Whoa.
does anyone know if we've epically defeated fascism by ironically emasculating its figureheads yet
Andy Goldsworthy,
Ice Star, 1987
The sculpture was created in 1987 near the Scaur Water river in Scotland.
For this piece, he attached icicles together at their bases using his saliva, which would freeze to act as a natural glue.
anyone else ever think about how it's been march 2020 for over five and a half years
there are occasional people in my notes making this about general "mental health," or going like "hee hee sounds like you're in a time loop op" and i cannot stress enough how much this flippant post from 1:18am on a sunday morning is about the ongoing covid-19 pandemic.
been asking around, dont know where i can find the answer to this one, maybe you know: did dick cheney make money off the iraq war?
a man died old and in comfort today after having people tortured and murdered for profit. thousands and thousands of people tortured in ways that are difficult to even fucking read about, well over a million people fucking dead. i'm angry. yes i reblogged it forty times. i'm angry. aren't you angry? do you think i reblogged it forty times because i think it's a ha ha funny joke? i don't know how old you are, anon. i remember this country having a big public conversation about when and whether it was acceptable for the USA not just to abduct and imprison people without rights, charges, or trial, but to torture them. and which ways were best. and the people saying that it was ok to do this won. and now every couple years one of them dies in comfort. i don't know what else to do. yes, dick cheney made money off the iraq war. now go read about what that war actually meant and remind yourself after every sentence that someone engineered this, for profit, on purpose, and got away with it. and died today comfortable and wealthy and smug. what the fuck do you want me to say, anon?
this is a video of Yasiin Bey, who you may know as the legendary performing artist Mos Def, choosing to attempt to undergo the standard force feeding procedure used at the Guantanamo Bay black site on people held without trial and often without being charged. this is not even one of the tortures to which people were subjected during interrogation; rather this is how they kept prisoners alive who attempted to hunger strike in protest of their torture. out of a conviction and bravery and depth of compassion that i can scarcely comprehend, and in an act of solidarity attempting to show what can otherwise not be shown, Mr. Bey tries to willingly suffer the same treatment. i think the least we owe is to watch.
this video changed my life and you have a responsibility to allow it to change yours.

i found out about 9/11 when i walked into my 2nd grade classroom at 7 years old and my teacher was sobbing at her desk. i was still in elementary school when we invaded iraq, and then afghanistan, & still when john yoo's Torture Memos were leaked to the press and we had a national public debate about torturing people and concluded that it was fine. i'm 31 now. none of this was a secret while it happened, none of it was a secret since, and every single person who helped make it happen and profited directly from it has been enjoying their blood money for going on 25 years. nothing about today is fucking funny.

More excerpts from the extremely beautiful “Subjective Atlas of Palestine“ project. View the full publication via link.
About: The Dutch designer Annelys de Vet invited Palestinian artists, photographers and designers to map their country as they see it. Given their closeness to the subject, this has resulted in unconventional, very human impressions of the landscape and the architecture, the cuisine, the music and the poetry of thought and expression. The drawings, photographs, maps and narratives made for this atlas reveal individual life experiences, from preparing chickpeas to a manual on water pipe smoking, from historic dress to modern music. Pages containing humorous and caustic newspaper cartoons and invented Palestinian currency followed by colourful cultural diaries and moving letters from prisoners. All in all, the contributions give an entirely different angle on a nation in occupied territory. In this subjective atlas it is the Palestinians themselves who show the disarming reverse side of the black-and-white image generally resorted to by the media.

going insane. it is blatantly obvious to me when someone's first encounter with healthcare injustice is trans healthcare and it enrages me like nothing else. "why are these vulnerable young people being denied life-saving healthcare when the job of a doctor is to save lives?" I'm going to need you to talk to disabled people, especially disabled people of colour. I'm going to need you to go talk to first nations people, and read about the ways healthcare systems have been used as a tool for colonial violence. hell, if you want to stay in the gender theory specific bubble you're in, why don't you look at intersex history, or reproductive injustices. the medical system is a system of power that is steeped in the same power dynamics as anything else. your ability to respond to the (very real, very troubling) approaches to trans healthcare will be limited if you are not able to understand the nature of the system of power that is Healthcare
The littlest bit frustrated to see leftist spaces remember October 7th primarily as a day of mourning, and not as the anniversary of the most successful military action launched by the Palestinian resistance, and the beginning of a united military front through which Palestinian resistant groups have come together to free their homeland. Let us mourn the victims of Israeli violence, but let us also celebrate the militants who, on this day two years ago, broke down the Walls of their prison!
artists who are so technically competent it makes you angry cause the subject matter is some trite bullshit you've seen glorified a william times
the most wonderful rendering you've ever seen in pencils and guess what. it's another sexy skinny guy
