Din wearily lets his head fall back against the headboard and closes his eyes. There’s no point in denying it. He’d be your best thing for life, if you’d have him. 

He still has yet to hear from Peli. He doesn’t want her to call, but he needs her to fucking call because he’s not sure how much longer he can exist on the brink. Everyday he catches himself thinking of how easily you would have fit in these past two years. How stupidly perfect life would be if Grogu was with you now. 

Moments like this are their own type of agony, but he welcomes the pain because each hour, each minute, each second, could be the last. The morning he awoke without feeling the weight of your fingertips on his shoulder, he thought you had vanished just as inexplicably as you came. Your arm had merely slipped down, but the split-second possibility that he’d never see you again left him so stricken that he bolted to the fresher, dry heaving. It has nothing to do with coming to terms whether he loves you, but just to have some fucking closure. To know you’re safely returned home and he can fool himself into believing that the wound will someday heal.

there’s going to be a difference sometimes between the stories that you find masterfully crafted and the stories that mean a lot to you personally and those two things don’t have to overlap completely or even at all to make that story worthwhile

and that’s a good thing to remember as a reader/viewer/etc but also as a writer because even if whatever you ultimately write is full of mistakes, someone out there is gonna take it so to heart that it fundamentally changes them as a person. and that is. Huge.
