A scrolling shooter bullet hell game about magic dragon girls!
ABOUT THE GAME:
Play as a dragon priestess on a quest to stop a mysterious necromancer from destroying the world...
NNFF features classic high-action danmaku gameplay veterans can appreciate. Its easy to learn mechanics makes it great for people new to the genre too! There's a lot of quality of life such as a snappy in-depth practice mode, replays, smooth easy-to-read graphics, and more!
This game also has a strong focus on its story and characters, with dynamic boss sprites with simple but fun animations, expressive animated dialogue portraits, and there's even an unlockable bestiary containing the backstory of all of the bosses you meet!
Also, the music (composed by Princess Sylvysprit) is really REALLY good!! (Demo OST album releasing soon...)
This demo contains the first 3 stages. I really hope you enjoy it.

No Need for Flowers, the most magical Touhou inspired draconic danmaku shmup, is out now! https://store.steampowered.com/app/3337840/No_Need_for_Flowers/
I had the honour of composing the OST, and these 20+ songs are probably my best OST work yet! https://sylvysprit.bandcamp.com/album/no-need-for-flowers-ost-2
I'll be playing the game live on https://www.twitch.tv/sylvysprit to celebrate!
Don't forget! No Need for Flowers releases soon! (7th of August 2026)
I composed the whole OST, and guess what? TWENTY (20) of my best works are waiting for you to be heard in this amazing danmaku game!
I'm very excited, please don't forget to mark it in your schedule!
I've been spending the past few weeks since the initial announcement adding last minute bonus features and doing some extra polish passes… I'm very excited for people to finally be able to see everything this game has to offer!
Also, the people that are still responding to the feedback form, I see your suggestions, and I actually added quite a few of them! (thank you again!!) The survey on the site right now is actually intended for the full game, and the fact you are going out of your way to find it is sort of endearing.

The full game is finished, and testing is almost complete!.. soon… very soon…
Hello! It's been a while since I last posted an update. I've been very busy finishing up the game and making sure it's polished as best as it can be. In this post, I'd like to share some information regarding the release plans and what to expect!
✿ Everything is DONE!!*
The gameplay, content, cutscenes, and graphics are 100% finished!![*]The only thing left now is two more songs... and then it'll finally be available for you to play!
... soon... very soon...
✿ A sneak peek of what's to come...
Major improvements from the demo to the full game!
Several tweaks and improvements were made to the gameplay and mechanics based on feedback from testers! Such as...
• All pages of the bestiary are fully unlockable on any difficulty!
• The easter egg level is now replayable!
• Bosses no longer deal contact damage! (no more confusing deaths)
• Late-game bullet patterns have larger, more visible bullets!
• The life system was simplified!
• ... And more!!
Something interesting I discovered during testing was that most players were very invested in the story and characters, and it was the main thing that kept them playing. Many of the changes were made to ensure players of all skill levels are able to see 100% of the story! The biggest change was removing all Hard Mode requirements from feature & content unlocks such as the bestiary. Now, Hard Mode mainly just unlocks achievements... Although actually, there is a fun surprise waiting for people who manage to beat Hard Mode without using any continues.
Unlockable Extras!
The main focus of the game is on the three playable routes, but there is also quite a bit of extra stuff to play around with... As you progress through the game, you'll unlock a few bonuses and features, as well as the bestiary!
Achievement Support!
The game also supports achievements through Steam, of which there are 47 to unlock! Most achievements actually have more than one unlock condition, so if you're clever, you may be able to find workarounds for some of the more challenging ones.
A new kind of bullet hell story!
NNFF's style of story is quite unique for the genre. The plot basically "turns on" in stage 4 and keeps ramping up from there.
And once you think it's all over...
... There's even more.
The story features some extremely high highs and low lows. It's also just long enough to be satisfying and just short enough to not overstay its welcome. My goal was to make NNFF one of those games that that invades your thoughts for a few weeks... Hopefully it clicks with you!
✿ When is it coming out?
I am unable to give a specific date at the moment, but it will definitely be released between the start of August to the end of September. Whenever the release date is finalized, it'll be announced in an update post on Steam, itch.io, and on the official social media accounts two weeks before launch.
✿ Closing thoughts
Initially, I was very worried about the reactions the full game would get from people during the playtesting phase. There are a few atypical and risky design choices that I was anticipating mixed responses from, but to my surprise, there were very few complaints other than bug discoveries and some minor difficulty issues (the game was too easy). It also was very exciting to see more people finally react to the narrative of the game, especially the unlockable character's route. Overall, everything went way better than expected, and I'm excited to finally be able to share the game with you soon!

The OST for Eden's Exalt is now out! A Zeroranger and Touhou inspired shmup i composed for for Bullet Hell Jam 7, i would be honoured if you gave it a listen, thank you in advance!
hi i played the demo, loved it!!! also here's my piece of feedback, since it took me a moment to realize Z is for selecting, maybe you'd like to put the controls list beside the "english" screen, the first one
I'm glad you enjoyed it, also thank you for the feedback! I never actually considered that, oops. I'll definitely add in a control prompt in the next update
Good news, all of the assets needed for the demo have been finished. The only stuff that's left is some more tweaking / testing before it's ready to be released. You can look forward to playing it in either June or July!
It'll release on itch.io first, and after a little while (not sure how long, but probably not too long), it'll be available for download on Steam as well.
I've been pretty silent with updates about No Need for Flowers since I released the Steam page. But that's because I've been working on something special…
Exciting news! The first half of the game is pretty much completed along with almost all of the game's features. And that's important because those are all things you get to see for yourself soon in the DEMO!
I'm not sure of the exact release date yet for the demo (I still have some polishing to do, and am also still waiting on some assets), but I expect it to be done sometime this summer or early fall!
That's it for now. I'll continue sharing any updates on news or progress. In the meantime, you can wishlist the game here if you'd like:
