The other half-elf’s face just made him confused, and the sudden emptiness of his arm made Vax turn towards his bed fellow with a raised brow. Who was this person, this woman that was so friendly with the other? She didn’t seem familiar, at least he would have liked to remember her. Who could forget a face like hers, and the antlers definitely seemed like a feature that he would have at least possibly remembered. But, there was nothing. No flick of a memory in his head nor a hint of recognition. The name…made him curious as he shook his head.
‘ sorry, but no. she seems familiar, but it could have been a passing by or something. ‘
He turned towards the other, inclining his head towards her. With the cloak and the circlet on her head, she had to be someone important. A chief of a druid tribe, maybe? Her face was a little rough to look at now, with the fear and shock across it. If she did in fact know him, then it was someone Vax had helped before.
‘ vax’ildan is my name. and you are…keyleth, yes? a pleasure to meet you. ‘

No, no…that was impossible. The lack of recognition on his face stung worse than any blade. He didn’t know her? Nothing, after all these years?
Still pale, Keyleth finally seemed to ground herself, remembering to feel the dirt beneath her feet. The air in her lungs. Her gut still twisted and turned, her heart racing as seemingly old scars tore themselves open inside her.
“You don’t…you don’t know who I am?” She asked softly, her voice still shaking. Her hand closed into a soft fist; she so desperately wanted to reach for him. To touch him. Hold him again. She knew that if she could…she would feel whole again.
“Vax, it’s me. It’s…it’s Kiki.” Keyleth bit her lip. The fond nickname Vax had given her all those years ago sounded foreign on her tongue. It probably wouldn’t jog his memory, but she could hope.
“You were…we were in Vox Machina. Together. Don’t you…remember?”

Mollymauk floundered helplessly for a moment, unable to find his voice as it was lost within the apparently one-sided reunion between the two half-elves. What was happening? He knew about Vax’s lack of memories, it was something they had in common, something they had bonded over, but he had never expected to actually meet someone from the other man’s past.
Which had been foolish as all hell, to be honest. He really needed to start thinking ahead. Perhaps then, he wouldn’t be standing there like an idiot, watching a friend’s world crash down around her. He felt his heart wrench at the agony in Keyleth’s face and the...complete lack of recognition in Vax’ildan’s.
Together. They were together. They are together. Did she mean it as in...together? The look in her eyes said she did.
‘Gods, Molly what have you stepped in this time?’
“Ahh- Um-” The lavender tiefling took a step towards the both of them, wringing his hands in the hem of one of his trailing sleeves as red eyes flitted from Keyleth, to Vax, and back again. He gave a nod in the direction of the Leaky Tap and tried to swallow his own nerves for the sake of the other two. “I...Perhaps we should find an inn. we could all sit down while you...talk. I think we might really need it.”
