Just got some very local wool because I thought it might be fun to try and work with the real, non-synthetic stuff (and also support a smaller local spot).

I’ve now untangled and cleaned the first lot of it, and here’s a fun fact: Sheep are really fucking dirty :>

Idk if anyone will care about this but I think stuff like this is really quite a lot of fun. More “typical” handiwork like whittling, weaving, hand sewing or carpenting (especially when I’m figuring it out on my own without a guide) is just something I’ve always really enjoyed.

My mom said I might be able to try spinning my own thread sometime, as she does in fact have a spindle somewhere.

Super excited about that.

Art is inherently human.

Art says something, even if that something is just “I think this looks neat” or “art doesn’t need to mean anything to be good”, we imbed a small part of who we are into the artwork we create, whether we mean to or not.

I get so genuinely angry at the people who think an ai, trained on the work of humans, can create anything.

So I made this.

Here we are human.

Because ai has no place in art.

OKAY SO I am very mildly pissed off this morning because I was just woken up from a dream in a way that felt like the universe itself playing a prank on me.

Basically, I was having one of those weird dreams where nothing’s really connected and it’s just a bunch of random stuff and at the end of it I found myself in a white void with a gallery wall.

This gallery wall was composed entirely of the same black and white photo of some dude (I couldn’t remember exactly what he looked like so I just used Ryley Robinson here) arranged in a rhombus shape.

I managed to look at it enough to register what it was but didn’t really have time to think much of it.

Because then.

And then I woke up.

I found this sticker at my dad’s work and I think it’s meant to be positive and uplifting but to me it just feels extremely off, almost dystopian, like someone is trying to cope in an impossible environment.

So of course I had to draw Joo Dee on top of it.
