in light of recent events i'd like to suggest two positive options that the emma plotline can go into: either 1- dana finds her, steps in and gets to have a full-circle moment since she was assaulted in S1 by a patient, or 2- joy steps in and she rightfully fucking punches the guy, with her getting to take care of emma like she did when joy got her blood drawn.
also can we talk about how robby didn't want to do shit for the woman detained by ICE even tho mckay keep insisting in helping (a recurring theme here) and only decided to actually only help when jessie was taken and help him only?????
THEY GOT MY BOY JESSE NOOOOOOOO

the samira-joy dka insurance case is so important to me. samira is so rigidly by the book and she struggles to do things outside of convention. to her, there is only one right way to do things (robot girl behavior). but the problem arises as she’s trying to use the system to reform the system; she trusts the thing she knows doesn’t work. so joy speaking up upsets The Way Things Have To Be Done, both socially and practice wise, and she can’t get her head around that. although she lost her dad, i don’t think she’s ever struggled with money (ex: her former habit of ordering too many costly tests) so a circumvention method such as admitting to med surg wouldn’t cross her mind.
and then there’s joy. hates when people die, hates insurance companies, hates the whole system. sees simple causes and simple solutions, convention be damned. i think she’d do great in emergency medicine if she wanted to be there, especially in chairs/triage where she can treat em and street em.
so when they meet here, two women coming from loss and ending up in the same place with opposing approaches, they get to spark this beautiful moment. this is literally the most joy has spoken to anyone yet, and she’s probably seen samira the least because despite her one-trackness, samira is an unashamed learner and will always speak up when she was wrong. i want them to have many more cases together and i want them to learn from each other because they make a really strong team. samira is the perfect ‘attending’ for joy with robby checked the hell out and al-hashimi’s love of ambition. samira provides space and encouragement and fallibility, which makes her more human, more safe for vulnerability. i don’t think joy would’ve spoken about her grandma if samira wasn’t as kind as she is.
