I still can’t stop thinking about the “We’re just keeping it casual, right?” Comment
Because:
A) keeping implies that at the start it was meant to be casual, and then something happened and a conversation was opened about shifting that, and then subsequently the conversation was closed.
B) in the context of watching the fireworks together and Santos’ inquiries, it could mean that Yolanda is trying to signal that the behaviour isn’t casual. I just don’t know if she means that it sounds too much like a date, or that she isn’t comfortable with Trinity asking during work.
C) right before this she says, “I made other plans” and you can clearly see on her face that she is lying through her teeth surprised at what came out of her mouth (even Yolanda was like “i did??”)
D) the “right?” Is what fucks me up the most. Is that her saying “you wanted this, this is what casual is, this is what you wanted.” Or is it her saying, “we talked about this before, its casual, i’m setting my boundaries.” The way she nods as she says “right” WHAT DOES IT MEAN
One thing I can be semi sure about is that this was not a throwaway comment, the tone and events to me looked like Yolanda wanted to prove a point.
