The FDA announced it will limit access to Covid-19 vaccines going forward to people 65 and older and others at high risk of serious illness
hey! we thought this might be coming and here it is. and it sucks! mass vaccination is one of our best tools at preventing the spread of COVID. public comment is open until 11:59 PM EDT on the 23rd of May.

Do you want your healthcare workers and first responders to be able to get covid vaccines so they don't give you covid when you see them and so they're not themselves sick and needing sick days to recover, leaving healthcare and public services facilities short staffed? I want a fully staffed hospital, fire station, police station, etc.
Do you want public servants like utility workers and agency staff and park rangers to be able to get vaccinated against covid so they're not sick instead of fixing our roads and bridges and sewers and power grid and giving us access to public resources like public benefits and public parks? I want those fully staffed too.
Do you want teachers and childcare workers to be able to get covid vaccines so they don't get such e and need sick days and so they don't get sick from all the kids they see? I want a fully staffed school and fully staffed daycare.
Do you want families with little kids who weren't old enough to get a covid vaccine to access boosters for the older kids and the parents to help keep the little kids safe? I don't want to give my baby cousin covid at his birthday party.
Do you have any immune compromised people in your extended family? Cancer patients? Dialysis patients? Organ transplant recipients? I don't want to kill them.
This is a big fucking problem. Tell the FDA that this will negatively affect you. Public comments, whether under your name or anonymously, must be considered by the FDA. Get your comments in by May 23 at 11:59pm Eastern.
And call your Congressional representatives at
Spend 5 minutes. Make 5 calls. Make your voice heard.

The covid vaccine has been proven safe and effective by scientists around the world, including in the United States. I am not elderly or immune compromised, so under this proposed rule, I will not be able to access the covid vaccine.
I want access to the covid vaccine because I [choose as applicable]
Don't want to miss school because I got sick with covid so I want to get the vaccine to help me stay healthy
Don't want to miss work because I got sick with covid [and I can't afford to miss work because I don't have paid sick leave or have limited paid sick leave] so I want to get the vaccine to help me stay healthy
Don't want to get sick with covid because I have childcare/eldercare responsibilities so I want to get the vaccine to help me stay healthy
Don't want to get sick with covid because I/my partner am/is hoping to become pregnant in the next year and covid would damage my/her health during the pregnancy
Have family members who are [choose: elderly /cancer patients /dialysis patients /immune compromised /too young to be vaccinated] and I want to protect them from covid by getting vaccinated myself
Want healthcare workers, essential workers, scientists, and first responders to be able to choose to get vaccinated so they can better protect themselves from covid and from accidentally spreading covid in our community and not transmitting covid when my family needs health care
Want teachers and childcare workers to be able to get vaccinated so that they don't get covid and don't accidentally spread it to children who can't get vaccinated, and so they don't have to miss work because they are sick and instead the schools have to find substitute teachers
Want my health insurance to pay for my vaccination, which is less likely if the FDA changes to the proposed rule, instead of me paying for it out of pocket

I strongly oppose the proposed rule in Docket No. FDA-2025-N-1146. I should be able to choose the safe and effective covid vaccine for myself so I can protect myself and people I care about.

I like the template above (thank you for it), but I changed every use of COVID with COVID-19 (and it also should be capitalized) specifically to fall in line with the wording of this regulation, but I also tailored each and every bullet point to show that I'm not just using myself as the example for why I disagree, but every possible reason I can give for why we, collectively, should maintain access.
