Even unicorns struggle with their mental health sometimes.
Forget all the haters.
Sometimes it blows my mind that I live here now. It still feels so surreal. I can’t believe we just packed our bags and started driving here, without any real plans or job prospects. But - it all fell into place.
When I drive around, I’m in awe of how vastly different the landscape is here compared to back home in California. I still miss home, but I’m coming to appreciate what Las Vegas has to offer.

Sometimes I hear a song and I can’t help but think of you - it takes me back to where we used to be, a time where life was simpler. There was no regretting the past or worrying about the future, just living in the moment with each other. Now, even though things are different, at least we have our memories.
Once you graduate high school, you see who your real friends are. People change. Someone who you thought was your best friend will cut you off completely. Some of us enter high school with plenty of friends and end with only a few close ones. Others of us enter high school with only a few close friends and end with no friends at all. It’s just how life is. It’s like that sometimes. It sucks but it happens to almost everyone.

Loose Ends
I had a dream the other night and it made me so sad. I dreamt that some guy named Tom Coates (I think, now I’m not so sure) came by to tell me that he had my cat Pirate for a while, and he hadn’t realized Pirate was my cat. At first, I was so excited because I thought it meant I was being reunited with Pirate. But I noticed the man looked extremely upset, like something was bothering him. He broke down a bit and said he was extremely sorry, but that Pirate had been hit by a car. He said if it were him, he’d want to know so he could have closure. He was extremely apologetic, that he wish he’d known I was looking for him sooner, that maybe this wouldn’t have happened. I was extremely heartbroken and started crying.
For those who don’t know, Pirate is my cat of 12+ years that went missing last October. I guess in some ways it’s my subconscious trying to make sense of it. It’s hard not knowing what really happened to him. I like to believe he’s still out there somewhere, though.
imagine how amazing and beautiful of an experience it would be raising your child and teaching them witchcraft (w their consent of course)
taking them to crystal shops and gem shows and letting them pick out a couple, having their own little altar, going on nature walks trying to spot faeries and collecting little treasures, dancing under the full moon not to mention just celebrating all the festivals w them, baking magic infused treats, all the DIY witchiness as arts and crafts time, sewing them magical dream pillows for great, imaginative dreams and scaring away nightmares, knitting enchanted blankets for warmth and comfort and protection, leaving out offerings for the fae, having some witchy gardens and growing allllll the plants, meditation sessions when we need to calm down and ground ourselves, magical bath time
Okay, I’m pretty meh on having kids but this legit made me go AW.
Yesterday was our one month anniversary of living in Las Vegas! Time flies! People have been asking how it's treating us. It's been pretty awesome! The hot weather hasn't been our favorite, but at least pretty much everywhere we go is air conditioned. It was kinda scary just up and leaving to a new place with no real plan or job prospects, but everything is falling into place. For the first time in a long time, we're not stressing out about finances or working really hard just to barely get by. We're paying 1/6th the cost in rent for much more space. We can actually go out and do things. Also, the people we've met are super awesome! The Bay Area will always have a place in my heart, but it's not really feasible for most young people to build a life there anymore. I'm really excited for the adventures that lie ahead!
There's a roller skating rink by our place and I'm absolutely digging it! I'd love to make this a regular thing and meet more skaters. Hit me up if you're in the area!
I just wanna do cute things with you like crush the patriarchy, fight for gender equality and help to destroy racism
True.
Mirena Months 3-6
Okay, so I’ve totally lagged on giving monthly updates.
I guess because there isn’t really anything else to say. Getting a Mirena has been one of the best decisions of my life. I feel fantastic. I forget it’s even there.
I have a lot more energy and I have a better mood overall compared to when I was on the pill. I still get my periods, but they’re incredibly light. I’m saving so much money on not having to buy/use as many feminine care products.
I’m pretty happy.

Unicorn in Las Vegas
While it’s going to take a while to adjust to the heat, so far I’m pretty psyched about our move to Las Vegas. I feel this is a really good move financially. As much as I love the Bay Area, it doesn’t really make sense to pay over $2k for a 1 bedroom apartment.
What kind of life is it to just work just so you can barely get by?
There are definitely things I will miss - like the weather, work, my friends, and family - but I’m also looking forward to a new adventure. It was time for a change.
I’m still trying to figure out what I will be doing for work, but in the meantime I will be staying on as a contractor with my previous employer so I’m psyched about that.
I can’t wait to make new friends and experience all that Las Vegas has to offer!
