instead of dying in the explosion, Chuck is teleported to the pre-knifehead timeline. he never got a chance to properly apologize to Raleigh or even have a decent conversation with the guy. yeah, Chuck accepted that Raleigh isn’t a has been, but they’re coworkers at best.

everything Chuck knows about old Raleigh he learned through interviews, live news coverage, articles, and the small comments Herc made here and there. so he’s well aware that Raleigh was a flirt.

Chuck expected to see some cheesy pickup lines and winking up close. directed towards women. what he wasn’t expecting was for Raleigh to be a smooth as hell, like so so SO charismatic, and he never expected all that energy to be directed at himself.

is it morally wrong to have sex with the five-ish years younger (forgot the timeline mb) version of your coworker? Chuck thinks it is. He’s trying his best to ignore Raleigh’s attempts, it wouldn’t feel right to take advantage. But MAN is it difficult. it’s Raleigh fucking Becket.

so i’ve noticed that there’s usually two versions of Chuck in fics, so i’m curious about which one people prefer or if there’s other portrayals of him that y’all like

version one is usually a Chuck who’s focused on jaeger duties. he wants to be productive as much as possible and in doing so, he unintentionally isolates himself from everyone else. he doesn’t leave the shatterdome unless it’s for work stuff. bro has 0 friends and no Max doesn’t count.

version two is a Chuck who tries to socialize but loses his patience / doesn’t know how / finds it tiring. he’s had flings but they’re always eh (+ drifting with Herc later on just ruins it). he does go out, he does try new hobbies here and there. OR he is good at socializing when given breathing room. bottom line for this version is that he actually does something other than work.
