Ah, I believe he’s definitely one of the most classic yanderes out there! Still, he has his own layers of complexity, depending on the scenario, the setting, or the kind of darling he’s dealing with. The kind of One Piece character I’d love to write more about! So yes! I agree! We need more yandere Shiryu. Though, I bet the *quote* normal one would automatically be stamped into that category if he were to fall in love...
* Shiryu never pays much mind to most people, until you. The first time he sees you, it’s your quick thinking and knack for survival that grab his attention, but what really draws him in is how determined you are to stay away from him the second you notice his interest. The fear and caution in your eyes only make him want to corner you all the more.
* From the very beginning, Shiryu’s interest is a selfish and hungry, hungry thing. Every time you manage to slip from his grasp, he does feel amusement at your escapes- a sharp, electric thrill that makes the pursuit all the more delicious for him. To Shiryu, your flight is a game he’s intent on winning, but it’s a deadly serious one, and he’s determined that it only ends when you are in his grasp.
* No matter where fate places him, Shiryu’s obsession overrides everything else. As Head Jailer, he'd be capable to turn Impel Down into a massacre to try and break out and pursue you if he truly has to, preferably trying to leave through legal means first, and subduing his blood lust for long enough to try and do just that. If he’s with Blackbeard, he’ll abandon the crew in the dead of night. And when someone tries to stop him, he’ll relish the chance to spill blood, no matter who it is. His betrayal is absolute, and he does it without even a shred of guilt.
* He stalks you like prey, exploiting every bit of his stealth to keep you off-balance and anxious. Half-smoked cigars, muffled footsteps, a chill on the back of your neck… These are reminders that you can run, but you can’t truly hide. He wants you to feel hunted. He wants you to know escape is impossible.
* Anyone who so much as offers you help or shelter becomes a target. Shiryu eliminates them swiftly, never bothering to hide the evidence. Sometimes he leaves a brutal warning, just to remind you what happens when others actively get between him and the woman he wants. You learn quickly: you’re utterly alone against him.
* Shiryu’s patience is paper-thin. He will cross oceans, destroy entire strongholds, and burn every bridge just to get close to you. If you vanish into the wilds, he will cut through every obstacle, still managing to leave carnage in his wake. He doesn’t care about who he was supposed to be loyal to before; all that matters is reaching you. His bounty climbing to record heights.
* For you, there is no “game.” You run because you have to. Because by now, you know Shiryu will never, ever stop. He doesn’t want you running forever; he wants you caught, subdued, unable to ever slip from his grasp again, willing. The longer you escape, the more vicious his pursuit becomes, and the less mercy he has for anyone caught in his path.
* For all his violent obsession, Shiryu’s loyalty is absolute once his fixation is set. No matter how stunning or alluring other women may be, his gaze never wavers from you anymore. Every thought, every ounce of his attention is reserved solely for you, and you alone. To him, everyone else is irrelevant background noise now; you’re the only one worth seeing, worth wanting, worth having, and he makes it clear in every look and word that he, too, belongs to no one else. Whether you like that or not…
* When the area is much too populated, or protected for him to act, Shiryu settles for staking you out from across the crowd. He’d lock eyes with you in a silent, unbreakable stare, his predatory grin leaving no doubt about his intentions. If he does anything, he makes sure you know it’s from him, usually through a direct, unsettling message or simply his looming presence. Every encounter is a warning: you belong to him, and it’s only a matter of time before he closes in… And that you don’t want to run anymore.
* Once you’ve surrendered to him willingly, Shiryu’s lust for you is endless, almost feral. He has a very high sex drive and never seems satisfied for long, wanting you again and again, often at the most unpredictable moments. Your surrender only fuels his appetite, but if you’re not in the mood, he’ll respect it. He keeps it to a very hungry look and a wordless promise for the night after, or the one after that. Always hinting that it’s inevitable, and you’ll be completely his again soon enough.

* Shiryu is keenly aware of your limits. He’s learned your boundaries through sheer instinct and careful observation. He has a dark respect for them, boldly riding right up against that line with almost every encounter. He wants to see you squirm, to watch you balance on the edge.
* In moments of anger or jealousy, Shiryu pushes through those boundaries further. He’s deliberate in the way he toys with the line between pleasure and pain, sometimes tipping you over just enough to remind you of his control. He’s ruthless in his intensity, but always stops in time. he knows exactly how much you can take and takes twisted pride in keeping you right where he wants you; breathless, trembling, but never broken.
* There’s always a careful, almost respectful balance in Shiryu’s dominance. He’ll never go so far as to break your spirit or push you into real fear; he wants your love. Compliant, not traumatized. If you ever truly recoiled, he’d pull back, because the chase is over, and he’s far too selfish to risk losing what he’s finally claimed, heart included.
* After everything, Shiryu’s aftercare is minimal, sometimes non-existent. At most, he might toss a blanket over you before lighting another cigar and watching you in silence. He takes a moment to admire the aftermath with predatory delight. Your flushed skin, his marks and the way you look spent.
* Shiryu may not coddle you, but he watches over you obsessively. Even as you drift to sleep, you will know his eyes will never stray from you far. He sleeps little; rarely more than three hours a night, always alert, guarding what’s his with the vigilance of a deadly predator. His protection is suffocating, absolute and... uniquely warm here, somewhat reminiscent of the relentless Head Jailer he once was.
* Sometimes, when he leaves your shared space, he’ll leave some trace- the lingering smell of his cigar, a new bite or bruise to remember him by. He makes sure you’re never allowed to forget who you belong to, even when he’s not physically in the room.
* Bonus point: If Shiryu ever acquires the Suke Suke no Mi, he rarely uses his invisibility during sex. He’d much rather you see him, watch your reactions, and know exactly who is taking you apart. Still, it’s a kink he might explore every once in a while. On rare occasions, he’ll use his invisibility to surprise you, appearing suddenly to pin you down, or to whisper filthy promises right near your ear before making himself visible again. More often, he uses this power outside the bedroom, lurking unseen to keep you on edge, or, sometimes, just to indulge his perverted side. He'll sometimes watch you undress or change, entirely invisible, savoring every second without you ever knowing he's there. It's less about the sex and more about knowing that he can, and the rush it gives him. At the end of the day, he’ll always remind you that you’re never truly alone anymore. Though… Depending on when your paths cross, there’s a high chance he’ll never have eaten the fruit at all, given how quickly he’d betray Blackbeard’s crew the moment his obsession takes hold.
