Ted had never intended to end up getting up late. In fact he intended on actually sleeping but that wasn’t happening. After tossing and turning for a few hours he got up and pulled on his sweater to fend off the cold before walking out of his dorm and heading towards the kitchens. He was just going to get some tea and then back to bed, but before he could get there someone’s voice stopped him in his tracks. He lifted his wand a little bit to brighten the dark corridor and his heart rate slowed back down when he realized who it was. “I’m sorry if I startled you, Mary,” he said, offering her a sheepish smile.
Her heart thudded against her chest, pounding most furiously with every beat. A shiver ran down her spine, like icy fingertips trailing down her skin. She spun on her heels, turning around to face whatever was following her. A sigh of relief escaped her lips at the sight of Ted Tonks. “No, you’re fine,” she replied, shaking her head. “I’m just a bit jumpy I suppose.”
