Mina was reared by an introverted mortician father and her extroverted socialite mother. She was always terribly close with her father who taught her to respect and understand death rather than fear it. He had a deep sense for the occult, having handled strange cases before in his practice and he passed that on to his only child.

Mina was never close with her mother as the expectations and desires that she had for a child wildly differed from her husband's. He wanted a child he could help grow and learn, she wanted one to mold in her likeness. While Mina craved understanding and friendship from her peers she was always too odd, too eccentric, her interests macabre and her strange even despite her bubbly personality.

Her thirst for knowledge has never and will never be slaked and while Mina desires connection now that her beloved father has passed on, she can't help but stick herself in situations that are anything but average.

Mina has moved to Eden Ros to study strange phenomena and supernatural pathology cases. She arrived alone aside from her delightful black Great Dane Zerberus, who was trained from puppyhood to be emotional and physical support as Mina struggles chronic migraines and issues with overstimulation and the like.

Mina was offered a smile in return, Metzli's features softened enough for it to be more than a quiet and subtle lift. No teeth, but it certainly met their eyes in a rare way. They still thought the night was mostly Mina's fault despite their concession, but perhaps friendship was compromise rather than a rigid wall or strong-arming one's opinion over another's.

Mina fought back with logic and emotion, humbling Metzli and catering to their need for genuine reasoning. In her own way, that was a compromise. In another, a lesson without a dark room and an iron fist. Metzli found themself grateful for their newfound knowledge, smile remaining as they grabbed their shirt and headed to the door.

"I'll text you. Bye Zerberus." They waved, taking a few steps down the stairs then looking back at Mina. "Try not to get distracted by thoughts of my very nice muscles. I'll be expecting a prompt reply." Metzli chuckled, shaking their head at themself. "Look at what you've done to me. I'm making jokes." They rolled their eyes and strolled down to their car, a little annoyed and relieved at how easy Mina had made it to soften.

It sounded simple but sad in her head that she was just happy to have a friend. Having to teach someone how to be a friend when she had so little true experience herself felt somewhat like the blind leading the blind. But Mina knew what it felt like in her body when she tried to make things easier for someone else and what it felt like to be treated both well and poorly.

With how Metzli was learning from her, it made her feel a bit like she could trust her instincts more.

Even though she flushed at their comment, she was able to think more quickly this time and fired back.

"I hope it will not be difficult for you to type with such hulking muscles." She cooed out the words with a playful little look.

"Just as I will do my level best to be prompt in replying with the strain of such voluptuous breasts weighing me down." She called out after them, giving Metzli a shit-eating little grin and a sunny little wave, feeling delighted that even if they both were learning how to joke and tease with one another... it was still happening.

Mina watched them go, leaning against the doorframe until they were in their car before she shut the door behind herself.

"You're beautiful and I have no doubt you'd be incredible in bed, but I don't think about intimacy, and when I do, I refrain from it." This was the part that was most difficult when it came to dates. Except that moment with Mina was worse because she wasn't a date. She was a friend.

Metzli actually enjoyed romance. They watched plenty of movies on the topic, but any attempt to mimic those momentous crescendos fell flat. Or rather, they didn't fall at all. Any reach from Metzli was like catching yourself at the last second instead of feeling that roll of your stomach in the plunge.

There was no epic climax. Just a note cut short, unsatisfied when a proclamation of hope of a future that went unanswered. That was the one and only time they'd ever ventured close to what they'd seen in poetry and film. With nothing but their mind to reciprocate with, that connection was cut short. They couldn't see past their own monster, and they knew it was better that way.

Desite how Metzli liked to be useful, how they could be useful right then and provide the pleasure they'd robbed Mina, that spelled complications, didn't it? "We will watch the movie next time," They promised, expression as neutral as it always is, with no sign of upset as they offered Mina a handshake of farewell. "And hopefully I don't rough up another date before you get a chance to." They quirked a brow, for once making a playful jab.

That made sense. Mina knew plenty of people who were like that and even her own love life held notes of never fully letting her guard down. She had never been concerned about bringing someone back here on the rare occasions that she did instead of finding common ground, because she knew that if something bad were to happen she could handle herself.

But Metzli's rejection wasn't a bad thing. It was a kind thing. Something merciful. Maybe she really did need to just treat them like she would any other friend.

If they hadn't ever been one, maybe she should focus on that element instead of getting distracted and ending up in another orbit entirely.

So she took the offered hand, gave it a squeeze and a firm shake with a grateful smile.

The playful jab met with a gentle laugh and a nod.

"Next time. I uh will be at the precinct for most of the week next week. I know you are busy but if you have any spare time to check in on Zerbie, I know he'd appreciate your company. You two have become quite the best friends." She moved to walk them to the door.

"Oh." The vampire looked confused, taking a glance at themself and then back to Mina, shrugging. "Is that all?" Metzli knew they were attractive. They'd never struggled in regards to beauty.

Their lack of intimacy didn't stem from having little confidence nor general attraction from others. It was their social disposition and their inability to assimilate to the standards set for normal interactions. The moment Metzli opened their mouth, people were put off. And if they kept it shut, the result was the same.

Furthermore, Metzli rarely craved pleasure. As much fun as it was, if it was out of sight, it was out of mind. That caused a bit of trouble for them in regards to dates. They didn't have the practice to know what to do in the lead up, all experience laying in the act of sex itself.

So when Mina presented her attraction to Metzli, all they could do was ask, "Do you want to touch them or something?" They saw no reason for that to be wrong. They didn't even realize someone could be embarrassed for expressing what Mina had.

There was no laughter or jabs at her expense. Just a genuine question, followed by Metzli closing the distance for their friend to explore.

Briefly she wondered if she could just walk out into the wilderness right now and never return. Maybe she could go back to those cliffs at the bay and pitch herself off of them? That might be faster and less painful than whatever the fuck was happening right now.

Metzli did not tease her, nor did they really have much of an opinion at all. They were simply surprised that she might be embarrassed at all and asked if she wanted to touch them.

It was becoming increasingly clear that either Metzli did not feel attraction at all, or she was not interested in Mina that way.

The dawning of this helped ease a little of her own mortification and it instead shifted into a bit of sheepishness that she'd been so focused on them when they were not even in the same headspace.

That was... she could survive that.

"Nein. Nein, I think I am okay. Danke." She moved a hand through her hair instead and took a bit of a breath to let it all go.

"I wish I had a shirt that might fit you better but we can always watch the movie some other time I suppose."

"The shirt isn't going to stain." Beer didn't have that power against a black shirt, thankfully. "I'll just let it dry. I can wash it at home." Metzli made their way to Mina's bedroom, following the sound of her footsteps. They leaned against the doorframe, hand at their hip.

"Thank you." Metzli took the garment and gave a once over, realizing quickly it may be too small. "Um," They began, clamping their mouth shut instead so they could at least attempt to put the hoodie on.

"Nevermind. Anyway--we can just watch the movie next time." Metzli slipped their limbs into the arm holes and got their head through the opening, but their shoulders were a bit too wide for the hoodie to fit comfortably. Accepting defeat, they wriggled out of it, shaking their head as they handed it back to Mina.

"I think it's best I go." One look at their friend was all they needed to confirm that, and they returned to the kitchen to grab their shirt. Your face is flushed and I've stressed you a lot tonight. I imagine one of your migraines may be coming on."

It was very difficult to think right now but she hadn't wanted to chase them off. She'd been hopeful that maybe she could calm herself down enough that they could watch the movie but it was apparent that her lack of chill had made Metzli somewhat uncomfortable.

Them trying on the too small garment and having to take it back off just as quickly only made that all worse.

Not even one of her date's hoodies had fit them and that was deeply hard to ignore.

"Es tut mir leid Metzli. Nein I am not having a migraine and you are not stressing me out." Mina took a deep breath and shook her head a little.

"My date ended very abruptly and it was...I was very engaged in it and then you are walking shirtless around my house and it is distracting. It is not bad, just... you have very nice muscles." She blurted, feeling mildly mortified and rubbing a little at the bridge of her nose.

Explaining this was no less embarrassing either.

Metzli wanted to prod further, to ask why Mina was repeating their words the way she was, but they didn't. Instead, they got up and walked past the laundry room to get to the kitchen, finishing their beer along the way. At least, they attempted to.

One small trip had them missing their mouth and spilling the last of the contents onto their shirt. With a frustrated groan, Metzli threw away the bottle and removed their top, wringing it over the sink. There was no need for modesty at this point.

"Do you have an oversized shirt anywhere?" Surely one of Mina's conquests had left something. If not, then they'd just need to leave without enjoying a movie. Metzli had wanted to show Mina the classic Rambo, but they couldn't imagine their friend would appreciate them being half nude.

"I spilled some beer on myself." They huffed, flattening the shirt over the edge of the sink. "Or I'll just go. I've taken up enough of your time."

"A shirt?" Her voice called out from the living room.

"Ja! I am sure I have something that could be fitting you."

She manged to grab a pair of underwear and sleep shorts from the dryer, shoving on a camisole to at least cover her mostly so she could move from room to room.

"If you are wanting, I can throw your shirt in the waschmaschine so it does not stain?" Mina was going to try her best to play it cool this time even though they were shirtless in her home.

How did one person get such perfect muscles?

What would it feel like to have her legs thrown over those shoulders-

Focus Mina.

"Nein. You have been meaning to show me a film ja? Stay for that at least." She said and quickly made her way to her bedroom to grab a pullover for herself and a hoodie or something she'd stolen from a date for them to wear.

When she returned, she held it out to them to take and slipped her own on over her head. Even though that feeling of ridiculousness had not faded.

Each act of Mina's kindness unsettled them further, gnawing at the foundation of their instincts. A quiet intensity followed after, Metzli feeling puzzled but never showing it on their face. Not only was Mina meeting them where they wanted her to, but she wanted them to remain as they were.

A strange concept. A twisted one, barbed with hope. Surely, in their mind, it couldn't be a permanent one they should get used to.

At Mina's sound, Metzli's posture straightened and they looked her way to assess, oblivious as to why she'd reacted the way she did. "What?" They looked behind themself and then back to Mina, followed by a glance over at Zerberus. His ears were perked, but he settled back to laying down.

"What a terrible assumption. Mine was much more logical." They rolled their eyes, taking another sip. "You'll find another partner. I have found that debauchery cares little about infidelity, and rumors die as long as they're starved. Don't worry too much about it."

Metzli looked around, surprised by her sound and seemingly unsure what had just happened. They had little idea how what they had said could have unseated her the way it did and Mina was trying very hard not to laugh.

"Well I am glad you believe my... voluptuous breasts could make people forget such things." It felt ridiculous to say and she'd really never even considered that someone could use that phrasing to describe them.

This was not helping with any of the frustration from being cut off from pleasure earlier.

Mina didn't really know what to make of any of what Metzli said. She hoped they were right but it might be best to lay low for now regardless. Even if they didn't assume such things... her dog had bitten Nico's ass pretty hard.

"Did you want to stay for television?" She called, finally ducking behind the door of the laundry room to strip out of her going out clothes and put on something comfortable and clean.

"I will only concede if the fault is 55 percent mine and 45 percent yours." They sucked their teeth with a dry chuckle. "I'm afraid you'll see my attitude again. There are much too many holes in my experiences for me to react properly."

If push came to shove though, Metzli figured they could always compel Mina to leave them alone and end the friendship. They preferred to not use that ability, but they were still adamant that they knew better. For the time being, they'd hold off.

"They don't sound like any fun then." Metzli took the beer and flicked off the cap, making their way over to the couch to plop down. "Lots of people like biting in the bedroom. And considering those voluptuous breasts you have, they were stupid to not hear the explanation before leaving." There was no humor or interest in their tone. It was more like they were speaking fact.

"I can deal with 45 percent to your 55. It is only logical." It was easy to giggle back a little bit now that the tension in her chest had eased from a vice grip to a gentle ache.

"Ja, well I never said no more attitude at all. I do not think you would be you without it." She disposed of the cap and took a deep sip from her bottle before following them into the living room to settle on the couch.

It was easy to remember that her underwear had ended up somewhere in the bedroom as well and now sitting down in her skirt completely without undergarments was relatively uncomfortable.

So she set the beer down and wandered over to the laundry room instead. She'd done a load recently so there was likely something comfortable she could slip into instead... maybe even take a moment to clean up the mess between her legs she'd left unattended in the scuffle.

It was only on her way there that she heard what they'd said, grateful she hadn't been sipping her drink as she made a noise of surprise and whipped around to look at them. Her cheeks were beet red and she looked at them with wide eyes and a surprised smile.

"Well...not that kind of biting and I... well I do not believe they wanted to end up in the middle of a lover's quarrel." She admitted and rubbed her hand over her face a little knowing they might not know what she meant.

"They probably were assuming you were my partner and were wanting to kill them cause I brought them home. It was why I was partially upset cause they will probably be telling other people that they think that."

"Okay." Metzli backed away, staring through Mina. She was on the verge of another wound, but they understood the need for a little pain. Sometimes when they felt like they'd lose control, they bit themself. It wasn't just a habit married to offering healing.

"In me?" The vampire let out a laugh, far realer than everything that'd come out of them before. There was no point in putting any faith in them. Metzli could supply it for themself, just as they did everything else.

Still shaking their head from their laugh, Metzli arched a brow. "Are we better? Or should I elaborate further why you made a mistake?" They sighed, thinking back to the stranger they'd nearly killed. "Unless you'd prefer I apologize to your coitus partner too?"

Even if Metzli thought it ridiculous, Mina would not change her mind. There was something about them that was so deeply familiar. Someone who had gone through great pain and loss because they were deemed less than by those around them.

Strange.

Bad.

Wrong.

Whatever Metzli had gone through that led them to rid of their heart, did she really have any authority to say that she blamed them? Even if she did not know... she could infer it had been bad.

"We will be better as long as you don't take that attitude with me. I still stand by I forgot to text and that was my only crime." She remarked, folding her arms and sniffing a little with annoyance.

When they brought up her date though, she groaned.

"No. I don't believe I will be seeing Nico ever again and if I do, they will probably run the other way. I'm certain they are having the wrong idea and they will also be sehr angry about Zerbie biting their ass." Mina sighed and headed for the fridge, grabbing a beer for herself and handing another one out to Metzli.

"... you were correct though I am supposing. We are even." She flushed.

Metzli was stunned into silence at Mina's admission, an old will they didn't understand stinging their eyes uncomfortably. Scrubbing at their face, they discovered a few stray tears welling on their lids.

Their hand trembled, and the tear cascaded down their palm, leaving them with only confusion. They felt nothing and their body still reacted? Blinking several times, Metzli cleared their throat and took an internal scan.

Still, nothing. When was the last time Metzli had cried anyway? Thinking back, they could recall it. A private moment with Eloy as he explained the next part of their journey as his fledgling.

As a catholic man himself, he'd asked them what their version of heaven or hell was. Everyone had one, of course, but having lived their life, Metzli only said, hell is here. I have no heaven. Then, they cried on that makeshift surgery table knowing they'd never be worthy of shaping one themself, and they wept until the final cut was made to remove their heart.

So why cry now? How?

With another breath, much of Metzli's nerves subsided, but their confusion raised again. One look at Mina presented no obvious signs of injury. "You're bleeding," They said, wasting no time in biting their wrist and offering it over to their friend. If they were still allowed to call her that. "You have too much faith in me, I think."

Mina knew intimately all the times and reasons she had been asked or all but asked for an apology. Very few times had it been due to actual harm causing. It was often asking her to apologize for her very nature. For being someone or something that people could not understand or found distasteful.

Silently, she wondered how many times Metzli had been asked to do the very same.

How many people had asked them to apologize for their nature or to simply cease to be that thing. Mina caught the tears shining in their eyes but she did not draw attention to them, not wanting to cause any more distress.

They did not need to feel strange or ashamed for whatever was happening inside of them right now.

Mina was doing her best to soothe herself, stroking Zerbie's head with one hand while the other still dug nails into her palm for some counter-pressure and pain. It usually helped.

She lifted her head as they bit their wrist and she shook her head waving her hand with half-moon marks to signal it was okay.

"I bit my tongue. It will stop soon... Besides, I do not think I should be drinking any more of your blood." She admitted, knowing that how it had helped her before was too deep an allure.

That didn't need to be on offer for small injuries like this.

"...I don't think I have too much faith in you." She finally spoke again after a moment of quiet.

"I think most people have had too little."

"I..." Metzli shrugged, going quiet to think and figure out what they were really feeling. Frustration, yes. Stress? Perhaps. Deeper, there was anxiety, but it was so faint that Metzli wasn't sure it could count as real. They pinched the bridge of their nose and shook their head, tugging their hair a bit harder.

"I hurt you."

That did deserve an apology, even if Metzli still thought it was mostly Mina's fault. But friends didn't hurt friends, and they'd agreed to be one to her. Metzli never went back on their word. That would make them a liar.

"Then, I'm sorry." They were sorry a lot around Mina. That wasn't very sustainable for a friendship, was it? Not if they couldn't really mean it either. What did an apology mean from a heartless beast?

"I don't want to hurt you, and I can't care about you, but...but I no longer have my sire. I don't understand either, but I can't be the person he made anymore, so I'm trying to find what I am now. Could I really change and put my heart back in? Sure. But that's just...that person is long dead and no one wanted them before. At least this way, I'm still useful and my mind can pick up the slack."

It felt pitiful and stupid to have to ask for an apology when she knew that Metzli could not even fully comprehend what had gone wrong. They could not really be sorry, just as they could not care for her.

And she felt stupid for asking them to be something that they weren't.

Her tongue was still fucking bleeding and she sucked on it a little to help quell that while she kept one hand on top of Zerbie's head. Nico was probably going to go tell all their friends that her insane partner had shown up at the house and her dog had nearly mauled them.

Anyone who knew them was going to be warned away from crawling into Mina's bed. She'd be labeled a homewrecker.

Her free hand went to the part of her neck that was still bruised and she rubbed it gently as she listened, feeling a slight throb somewhere in her skull. She needed to stop fucking getting upset around them.

It was making her feel weak.

She shook her head a little and wiped at her eyes, grateful the tears hadn't fallen. Maybe it was her own fault for practically begging them to be friends.

If they couldn't care, why were they even here?

"I don't think you have bad intentions and if ask for an apology it's because of that. It's because I don't think you're doing anything but trying your best and my asking you to acknowledge that you hurt me is me respecting you enough to know you can be better... if I thought you were incapable of understanding, I just wouldn't try at all."

"This is stupid." Metzli rolled their eyes with a frustrated huff. They only gave Mina a shrug, clearly annoyed with the situation presented between them. What wasn't clear enough for her?

"I told you I don't know how to be a friend, Mina. www.reddit.com/r/AskWomenOver30/ didn't exactly present many good examples for me to work with." None of them had the perspective of a nearly two century old vampire that had no idea how to make connections. They had to force their experience into the small wedges they could find.

"Friends help and protect, though. That's what it said. This is how I protect. This is what I'm good at." They bit the inside of their cheek and snatched their beer back up, downing the rest of it.

"I don't care about you. I can't. All I have are these stupid websites and books, and even then, clearly I don't know how to interpret them." They growled quietly to themself, growing so frustrated with their confusion that they could feel the ants begin to crawl.

Overwhelmed, Metzli tossed the empty bottle into the trash, breath picking up and chest tightening. "Why do I have to apologize for doing what I know? Or for not knowing things? No one ever apologized to me for not--" Metzli blinked with a hard swallow, clamping their mouth shut. "Whatever." They tensed their hand through their hair, tugging. "Whatever."

"My feelings are not stupid." Mina's voice got small and tight for a moment, fingernails digging a little bit into her palms as the frustration and hurt mounted to a fever pitch.

She'd been doing her best in the last few years of her life to be as upfront and clear as she possibly could with people when they hurt her. It had taken time for her to accept the fact that she was a person too and she deserved the same respect she gave other people. If she could upset people without meaning to and have to apologize and change her behavior, other people should be held to the same expectation.

Her mouth stayed shut as they mentioned the website they'd gone to for advice and explained that they could only do what they knew and even that was limited.

"Friends do help and protect and I am appreciative of you for helping but you confuse me so much." Her voice was still tight and shaky, goddammit.

"You don't care about me and yet you tried to protect me. You can't admit fault but you can feel satisfaction when I do. It doesn't... I don't understand."

Zerberus slinked into the room, sensing the distress and nudging at Mina's hip. He was worried she was heading into meltdown territory.

"I don't want you to apologize for not knowing or for doing what you know. I wanted you to apologize for not taking responsibility for your actions and how they affected me. Everyone should do that even if most people don't. I don't want you to stop being you but I care about if I hurt you... so I would hope you would care about that too."

She bit her tongue as they both clearly buzzed with stress and overwhelm.

Desperately she wanted to tell them to forget it and that she was being oversensitive and it wasn't like they had a heart with which to feel any of what she was asking anyway. But she held her tongue

Tasting copper as she bit just a little too hard.

"Nevermind." She finally relented, swallowing the little bit of blood and her pride at the same time. Maybe she was being ridiculous.

"It's your fault they got hurt. If I had known you would be enjoying coitus with someone, then I wouldn't have had to assume the worst." That seemed pretty plain and simple to Metzli. What didn't was the fact that Mina was so upset at them.

"I have enjoyed beer here before, and I figured since you accepted fault that we would just move on and partake in your television. Maybe even share a laugh at how we have both seen each other's chests now." The vampire blinked, brows stitched together in confusion. Then, their eyes narrowed with a hint of anger.

"Why should I apologize? I did nothing wrong here." Taking another sip, Metzli placed the bottle down to plant their hand on their hip. "My mistake was your fault. How was I supposed to know you enjoyed coitus? I often forget the act exists."

Her brow furrowed as pain and anger flared deep in her chest, gaze narrowed in on Metzli as if they simply couldn't believe what they were hearing. Her fault that they got hurt? She had no idea that Metzli would react that way, shame and upset were bubbling deeply in her gut and she could feel tears stinging behind her eyes.

"I thought you might have already brought Zerbie home and I was a little busy! I did not have time to be sending you a message. I was not the one who hurt them." She said, trying to keep any upset tears at bay.

"And I was not accepting full fault. I was apologizing for not notifying you, but you did not apologize for maiming my date or barging in like that." She felt like the entire room was fucking spinning.

What was going on here? How could someone have such little empathy when they had clearly cared enough to save her from whatever they thought was happening.

"Well I am liking sex and I did not believe I needed to be letting you know that fact. How was I to know you'd think they were attacking me?" Mina looked anywhere but at them, really doing her best not to be so vulnerable.

Zerberus whined and Metzli knelt down to soothe the poor boy. He'd taken their lead and now he was facing the consequences that they'd caused. He was innocent in all of this, and Metzli wouldn't let him take any blame.

Especially when it was mostly on Mina.

"Yes, you should have." They said firmly, a little too cold for someone who deserved some chastising. Turning around, there was a scowl on Metzli's face, fist curled tightly.

"What other method should I have tried when I hear danger? Ask questions first? Wait for you to get hurt and then act?" Metzli huffed, circling around the room and finding their way back out to the kitchen. They muttered, "At least now we're even," Opening the fridge to snag a beer, they yanked the bottle cap off and took a drink.

"I did warn you that I didn't know who to be a friend, didn't I? Perhaps this ends here."

It felt, very suddenly, like Mina was losing her fucking mind.

How was Metzli mad at her for this? How could they possibly be scowling and cold towards her when they had been the one to not only walk in on her in a compromising position, they'd grabbed her date by the throat? Was she high? Had she had too much to drink tonight?

"Nein. Excuse me. You do not get to scold me for doing what I like in my own house, especially after nearly strangling my date, and then get to walk around MY HOUSE like you own it."

Mina stood in the doorway of the kitchen, flabbergasted as she watched them sipping a beer from her fridge.

What in the fuck was going on?

"I am grateful you were concerned enough to act. And what are you meaning that we are even? What is happening right now?" She looked deeply confused and quite a bit hurt.

Especially when they said that maybe the friendship should end here.

"I did not say that. But friends also hold each other accountable when they make a mistake and I apologized for my end, you did not!"

Metzli was confused, standing completely still and staring through Mina while the person in their grasp struggled roughly against what seemed like stone. When Mina yelled at them next, and with Zerberus's mouth free of cheek, the vampire moved from their statuesque state, taking another frozen pose, hand lamely at their side. It trembled idly while they continued to stare for a few moments before thinking better.

Turning around, Metzli listened to someone depart, but one small whiff let them know Mina remained in the room. Her heart was racing. Her heart was racing and it was all their fault. Why did they even attack anyway? No heart meant they couldn't truly care. So it had to be the monster.

Everything Eloy had placed inside them was still there. All they needed was a reason for it to come out. They were no friend of Mina's. They were no friend to anyone. They were no friend at all. What made them think they could be? Moving across the world didn't change who Metzli was. It only gave them a new place to cause pain and suffering.

"I thought...you were in danger." Metzli finally said, voice tight but steady. "So I acted accordingly."

Her heart was pounding and she stared off at the door that her date had exited out of. Zerberus had his head hunched over a little bit in shame, letting out a quiet whine as he shuffled a little closer to where Metzli stood.

Mina sighed a little, shoulders slumping even with her arms still folded so she wasn't showing too much off. Even though it was likely the vampire had already seen pretty much everything up top at least.

"It's okay mein lieber." She cooed to her dog, wanting him to know he wasn't in trouble. Though she hoped that she could at least apologize to her date... even if that seemed unlikely.

It probably looked from the outside like she'd been cheating on a partner and she hoped very much that word did not travel in that fashion. Would make it even harder to connect with people around this city.

"Ja, I am aware that was likely the case." She said softly, still flushed as she looked around to find something to put on. Turning away from Metzli once she found something.

The lacy bra with the bat pattern on the back was discarded and she slipped the black sweater on, deciding not to fiddle with putting the undergarment back on right now.

"I am not angry... I should've warned you I had brought someone home but I wasn't really thinking. I appreciate your instinct even if the method was... rough."

She was more worried about the aftermath.

Teagan let out a heady breath, shaky with a groan attached to the end of it. Beneath her lay Mina–her flushed face whimpering beautifully. She grinned widely, panting as her body settled from her climax.

It didn't make her feel any better, and in the middle of sex, she didn't feel anything at all. Now though, she felt the emptiness fester into a weighty guilt, coiling tightly around her throat and stinging her eyes as she looked at Mina. How long could she enjoy her body and mouth before that thing in her head started questioning?

“You look so sweet,” Teagan breathed, rolling over to lay next to her. “Stay for dinner.” It wasn't a firm command but a gentle request. If anything was developing, she'd need to appease it just a tad so she could push back later. "I'll cook."

It wasn't typical that she repeated a partner.

Mina had learned a long time ago that intimate attachments typically left her feeling confused, hurt, or equal measures of both. It almost always ended poorly in one way or another, so Mina simply didn't really date.

That didn't mean she denied herself pleasure and excitement, but it was usually limited to one lovely night and that was that.

It was usually enough of her quirkiness to keep people engaged without her ultimately putting them off or boring them in some way and not enough for her to get too attached and break her own heart.

While she'd been burned in the friendship capacity too, that heartbreak was one she couldn't cut herself off from entirely, even when it could hurt worse than any rejection from a romantic entanglement ever had. It was a suffering she was willing to endure if it meant that she'd someday have people around her who wanted to understand her and still stick around.

So whatever this was with Teagan was becoming increasingly confusing.

It was recurring nights but with enough detachment to keep a real friendship from forming, working in its own category completely. And Mina didn't really know what to make of it.

Though she couldn't really think much at all at the moment with all the blood in her head completely gone.

"You look so sweet."

Was that a compliment or a patronization?

It was hard to tell when her thighs were still quivering.

And Teagan was asking her to stay for dinner...

"Dinner? We don't usually eat together that way." She said with an airy little laugh as she pulled the covers up around herself to catch her breath.

Zerberus was always happy to venture out of the house with Metzli. They tended to take long routes with winding roads and a fast pace. On top of that, the two of them took hours to go back home. Especially for that day.

Both Metzli and Zerberus had enjoyed the time they'd spent growing lost in the woods. So by the time they decided to make their way back home, the path felt strange. When they grew closer to the town house, it felt that much heavier.

"We're back," Metzli called to Mina, noticing there was no reply. Which was strange because they knew when Mina would be home. That made Metzli bristle, and they listened carefully for any danger. That's when they heard her frantic breath, and they sprinted forward to her bedroom. Zerberus followed suit, trusting Metzli to know the difference between fun and danger.

He barked viciously and lunged, teeth latching onto Mina's date before anyone could react. Meanwhile, Metzli gripped his throat, growling like a feral beast who'd caught an enemy. "Are you okay?" They asked, watching Zerberus tighten his bite as they adjusted their hold. "I have you."

If she hadn't been so distracted with the hand up her bare thigh and the teeth on her neck, she would've heard the voice down the hall.

But she hadn't and now Zerberus had a chunk of her date's backside in his mouth and Metzli's hand was around their throat.

Her eyes were wide and the black lace of her bra had already been unclasped in the front and she couldn't see where he'd thrown her shirt. So completely exposed above the waist aside from the bra still hanging on barely by both shoulder straps while not leaving anything to the imagination, she tried to get her bearings.

"Scheiße! Zerberus. Nein. Halt. Aus!" Mina commanded, urging him to stop and let go of the poor person she'd dared to bring home. It seemed to take him a moment to see if the threat was truly all gone, especially seeing as Metzli still had the person by their throat.

"You too! Let go."

Mina gave an apologetic look to her date who was clearly both freaked out and in pain, but she could barely even get a word out before they were grabbing the jacket they'd tossed off and hightailing it out of there.

So she was stood there, neck mottled with bruises and arms crossed over her chest, staring at Metzli and her dog with a look that simply said 'explain'.
