This is the late Roberto Burle Marx, a Brazilian landscape architect, botanist, designer and artist.  I have a species of Philodendron named after him – I don’t believe it’s been identified, it’s simply referred to as Philodendron “Burle Marx” and, if I understand the story, they were taking inventory of his property and gardens after he died, and found this smaller growing philodendron he had used as an edging plant that no one had ever really seen before.  It was then named after him.  Not to be mistaken by another plant with his moniker, Philodendron “Burle Marx Fantasy.”
