Huang Huidan’s switch ring on beam
Beautiful but it’s a Yang Bo! Not a switch ring. A switch ring requires your back leg to make a ring shape with your foot reaching toward your head. A Yang Bo is a split leap with the head going all the way back and can be done with or without a switch. Huang Huidan does both a Yang Bo and a switch ring in her beam routine but this here is a Yang Bo.
First of all,a switch ring takes off from one leg and requires legs to switch in mid-air while a Yang Bo takes off from two legs and does not need a switch.Secondly,a switch ring needs to be done with the rear leg bent while a Yang Bo jump requires both legs to be straight. Maybe it's my fault that I didn't make this GIF complete and clear enough for you to see the way she takes off,but it's definitely NOT a Yang Bo jump but a switch ring as you can she made a very obvious switch.Thirdly,in fact Haung Huidan has never done a Yang Bo jump in her gymnastic career.Never.
And there’s also another kind of jump that combines Yang Bo and switch ring which was performed by a Chinese former gymnast Pang Panpan in 2006.You can google it if you want to see.
