this book I read, there was a vampire support group and one of the vampires kept worms as pets and I find that really..odd. Worms aren’t even cute, if you were a vampire what type of pet would you have? Not worms right?”

Haejin was still relatively new to MK, so he was still trying to prove himself and solidify his spot at the company. He loved Joonki, but he wanted to be known as a good stylist. He wanted people to know he had his job because he loved his work. Not because his brother was the head stylist. And he thought he was doing pretty well; he was making significantly less mistakes, at least. But a break was definitely something he needed right then. And time spent with Fallon was always time well spent. “Maybe worms and vampires have special bonds. Like a worm to a vampire is like a dog to a human,” he sent his reply, smiling at her, before quickly typing a second one. “No. I think I’d want a pet shark. they’d have pointy teeth just like me.”

Spring had definitely arrived, the air was crisp and the sun was out. Everything in the park had began to grow, in other words perfect reading weather. Although, Fallon said that about every season, not to mention everyday. The small bag that was holding her book rested on her shoulder and her phone was in her hand as her opposite arm was linked with Haejin’s. Walking slow and steady to enjoy it. Unlocking her phone, she typed away. “Do you think worms are sad?” @mkhaejin

Haejin loved being outside. Hours stuck inside stuffy dressing rooms meant he lived for it, but because his mom was incredibly overprotective, he wasn’t usually allowed to go outside unless someone was with him. Lucky for him, Fallon was going out. He loved being around Fallon. Swinging their arms happily as they walked, he looked around, breathing in the fresh air, before taking out his phone and reading the text from her. He frowned, thinking for a second before replying via text, “I think it depends. I bet they are when they get caught on the sidewalk after it rains”

“Were almost at my apartment,” Haejin announced, leading the younger boy along by his hand. Usually he wasn’t allowed to walk home without Sola or Joonki or his mom, but since Weili was coming, he was okay. He just had to have someone, so everyone could be sure that he didn’t get hurt or anything on his way home. “My mom isn’t gonna be home from her job until late, so it’s just gonna be us.”

After a moment, he turned to his friend with a grin. “What do  you want to do? We could have popcorn....watch a movie....play a board game...whatever you want!” This was his first sleepover in a long time (he wanted to have one with Sola, but his mom wouldn’t let him) and honestly he was pretty excited.” @mkweili

If she would’ve known it would be this hot in the shop, she might have grabbed a fan or bought a water bottle. Maybe they could reschedule her appointment because it was a little too hot for comfort right now. “We should crack open the door or turn on the air.” she suggested to the male while picking up a magazine and fanning herself. It was only the beginning of spring so why was it this hot? “Now I feel stupid for wearing this hoodie.” giggling a little, running a hand through her hair before wiping her forehead.

“Here gimme a sec. I’ll crack a window,” Haejin murmured, scrambling on top of one of the counters to reach the high window. He was short, but thankfully the counter was not, she he reached it pretty easily, pushing it open and letting the cool air come in. He turned and crouched on the counter, looking back at her. “How’s that? Better? As for the hoodie, we’ve probably got a tank top or soemthing in the store room if you want it?”

“People have probably been caught doing weirder,” She scrunched up her nose, trying to shake the image out of her head. Tia smirked, “Jail breaking is my favorite,” Grabbing his hand to take him on the route she uses to leave undetected. Noting that the fact she even had one of these is seriously questionable. “Should we go somewhere specific or the mall I can’t really decide? Ah! I have my face mask in here somewhere too,” Turning a bit to dig in her bag, she found what she was looking for and put it on then pulled it down so she could talk to him. “Incognito.” She explained, wiggling her eyebrows.

“Probably. The weirdest thing I’ve been caught doing is sitting in a practice room with heavy metal blasting on the highest volume level, but I mean.....if you put into perspective the fact that I’m deaf, it becomes a whole lot less weird...” he admitted, squeezing her hand and letting her drag him along. He had a little bounce to his step--he was honestly pretty excited to finally get out of the company building. “How about we head to the mall, and then if you see anywhere you want to go, just pull me along inside?” he offered, grinning. He chuckled a little. “Hey, it works. I can’t even tell it’s you!” he teased.

She paced back and forth the hall of the MK floor until locking eyes with a familiar face. A look of excitement overcame her face as she ran towards them with a shout. “Hey! Hi! Remember that one time I did that thing for you but told you don’t worry about it? Now’s the time to worry; I need your help!” Jamie stopped before the other, giving them a wink and a wide smile. “So, what do ya’ say?”

Haejin didn’t hear her initial shouts; that was the beauty with being deaf, he supposed--you couldn’t hear people shouting for you. Or maybe that was the downside.....either way, he didn’t see her until he turned and jumped, noticing her running towards him and reading her lips just quick enough to mostly catch what was going on. “Um...what do you need help with?”

“Really, I wasn’t prepared for the drastic change of temperature. No amount of research could prepare me for how intensely warm it’s getting out here. I need something to cool me down, lemonade or ice ream..- anything.” Nara spoke softly, fanning herself a little with a piece of paper. “Is it really that hot or am I going crazy?”

The shop, where all the stylists did most of their work, was stiflingly hot on a regular day, what with the hot irons and the tons of people moving in and out in close proximity. Today, however? Haejin was absolutely dying. If the temperature change had been more gradual, he’d’ve been used to it, but he was sweating so much he felt like he’d drown in it. He ran a hand through his damp hair, scrunching up his face in disgust and wiping his hand on his pants. “Does that answer your question?” he asked with a little giggle.

put simply, namgil wanted to scream. he wanted to throw a tantrum, he wanted to cry, he wanted to make a scene. but he couldn’t, his pride always took priority over his emotions so the male remained quiet, eyes unfocused. this was the third time in a row that namgil’s stage was pushed back for accommodation to one of the other groups. anger boiled down his skin to the bone, it felt like he was being gutted. it was a stab to him personally, he knew it. 

even if his conscious ate at the back of his mind in the dead of night, he refused to voice his concerns to the ceo. it was already burdensome enough to be known as the “i think he’s a drug addict, that’s definitely why he can’t recognize anybody” guy, he would not add on to that list with “he thinks just because he’s different he gets what he wants” guy. 

with a sigh of defeat, he settled into one of the chairs, waving off a stylist because he didn’t need make up. they always tried to put eyeliner or concealer on him and it frustrated him, because shouldn’t his style be more known by now among the staff? he doesn’t wear make up or flashy stage outfits, he refuses to be acknowledged for that. his eyes fluttered closed and that helped the dull throb in his temple if only a little, the telltale sign of a headache blooming.

when footsteps approached cautiously behind him, namgil slumped even further into the chair, murmuring a weak, “please don’t… i’m kalopsia, not some pretty member of ace. just… don’t. i’m exhausted. please.”

he’d barely been at mk a year, but he was finally getting into the swing of things. yejin and joonki were confident enough in his skill to give him a little more autonomy, and he could finally do make up on someone that wasn’t himself without somehow screwing it up, if only a little. he was finally part of the company, which was a big step considering he had to work twice as hard just to keep up. especially in meetings. boy, did he ever hate department meetings. there were too many people trying to talk at once, and he didn’t ever know who to pay attention to. 

he loved being backstage the best, out of everything. the speakers were so loud, and he could actually hear the music that was being played. he was past getting shocked and emotional about it, too--now he just tried to enjoy it while he could, before he had to pack up and go back to the company building. 

today’s stage was a little chaotic, though. they were short staff, so he found himself scrambling to make sure everything was in order, not even having time to enjoy the music. next on the list was kalopsia, someone he’d never worked with before, but that wasn’t surprising--for the most part, he had been paired with ace because he was one of the few stylists jimin liked. spotting the soloist in a chair, haejin hurried over.

he wasn’t lucky enough to catch his face in time to read what he had said, though. awkwardly scratching his arm, haejin spoke up timidly, “um....could you say that again? i couldn’t see your lips so i can’t tell what you were saying....” he trailed off, pushing his sweaty hair out of his face--running around was starting to take a toll on him, and backstage was stupidly hot. checking his schedule, he added, “I’m in the right place, right? i think i’m supposed to be doing your hair. that’s what it says on the list......’

The moment Haejin settled beside him, Jimin didn’t even hesitate in dropping his head to the other’s shoulder. His sniffles only got stronger and he wiped his nose in his sleeve. “Haejin!” He wailed loudly, phone dropping to his lap as he clung to his friend. “Haejin! Today is such a sad day. It’s awful. I just can’t believe it.” 

And now actual tears were rolling down his cheeks as the video on his phone played on, headphones popping out and the distinct pop tune of the Hannah Montana theme song filling the room and echoing off the walls. “Ten years, buddy! Ten years since Miley Cyrus took on the heavy burden of Hannah Montana and graced us all with her auto-tuned popstar, sequined tv show. “She– she just… has the best of both worlds. She has every shoe!”

Hae jumped a little, turning to look at Jimin so he could catch it just in case he said something, and wrapping his arm around his shoulders. Even then, it was a little hard to read his lips, but he got the overall gist of it. “What happened? Did someone get hurt? Did you get hurt? Are you and Zumi doing okay?” His head went over all possible scenarios, preparing for the worst.

Trying to catch the phone as it dropped awkwardly, he just barely caught the explanation. “Ten years is a long time--we should celebrate it. If there’s a version with subtitles, I can watch with you? I can watch otherwise too--I just won’t understand anything.”

“What if someone did it in there? Ew, no.” Letting out  a ‘HA!’ from her small frame, a small smile formed on her lips.. “You’re probably the only one thinking I’m sane right now. But, I appreciate it.” Starting to feel a bit claustrophobic in the building, an idea popped into her head. “Want to help me sneak out of practice so I can go shopping? You’re even an asset to bring along in the first place. The whole stylist thing. I just need out of here for a bit,”

“That’d be really stupid of them. There are cameras in there. They don’t get checked often, but they’re in there. They’d be risking a lot,” Haejin muttered, shrugging a little. “Doubtful. You’re definitely welcome, though.” His eyes widened, but he nodded, a huge grin on his face. He wasn’t really allowed to go anywhere without someone going with him because his mother was awfully overprotective, but this was perfect. “let’s go, then!”

Jimin sat huddled in the corner of a practice room, phone in his hand and almost hear tears. His sniffles were audible and his headphones in his ears as he bopped his head along to something. He was on a break between schedules right now and the moment he could he bolted off with phone in his hand. Someone made a joke on his tail about how he was having Zumi withdrawal (and while yes that was also happening) he was generally an emotional mess today ever since the reminder notification popped up on his phone this morning. 

Today was the day. Wiping his eyes with the back of his hand, he mumbled along to the lyrics he knew by heart, not even paying enough attention to know he had gained some company. “Hottest style… every shoe, every color….”

It was a slow day in the shop--not a lot of idols were appearing in anything, so no one had to go with them, and the ones who were coming in to get their makeup done for the day had already done so. And since the interns were in today, learning how to patch things up, Haejin’s services weren’t required. It was kind of like a day off, but not really since he had to stay at the company. So he started wandering, eventually finding his best friend in a practice room. 

He couldn’t quite make out what the eldest was saying, since he was too far away to read his lips, but he was visibly upset. So Haejin entered the room and curled up beside Jimin, right up against him--kind of like one of those dogs who could sense when you were upset, and snuggled you to help you feel better.
